These are questions that I have to response back to my classmates. 1-in my experience I have seen differences when I was in a group versus in a team. i have noticed that in a group sometimes when there is an agenda of items that need to be discussed or issues to be resolved that it takes longer to accomplish. When on a team I notice that it is more informal and we get right into what it is that we are there to accomplish. In a team setting, at my work, we look to gather Subject matter Experts or SMEs to help tackle issues or complete an initiative. I think having this type of dynamic in your team helps to get things done quicker because you have the knowledge needed to make decisions, create a plan and execute on that plan for success. 2-One of the groups I am currently working with was put together to help transition work from one of our facilities to another. The group consists of approximately 20 people based on their role in the manufacturing process in the current facility and the receiving facility. The group is responsible for knowledge sharing and capturing all aspects of the manufacturing process that need to be shut down in one place and started up in the next. This involves, parts, machines, tools, technology, processes, resources, etc. What helps this group be successful is the wide variety of skill sets needed to share information and the work necessary to get the transition complete on time. What has hindered this group is the fact that the members on the team in the receiving facility have never been a part of a transition like this before so this is new territory for most of us. I am not sure I would change anything about the group. At least not at this point. The team seems to be working together really well and completing the necessary actions. · 3- At work, I am currently assign to a group of costumer service. This group or department consists of 12 employees, which all members have a shared knowledge of the group's objectives, but specific responsibilities are assigned to each of us. The purpose or objectives of our group is to troubleshoot technical problems, provide excellent customer support service, and address solutions to customers. The main factor of our group success is due to the manager in control of the group who also coordinate our individuals efforts. I would not change anything in my group, but I would add weekly meetings to see the end result of the business. 4- Group is defined as two or more freely interacting individuals who share norms and goals and have a common identity. Team is a smaller number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, such as performance goals and the approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. A group can be as big as you would like it to be, as a team is made up in smaller numbers, and it is more structured. Soft skills are most often characterized as the personal attributes that make up the interpersonal and intrapersonal aspects of an individual. Soft skills can include attitude, manners, social skills, the ability to communicate, listen, delegate, resolve conflicts, work as a team player, adapt to change, and work hard. The term “soft skills” is not an indication on their importance; in fact, it can be argued that soft skills are more important to character and success you might achieve. Soft skills are compared to, and more specifically complement, a person’s “hard skills” which are the specific skills required for a job. For example, the soft skills necessary for a leader in an organization would be vision, social skills, emotional intelligence, empathy, work ethic, communication, and flexibility while the hard skills would be execution, organization, knowledge of computer programs, a second language, planning, coordinating and a thorough understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures. In the previous section, many soft skills have already been discussed. You practice a variety of soft skills every day as a matter of fact. They occur so naturally you may not even notice them or have never spent time to realize strengths that you regularly exhibit. Identifying your soft skills will give you talking point in interviews and in promotion discussions, as well as give you new goals and areas to improve upon. Critical Soft Skills The following is a list of primary soft skills that just about every employer is looking for from their staff. It is no means inclusive as soft skills refer to an often intangible set of abilities that to some degree are engrained in everyone. While the primary soft skills are generally agreed upon as important in any job capacity, there are countless others that are deemed imperative as well (See Module 3: Personal and Career Evaluation). Depending on the job or function you are performing, these may be just as imperative as the ones listed below but not as universal. They are self-organized, continuous learning attitude, have good team bonding, and have a complete sense of accountability for their work. Agile teams are more performing compared to traditional teams. But as traditional teams have some dysfunction do agile teams also carry some? Like any other teams’ agile teams also have some dysfunction that is not as basic as traditional teams but needs to be overcome them. As in an agile project, any small factor is important and may cause derail. As a leader, you must be able to identify the dysfunctions of a team, address them and avoid them creating an obstacle to the productivity of a team. The dysfunctions of agile teams are of mainly five types. As every team consists of fallible people as members to some extent, so every team experiences dysfunction to one or another extent.

Working in teams provides the opportunity to share the decision making, to increase productivity, to give voices for the purposes of providing feedback to all those involved in the team and it typically regarded as an environment that fosters creativity and innovation. The leadership role in a team enviornement is much different then other leadership roles. The leader in the team leadership environment is responsible for keeping an eye on the teams performance and taking action, when needed, to help the team effectively meet goals and outcomes. According to Northouse (2018), "for teams to be successful, the organizational culture needs to support member involvement. The traditional authority structure of many organizations does not support decision making at lower levels, and this can lead to the failure of many teams" (section 14.1, para. 4). Most organizations are accustomed to vertical or top down decision making. In an team leadership enviornement the entire team shares the responsibility of making the decision, this flat decision making model is often a source of organizational struggle and can cause a team leadership environment to fail. Organizations that chose to implement and function in a team leadership environment can work to change their culture to one that supports and encourages collaboration. In my current role, we are assigned and volunteer to be apart of large scale work groups. These work groups are designed to solve for difficulties or inefficiencies experienced within operations. The work group, which is a multi-disciplinary team with representation from most functional departments within the organization is tasked with a pain point and works to create a solution that will positively impact it. The team has the power and the ability to decide what the solution is, how its created and where its implemented/piloted. In addition, they are expected to produce a set of expected outcomes. These outcomes, along with the solution, are presented to the C-Suite and measurements are created to determine if the desired outcome was achieved. In addition, the team has the ability to request and receive funding to pay for the proposed solution.
