South University Introduction In this new era, the medical sector has improved and
transformed due to the advanced systems. Educational institutions have been driven to
improve their infrastructure and how they 2 LEADERSHIP STYLE teach their students so
that they can meet the rising demands in the health sector. Health service providers are also
demanding for nurses that can perform and meet specific demands for their organizations.
As a graduating nurse, I have been at a position of meeting with various patients during my
nursing journey. This has been quite resourceful because through the learning period there
has been adequate information and experiences that has continued to shape my attributes.
My Leadership Style From the quiz, my leadership style is the democratic leadership
(Cherry, 2016). Such leadership accepts input from other team members and allows them to
fully participate in several activities. I believe that such leadership motivates members and
makes them feel encouraged. This kind of leadership has been effective in collaborative
decision making. It also makes it possible for every member to feel valued through their
contributions. From experience, when a leader is very authoritative and very aggressive in
delegating tasks, the people feel offended. They also tend to be dishonest towards the
leader. Role of the Advanced Practice Nurse DQ EssayThis makes it difficult to achieve their
objectives. Leadership Attributes for Graduate Nurses Leadership attributes allow the
graduate nurses to be prepared to work in the healthcare sector effectively. They have to
focus on their performance and how they deliver their services 3 LEADERSHIP STYLE
efficiently. They also have to be technologically survey due to the new emerging
technologies and learn how to work together with their colleagues through team building
(Dyess, & Sherman Nurses are no longer perceived as the second or secondary treatment
option. Many have even gone ahead to being independent nurse practitioners. They have
made it easier for patients to acquire affordable treatment and also created convenience to
the patients who can’t access hospitals at ease. Every graduating nurse is required to
demonstrate leadership skill in their career. They should be caring, compassionate, patient,
and sympathetic. Nursing is a profession that entails a lot of engagement with several
people in the society. They are therefore required to embrace the cultural diversities which
they can only achieve in an open mindset. One is expected to adapt and respect the cultural
differences so that they can address global healthcare issues. Graduating nurses should also
have good listening skills (Dyess, & Sherman, 2009). They should be sensitive and
understand their patients so that they can be at a position of ing them. On this attribute,
they should enhance patient’s confidentiality and respect their privacy. It is unethical to
share sensitive information with other colleagues concerning the patient. In their personal
life, they would not be happy as well hearing their private information from outsiders. This
makes a patient feel insecure and hide information that might be helpful in the process of
treating them. This helps in building trust and good relationships with the clients. The
graduate nurses should professionally communicate well to their colleagues and patients so
that they can deliver the right services. Another attribute is the acquisition of contextual
knowledge in areas such as finance, technology, human resource among others. Sometimes
they are expected to analyze expenses or manage resources. They also have to fill in data in
electronic health records or use clinical decision . These skills make them stand a chance in
being appropriately 4 LEADERSHIP STYLE ready to work effectively. They also need to
know how to prioritize, delegate so that they can ensure that quality and safety procedures
are taken in the workplace (Dyess, & Sherman, 2009). There have been many cases where
patients have lost their lives due to negligence and medical errors. This can only be avoided
if the practitioners are focused in their work and use innovative approaches to deal with
certain conditions and emergencies. Accountability is another attribute that they should
acquire. They should be ready to take responsibility for their actions. They not only become
accountable to themselves but also to their employer, the public, and their profession.
Graduating nurses should know their limitations or boundaries. If they have to go beyond

It is unethical to share sensitive information with other colleagues concerning the patient. In their personal life, they would not be happy as well hearing their private information from outsiders. This makes a patient feel insecure and hide information that might be helpful in the process of treating them. This helps in building trust and good relationships with the clients. The graduate nurses should professionally communicate well to their colleagues and patients so that they can deliver the right services. Another attribute is the acquisition of contextual knowledge in areas such as finance, technology, human resource among others. Sometimes they are expected to analyze expenses or manage resources. They also have to fill in data in electronic health records or use clinical decision . These skills make them stand a chance in being appropriately 4 LEADERSHIP STYLE ready to work effectively.
