2. ALBUM DIGI-PACK
In my digipack I have researched and looked at
conventions on these albums for this genre. I
have included the typical conventions found
in most albums for this genre. One thing
common for albums of this genre is that they
all try to create their own style, their own
image as this is a genre thatโs about breaking
the mould a โhome-grownโ genre where each
band has their own identity and style . So with
this I decided to link the video into the album
featuring the main characters with the
lipstick between them as a indicator for
desire and lust. I have also included the
curtains in the album as they are important to
the song in its lyrics and to the story. The
background of the front back and spine of the
album are images of the curtains that I have
edited into stylised fashion by changing the
colour bleeds and adding my own to them and
then twisting the imaged heavily and take a
part of it that I liked. I felt that it gave a
appealing artistic look to the album which I
was after. I included conventional information
such as the track list, website information,
barcodes and the record label logo which I
had created.
3. ALBUM ADVERTISING POSTER
For my poster I looked at typical features
held in a album advertising poster such
release as the date, ordering information
with details of who you can purchase the
products from, and typically includes
information about a โhit trackโ which I am
using the one I used in my video for the
poster. As it was common for the poster to
contain features from the album which are
most likely the album cover which I
implemented into the poster. As poster
across all genres usually had their text on
black I created a fade from the album to
the black on the bottom so the text could
be displayed clearly and easy to read. I
have also included my self created record
label โKing recordsโ.
4. FILM STILL 1
One thing that is popular within this
genre is the use of a dark haired
girl in dark clothing within the
darker side of this genre. As this
song was heavy in many parts I
felt it was appropriate to use this
in the video. In this part of the
video the female character is
walking out of the opening
curtains which are important to
the story. As itโs a theatre you
have the artistic background
which is vital for the mise en
scene for this setting.
5. FILM STILL 2
In this video I wanted the lead female to
give a uncaring look at the camera,
trying to make the character seem
cold to the male in the video as if
he's just another member of the
audience and nobody special. This is
also used in the album as a
connection to the video as the
premise of the stares are important
to the lyrics and video.
6. FILM STILL 3
This is the lead male character in my
videos narrative. I have made him
stand out by making the rest of the
audience members wear suits while
having the character in casual
clothing to make him more relatable
to the audience. In this scene he is
watching the female lead on stage
looking a little dumbstruck in this
shot.
7. FILM STILL 4
As videos of these genre are usually
stylised in some way or form. In this I
am using brush effect which I think
make the colours look more vibrant
and makes the video more exciting
which is something a band would
want to show themselves at and
make people wish they could hang
out with them, this is making a star
persona for the band.
8. FILM STILL 5
In this shot we have the camera focused
in on the main characters eyes. In
this he is starting at the female
character with a wanting look of
desire. Its at this point that I make
the character the audience is more
drawn to a little more creepy. This is
to make the audience feel
uncomfortable around him yet
somehow sympathetic towards him. I
am once again using the focus of eyes
for this scene. This is also in the
digipack as another connector to the
video as it is as I see a important part
of the video.
9. FILM STILL 6
This show shows the curtains and works
as a divider between the characters.
Showing a separation between their
worlds and that any connection
between them should be only given by
the curtains opening between them. It
also serves are the panel shown when
the front cover is lifted as if its
unveiling the curtains to the album. The
curtains are important both lyrically
and within the video and the
connection between the album and
video. Another way I am connecting
them together.
10. FILM STILL 7
This lipstick on the mirror is important to the
narrative as it shows different character
development using the stereotypes I have
created as this shows how self loving the
main female is adding to her coldness and
yet symbolises the desire of the lead male
character I also have this image on the
middle panel of the album so the cd would
be on top. I placed it between them as a
way to connect the characters on the
album . A common part of this genre is a
failed love story and this is my way of
presenting it, I like this shot the most as I
feel it sums the story the best.
11. FILM STILL 8
In this I am displaying one of my shots
focused on the vocalist as for the
whole video I had shots of the
vocalist alone as this is a common
feature in many music videos to
focus on the vocalist in the video. I
felt that as this is a post-hard core
song I would have him hold the
camera and film himself is its more
erratic and more exciting to the
viewer.
