It’s important to understand human rights!
Justice, equality, respect for group differences,
and individual integrity is all part of that.
4. Have you ever noticed…
That sign right inside of our school that states:
We do not discriminate or deny services on the
basis of race, color, national origin, sex, and/or
disability.
This also includes ethnicity and
sexual orientation.
5. What that means…
All students have the right to come to school
and feel safe in this environment.
Please respect and be sensitive to the
differences of others.
If someone looks, acts, believes, and IS
different than you…. Respect it!
6. Celebrating Differences…
Look at diversity as an opportunity: The wealth
of knowledge, experiences, and resources
available through diversity allows you to grow
in a way that promotes acceptance,
appreciation, and understanding of
differences.

9. Discrimination
Be aware of discrimination: The unjust or
prejudicial treatment of an individual or group
of people based on race, age, gender, religion,
sexual orientation, etc.
Discrimination hurts and leaves scars that can
last a lifetime, affecting goals, ambitions, life
choices, and feelings of self-worth. Be
sensitive about what you say and how you say
it!
10. Celebrate!
Celebrate and value diversity! Be proud of
yourself and your family traditions. Be
sensitive and respectful to everyone!
Being different is good. Being yourself is great!
