This paper has four parts exploring the author's values, attitudes, and beliefs regarding nursing research and a specific human experience. In part one, the author describes their view of becoming a researcher and what has shaped their perspective over time. Part two involves identifying a human experience to study, and reflecting on how the author's values are reflected in a creative work about the phenomenon. Part three compares two research papers on the topic, one aligned with the author's views and one opposing them, analyzing the theoretical frameworks. Part four provides a glossary of terms collected from the course.
