This document discusses the biblical story of Moses and the burning bush from Exodus 3. It provides context about Moses' life and background before encountering the burning bush when he was 80 years old. The burning bush was on fire but not being consumed, which piqued Moses' curiosity. The document then presents "The A B C's of why A Burning Bush is not Consumed": A) Moses anticipated the bush would be consumed but it was not, representing how the dead will rise; B) the experience gave Moses backbone as he was a backslider; and C) the burning bush commissioned Moses as a commander to deliver the Israelites from Egypt.

Consumed.
Exodus 3
In chapter 2 we are introduced to a 40-year-old, Mature Moses.
He has found his proper occupation
but learns this is not the proper occasion for a demonstration.
Exod 2:15
15) Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay
Moses.
But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land
of Midian:and he sat down by a well.
Fast-forward another 40 years…
Exod 3:1-4
1) Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the
priest of Midian:
and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to
the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
(he is now an 80-year-old man)
2) And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of
fire out of the midst of a bush:
and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the
bush was not consumed.
2. (No American apathy here, his curiosity is peaked.
A bush on fire is of no special interest to an 80 yr old man, no
doubt he’s seen many.
What makes this one special- is the bush is not consumed.)
3) And Moses said, I will now turn aside,
and see this great sight,
why the bush is not burnt.
4) And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see,
(This burning bush was a production planned by God,
however, the miracle would only
Manifest meaning for Moses
if he would take interest in it.)
God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said,
Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
This incident is of such importance it is mentioned again four
more times in the Bible.
Let’s see the A B C’s of why A Burning Bush is not Consumed.
“A”- Anticipation of Arrival
Moses expected the flames to consume the leaves
and the branches to begin to wither and turn to ash.
But, when that didn’t happen,
all he had known of the power of fire
and the inferiority of a shrub bush
3. was called into question.
The first lesson learned by Moses at the Bush is…
A. The dead rise.
Mark 12:26-27
26) And as touching the dead, that they rise:
have ye not read in the book of Moses,
how in the bush God spake unto him, saying,
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob?
27) He is not the God of the dead,
but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
(God said it.)
A. The dead rise.
B. The dedicated declare it
Luke 20:37
37) Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the
bush,
when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of
Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
(For some reason we tend to elevate what we say over what we
read or hear said to us…
Moses confirms his belief of what God said by repeating it.)
2Tim 4:6
6) For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my
departure is at hand.
A. The dead rise.
4. B. The dedicated declare it
C. For us the fire is not intended to incinerate the soul but to
improve it.
Deut 4:20
20) But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out
of the iron furnace,
even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye
are this day.
Job 23:10
10) But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried
me, I shall come forth as gold.
“when we get through this struggle we’ll celebrate with…”

Deut 33:16
16) And for the precious things of the earth and fulness
thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush:
let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the
top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
Separation through sin or just circumstances can cause you to
drop your guard. Good thing we have a “friend that sticketh
closer than a brother”.
2Sam 14:14
5. 14) For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the
ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God
respect any person:
yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled
from him.
The shape of the ship
The class of the crew
The quality of the quarters
All fade from view
When lady liberty comes in to view
The troubles of the trip
Are a meaningless memory
When the harbor is on the horizon. -
“It will be worth it all”
Sometimes the day seems long,
Our trials hard to bear.
We´re tempted to complain,
to murmur and despair.
But Christ will soon appear
to catch his bride away!
All tears forever vanquished
in God’s eternal day!
It will be worth it all
when we see Jesus!
Life’s trials will seem so small
when we see Christ.
One glimpse of his dear face,
all sorrow will erase.
6. So, bravely run the race
till we see Christ.

Acts 7:35
35) This Moses whom they refused, saying,
Who made thee a ruler and a judge?
the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer
by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Being the “burning bush” may not sound that fun but it is the
ceremony required for leadership.
Isa 48:10
10) Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have
chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
Isa 49:6
6) And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my
servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the
preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the
Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the
earth.
Isa 60:2-3
7. 2) For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross
darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and
his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3) And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the
brightness of thy rising.
12) For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall
perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
Dan 3:24-25
24) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up
in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we
cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They
answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25) He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in
the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of
the fourth is like the Son of God.
27) And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's
counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon
whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their
head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of
fire had passed on them.
