2. Khadi and village industries comission is a
statutory body of indian constitution. It comes
under ministry of micro, small and medium
enterprises. It was estblished by Khadi and Village
Industries Act, 1956. it has been amended twice, in
1965 and 2006. it is one among the important
constitutional, statutory and quasi-judicial bodies
of india.
3. OBJECTIVES OF KVIC
The broad objectives of Khadi Village and Industries
Comission encompassing self reliance and sustainibality are:
1. To boost employment in country
2. To promote promotion and sale of khadi articles
3. To cater self reliance doctrine of the country by
empowering underpriviledged and rural sections of
society.
4. FUNCTIONS OF KVIC
1. It plans, promotes, organizes and implements
programme for development of Khadi and Village
Industries(KVI).
2. Maintains a reserve of raw materials that can be further
promoted in supply chain.
3. Aids in creating common service facilities that help in
processing of raw materials.
4. Aids marketing of KVI products through artisans and
other avenues.
5. Creates linkages with multiple marketing agencies for
promotion and sale of KVI products.
5. 6. Encourages and promotes research and development of
KVI sector.
7. Helps in providing financial assistance to indivuduals and
institutions related to KVI.
8. Enforces guidelines to comply with product standards to
eliminate production of ingenuine products.
9. Empowered to bring projects, programmes and schemes
in relation to khadi and village industries development.
6. PMEGP
KVIC is also the nodal agency for implementation of Prime
Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
It is a credit linked subsidy scheme which aims at generating
employment by setting up micro eneterprise in non farm
sector both in rural and urban areas.
It was set up in 2008.
It is a central sector scheme.
7. PROGRESS OF KVIC
Some important highlights taken from KVIC report regarding
Khadi and Village Industries and Comission are :
1. The prime minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi quotes “Earlier
it was khadi for nation, khadi for fashion, but now it is
becoming khadi for transformation
2. The mission Solar Charkha has empowered women by
bringing self esteem and self reliance among them.
8. MISSION OF ORGANS
OF KVIC
There are five organs of KVIC:
1. ORGANIZATION: KVIC aims to take responsibility to
develop KVI and unburden government.
2. COMMUNITY: To enable the rural community through
promoting security for life .
3. VILLAGE INDUSTRY: To increase productivity in KVI
sectors
9. 4. MARKET: To aid the sales and marketing of KVI products.
5. HERITAGE: To protest the socio-cultural value as a
national asset.
10. WHAT IS THE ROLE OF
KVIC IN HONEY
MISSION?
KVIC is providing beekeeping training and 10bee boxes with
live colonies to beneficiaries including farmers, beekeepers
and unemployed youth with aim to generate livelihood for
beneficiaries and also increase honey production in the
country.
