The Trail of Two Fools
1. The Trail of Two Fools (Luke 15:11-32)
Lustis the tour guide to the far country.
Lust: the desire for something illegal or unattainable.
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not
known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had
said, Thou shalt not covet.
Lust is an all-consuming cravingto have what you do not have.
Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerningthe former conversation the old man,
which is corrupt accordingto the deceitful lusts;
Lust a sales pitch of crafty lies.
Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust,
and enticed.
One of Lust most powerful lies is its claim to give the controls of life to
you.
Prov 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heartis a fool: but whoso walketh
wisely, he shall be delivered.
The only way to defeat Lust is with the deliverance of an outside force
greater than you or lust.

Luke 15
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion
of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

2. Hos 4:18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom
continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
2Tim 3:1-3 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall
come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters,
proud, blasphemers, disobedientto parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Heb 12:16-17 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as
Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited
the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance,
though he sought it carefully with tears.
Ezek 18:24 But when the righteous turneth awayfrom his
righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth accordingto all
the abominationsthat the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his
righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his
trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in
them shall he die.

II. Mile marker two is Excess (Luke 15:13)

took his journeyinto a far country, and there wasted his substance with
riotous living.

3. Rev 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These
things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars;
I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art
dead.
Gen 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of
Jordan, that it was well wateredevery where, before the LORD
destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD,
like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land;
and he began to be in want.

Gal 6:7-8 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a
man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;
but he that soweth to the Spiritshall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
This Prodigal never considered the famine he caused in the house of
his father.
Job 4:8-9 8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow
wickedness, reap the same.
9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils
are they consumed.

hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters,
which are here; lest thou be consumedin the iniquityof the city.
5. 16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and

VI. The exit ramp of Repentance (Luke 15:17-18)
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my
father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have
sinned against heaven, and before thee,
A. The call booth on the Roadof Repentance connects first withGod

Ps 51:3-4 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: andmy sin is ever
before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy
sight: that thou mightest be justifiedwhen thou speakest, and be
clear when thou judgest.
Sin is done against God; it may or may not be done in the sight
of man but it is an offence to God.
Ps 51:16-17 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it:
thou delightestnot in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite
heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
6. Prov 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD:
but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
B. No expectationof entitlement
19 And am no more worthy to be calledthy son: make me as one of thy
hiredservants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way
off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck,
and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinnedagainst heaven, and in
thy sight, and am no more worthy to be calledthy son.
2Cor 7:9-10 9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that
ye sorrowedto repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly
manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it
on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bringhither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be
merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is
found. And they began to be merry.
The merriment does not begin until the son is clothed properly.
Lev 13:34 And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scall:
and, behold, if the scall be not spread in the skin, nor be in sight
deeper than the skin; then the priest shall pronounce himclean: and
he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.

shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a
well of water springingup into everlastinglife.
John 7:37-38 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus
stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and
drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly
shall flow rivers of livingwater.

25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to
the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he calledone of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed
the fatted calf, because he hath receivedhim safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out,
and intreated him.
