Little girls typically are known for playing with things like dolls and cooking toys.
When I was a little girl I specifically liked musical toys.
I loved things like pianos and drum machines.
My name is Cristal Carter and I am on the road to becoming a professional in the industry of music production.
Growing up I was consistently into sports, computers, and music. I was more of a tomboy than a girly girl.
I used to play basketball a lot when I was younger.
I was heavily into hip hop music, instead of R&B or pop music like most girls would be.
I started making music when I was only about 12 years old.
Up until when I was a freshman in high school I wanted to be a meteorologist.
I soon discovered through research that there were actually schools for music and other forms of entertainment and that’s when I came across Full Sail.
I’m a self-motivated person naturally though I come off as soft spoken.
For a few years when I was in high school and afterwards I ran my own home studio.
I taught myself a bit about audio engineering along with creating music.
I’ve expanded my skills by listening to different genres as well as making them.
I tried to replicate and innovate my own signature sound.
After listening and taking influence from many different sounds I was able to make something even more unique.
I plan on being more energetic about what I do
I want to always try new things in my work field and leave my comfort zone.
I want to try new things and leave my comfort zone from time to time to help further my inspiration for music, stay innovative, and keep an open mind.
I want to be more open to network and be social but with the right people that can help motivate or that I can learn from.
One of the mistakes I used to make was was not valuing my time as much as I should.
I used to not place as high of a value on my work and music that I created also.
I used to not be as quick to speak my mind and speak up for what I believe in or express the many ideas I would have.
I know if I keep these things in my I will only make progress and become better with experience.
I want my music to have many different outlets and not just radio or music for recording artists.
I want to make music for the many purposes that TV, radio, film, and video games may require as well as creating sound in general. Wherever there is sound there is an opportunity.
My name is Cristal Carter. I’m currently attending Full Sails Science of Music Production degree program.
And my career is music production, but in life I’m an innovative creator.
