The Day My Family And I Moved
Fifteenth May 2014: The day my family and I moved from Chicago to London because of my Dads
promotion. I was enraged about the move though, my family were filled with outright awe. The
thought of moving to London, trying new cultures and meeting new individuals tempted them to
moving. School: Their accent and uniform – everything was odd. My brother then again delighted in
finding another nation and way of life, so he fitted in superbly. Every second was hell and the hall
possessed an aroma similar to stagnant body odor. My list of issues were endless: lack of friends,
severe bullying, Oh if you didn 't know The name Evans, Josh Evans.

"Cool room" whispered Eva, as she looked back at me with a blend of delight and utter awe of how
indecent my personal hygiene was.
After 4 hours , we were in deep in conversation not the slightest bit exhausted of each others
company. This was a reward as I trusted it solidified my feelings for her. In any case we weren 't
completing any work , yet this didn 't trouble me at all as we getting to know each other properly. I
thought I knew a lot more about her until she blurted out with shame "I used to date Jeremy".
Jeremy is a dominant jerk. At school he would make my life hell while he would treat the school as
a kingdom under his tyrannous rule. Thoughts were racing through my mind. I could just consider
one thing to do. As I was going to say something Eva jumped from her seat into my lap and put her
lips on mine. Bang! The door viciously swung open. The other side stood my mum with milk and
cookies. "ERMM sorry to interrupt" my mum said awkwardly with a smirk. She rapidly did a U–
turn and gradually shut the door, giving me a quick wink as she did so. "I am so sorry" whispered
Eva awkwardly. Suddenly she ran out of my room in complete and utter humiliation.
The following day in school; Eva and I rapidly got over the past days ' shame and strolled down the
corridor. Snickering

My Family Essay
I grew up in a small family in India. There were a plenty of things that I was able to learn from my
family. I wouldn't be here, where I am now, without my family. Family defines the most important
things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they learn.
I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to
America, the land of dreams." I was only thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own
country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. When I came to know this, it was
really shocking to me, I couldn't stop thinking about my life in America. I never stopped to think
about the people I was leaving behind, my companions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recollecting a moment without my family is hard because they were always there for me. I never
had to solve a problem in my family due to it being so perfect for me. In a society, there would be
many struggles and difficulties in families, but I believe family is something that holds us.
It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that
transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, "A
community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family
wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester
at Holy Family University, I am able to see how supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are.
They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we
moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the
nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully,
we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous
divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces.
Every generation has different concepts on everything and their lifestyle changes too. People go
with the flow of the new ways of living that is followed by people around them. But I wouldn't

Descriptive Essay About A Fair Party
Fair Party 2017 The lamp post lights are shining down on us as were sitting on benches in a little
circle. It's nighttime out at the 2017 Fulton County Fair. Groups of people are lining up to get into
the fair for the Loverboy and Survivor Classic Rock concert. A few hours later the concert will be
over and people will be going home. That means it's time to pull the "money trick" on people as
they leave the concert later. My friends and I are at a party at my cousins camper. "Hey guys!" said
my cousin nick and all his friends. "Hey," me, Gracie, Bekah, and Kenzie said. As they were
walking towards us you could hear the loud slurping of them all drinking their milkshakes. Nick
introduced me, Gracie and Kenzie to all his friends. His friends names were Brock, Payton, Ethan,
Cody, and Trey. After we all introduced ourselves to each other we walked over to a big area with
bases. "Who should be on each team," Nick asked. "I don't care let's just make them even," Gracie
said. We all divided ourselves up into teams and started playing. My Team was in the field while
Nick's team was up to kick. Nick was the first kicker up, and I was pitching. Gracie, Kenzie, Cody,
and Ethan were behind me getting ready for Nick to kick. I pitch nick the ball then "wham!" The
kickball went right into Gracie's face. It hit her pretty good. We took a timeout until we decided to
go back to the camper and do something else. When we got back there about a hour left until the
concert was over. " Do you

Why The Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Similar to every character in any given work of literature, the grandmother from "A Good Man is
Hard to Find," had several attributes, both pleasing and vexatious. Of all her many qualities, I
greatly valued her ability to consistently speak her mind, even in the face of danger. Never was she
shy to give way to her true emotions and allow those around her to view her perspective on the
events occurring within her life, a rarity in today's society. Additionally, it was made obvious how
deeply she cared for her family in her desperate attempt to persuade The Misfit to return to the
"good man" she assumed he once was and therefore permit the family to safely escape the
dangerous predicament. Likewise, the grandmother was a Christian woman that ... Show more

