![Automatic Street Lighting System for Energy Efficiency based on
Low Cost
Abstract —
This projectproposesenergyefficientof automaticstreetlightingsystembasedonlow cost
microcontroller.The mainobjectiveistodesignenergyefficientbasedcontrollerforcontrollingthe
LightEmittingDiode (LED) basedstreetlampviaappropriate lightinglevelscontrol.Thissystemis
consistsof a microcontroller,lightsensor,rainsensor,lasersensorandaset of the lightemitting
diode (LED) module.While,the controllingandmanagingof the systemisbasedonthe numberof
trafficand five differentlevel of streetlightbrightnesshasbeenusedforlightingupthe streetand
proportional tothe numberof traffic.The systemwasprogrammedtoautomaticallyturnoff during
the hours of daylightandonlyoperate duringthe nightandheavy rainingorbad weather.Several
numbersof testshave beenconductedtotestand validate the proposedprototype inthe different
environment.Asconclusion,around77%-81% reductioninpowerconsumptioncanbe achieved
throughthisproposedautomaticstreet lightingsystemforenergyefficiencysystemdesign.
