3. Introduction of Aadhaar
12 digit unique-identity number issued by the govt. of India for their
identity verification to all Indian residents based on their biometric and
demographic data is called Aadhaar.
Aadhaar is the world's largest biometric ID system, with over 1.19
billion enrolled members as of 30 Nov 2017 representing over 99% of
Indians aged 18 and above.
4. Journey of Aadhaar in India
The UIDAI was established on 28 January 2009 after the Planning Commission
notification on 28 January 2009 on after the planning commission the UIDAI was
established. Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder of Infosys, was appointed by the then
government, UPA to head the project.
On 26 November 2012, Honorable Prime Minister Manmohan Singh launched a

JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile) trinity has initiated the social revolution
which will eventually bring all Indians into a common financial, economic system
and digital space, similar to how GST has created a unified market.
There is a vision of 1 billion -1billion -1 billion so that govt. can reach to the end
corners of country. That is 1 billion mobile phones are linked with 1 billion unique
Aadhaar numbers which is linked with 1 billion bank accounts.

A game-changer app :- While, so far, credit/debit cards & mobiles
phone are play the key role in the digital payments which are
dependable, there is a application named Aadhaar Pay won't require
a phone or a card.
Free transaction :- Since the Aadhar pay is to boost the digital
payment especially in small towns and rural India so, the Aadhaar
Pay will levy no transaction fee on the merchant
A secure application:- The Aadhaar Pay is a safe app who is the
combination of two platforms “Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) and
Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS).
Incentives scheme:- For the boost of Aadhaar Pay there are cash
back and referral bonus for the merchants and customers.

As per Sanjay Swamy chairman of ZipDail a mobile marketing startup
acquired by Twitter Aadhaar is not just for the administration benefits but also
provide the fundamental structure for the future of all service in India.
Aadhar is the hindi meaning of “foundation," that indicate that Aadhaar is
just not a formal identity card issued by Govt. , It is the foundation for the

Our government tried to lay a series of steps before announcing
demonetization but still somewhere it does seemed as an Trigger for the
cashless economy.
