Organizational Values Presentation
Prepare a 10-minute presentation (10-15 slides, not including title or reference slide) on
organizational culture and values.Describe how alignment between the values of an
organization and the values of the nurse impact nurse engagement and patient
outcomes.Discuss how an individual can use effective communication techniques to
overcome workplace challenges, encourage collaboration across groups, and promote
effective problem solving.Identify a specific instance from your own professional experience
in which the values of the organization and the values of the individual nurses did or did not
align. Describe the impact this had on nurse engagement and patient outcomes.While APA
style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is
expected and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA
documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student
Success Center.This assignment uses a grading rubric. Instructors will be using the rubric to
grade the assignment; therefore, students should review the rubric prior to beginning the
assignment to become familiar with the assignment criteria and expectations for successful

and values play a significant role in the nursing profession. The alignment between these
two factors determines the level of nurse engagement and patient outcomes. Effective
communication also plays a crucial role in overcoming workplace challenges, promoting
collaboration across groups and ensuring effective problem-solving. It is important to
identify any instances where the values of the organization and the values of individual
nurses did or did not align as this can have a significant impact on patient outcomes.1.
Alignment between the values of an organization and the values of the nurse impact nurse
engagement and patient outcomes:When the values of an organization align with the values
of the nurse, there is an increase in nurse engagement, morale, and commitment to the
organization, which then leads to better patient outcomes. When nurses feel that their
values are in line with those of the organization, they are more likely to be satisfied with
their jobs, work harder, and remain loyal to the organization. This also increases the
likelihood of positive patient outcomes as nurses are more likely to provide excellent care
to their patients.On the other hand, when there is a disconnect between the values of the
organization and the individual nurse, there is an increase in job dissatisfaction, burnout,
and turnover, which can ultimately lead to substandard care for patients. Nurses may
become disenchanted with their jobs if they feel that the values and objectives of the
organization do not align with their personal values, resulting in a loss of motivation to
provide the best care for patients.2. Effective communication techniques can overcome
workplace challenges, promote collaboration, and effective problem-solving:Effective
communication involves the use of clear and concise language to convey messages as well
as active listening skills to ensure understanding. Effective communication can help to
overcome workplace challenges by fostering trust, cooperation, and teamwork. When
nurses communicate effectively, they can address conflicts, share ideas, and work together
to solve problems.Effective communication also supports collaboration across groups,
thereby promoting effective problem-solving. Nurses who communicate effectively can
share knowledge, expertise, and innovative ideas to improve patient outcomes.
Collaborative problem-solving helps to identify potential issues before they become
significant problems, allowing nurses to work together to develop effective solutions.3.
Describing an instance where the values of the organization and individual nurses did or did
not align:In my professional experience, I have witnessed an instance where the
organizational values did not align with the values of individual nurses. In this scenario, the
hospital nursing staff were required to complete a particular task that they perceived to be
irrelevant and time-consuming. The hospital administration viewed the task as vital for
patient safety. Due to the perceived lack of value placed on their time, nurses became
disengaged, resulting in reduced motivation and subpar care for patients.On the other hand,
I have also had the opportunity to work in an organization where the values of the hospital
aligned well with those of the nurses. In this scenario, nurses were encouraged to provide
high-quality patient care, and their contributions were widely recognized and rewarded.
This led to a higher level of nurse engagement, job satisfaction, and ultimately, better
patient outcomes.Conclusion:In conclusion, organizational culture and values are essential
in the nursing profession, and nurse engagement and patient outcomes are dependent on
the alignment between these two factors. Effective communication also plays an essential
role in fostering teamwork and promoting problem-solving. Identifying instances where the
values of the organization and nurses do not align is crucial in mitigating any negative
effects that may arise. Ensuring that organizational values align with those of the nurses is
vital in promoting nurse engagement and maximizing patient outcomes.#Organizational
