3. DIVERSITY ASSESSMENT This term we have studied different kinds of people in society. We have also looked at some of the effects of prejudice and discrimination based on these differences. Some people are prejudiced against people because of their gender, because of the colour of their skin, because of disability, sexuality, religious beliefs or simply because they or their lifestyle is a bit different. Tolerance means accepting the differences between people, and letting them get on with their own lives. It is the opposite of being prejudiced.