The felon presumes that the woman expects him to be moved by her compassionate words that carry
no true meaning; henceforth, The Misfit considers it be counterfeit empathy and concludes that it
was not her average disposition. Nevertheless, readers have no factual proof concerning the
godliness of the woman, for the story only occurs within a brief period of time in which they cannot
discern whether she was simply acting sympathetic to elude gunpoint. With this in mind, the
criminal suggests that the grandmother truly would have been a good woman if only she had lived
her entire life similar to how she behaved there in the face of

Esther Greenwood's Search for Identity in Sylvia Plath’s...
One's identity is the most important lesson to be learned. It is vital part of life knowing who you are
in order to live a fulfilled life. Without knowing your identity, and the way you perceive life, it is
difficult for others to understand you, along with a struggle to live a happy life. In Sylvia Plath's
"The Bell Jar," Esther Greenwood struggles to find her own identity, and in the process, she
develops a mental illness which helps her discover the person she is on the inside. In her search for
identity, Esther often compares herself to others. One sign of depression is the feeling the need to
compare yourself to others. Throughout the story, Esther questions other's morals and characteristics
and tries to apply them to herself. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the novel, Esther describes her life as a tornado. "I felt very still and very empty,
the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along in the middle of he surrounding
hullabaloo."(3) Esther feels as if the world is going crazy and spinning around her, yet she is
standing still in the eye of the storm, not knowing which direction to move in. When Buddy Willard
comes to visit in chapter five, they talk about a poem, however, Esther is day dreaming about an
imaginary conversation she wishes the would have. Throughout the novel, Esther struggled with
what she felt how a woman in her society should act. At times, she feels as if there is no point to
college because most women only become secretaries anyway. She feels as if she should be learning
short hand and other techniques she should be learning for the secretary roll, however she does not
want to. Esther wants to be a writer, however, during the time of the novel, society gave women the
role as housewife. Esther felt pressure to settle down and start a family. No matter what
accomplishments Esther achieves in her life, it doesn't matter too much because they will not do her
much in her later life. Everyone expects Esther to marry buddy and start a family. Once she
becomes a mother, it would be assumed that she would give up her passion for writing. This
discourages Esther because she is not sure that is what she wants with her life. The role models in
the novel have a

Character Analysis Of Ellen Goodman's 'The Company Man'
Is being socially disconnected from your family, being overweight, and not having any free time for
yourself worth working endless hours from day to day? In the article by Ellen Goodman called "The
Company Man" the main character, Phil, does exactly this. Every day of his life Phil worked endless
hours causing him to be isolated from his loved ones until it eventually caught up with him. Ellen
Goodman uses this situation to criticize the idea of committing your life to a company.
Due to Phil committing his whole to his company he was long missed before he was actually gone.
Phil had a "family" but where he committed his whole life to just work he didn't know them on a
personal level, "But it did list his "survivors" quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were embarrassed because here was this dead guy's son asking about his father, but because no
one could really tell him anything they were embarrassed. Then just as bad, his daughter, who knew
him and was around him they never had anything to say to each other, "When she was alone with
her father...they had nothing to say to each other"(par.10). So even the children that he was
somewhat around, due to his work, his children had no clue on who he really was. Furthermore, not
only was Phil disconnected, Phil's work habits are what ultimately led him to his death. All he did
was work never having time for himself or his family, "He worked six days a week, five of them
until eight or nine at night..."(par.4). So due to his choice of work habits, he deprived him and his
family of any time away from what was slowly killing him. He was such a workaholic he did not
give himself time to do anything else, " He had no outside, extracurricular interests..."(par.4). It is
almost as if his work hours were chosen and he was just avoiding people and any outside life he
could have had away from work. All he did was stay at work, he practically lived there devoting
every single hour of his life there and it was like he enjoyed it, he did not mind, "To Phil it was
work...he thought it was okay though"(par.4). So even though he knew his life was being consumed
by work, he did not really care and let it eventually kill him. He knew his family missed him, and
that his life

I Am Sam Psychology
I Am Sam is a touching film that incorporates psychology into modern day society into terms that
the common person could empathize with. Sam Dawson, played by Sean Penn is a mentally
challenged man raising his beloved daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) in the heart of Los Angeles. As
a single father, Sam has support from many of his mentally challenged friends to raise Lucy. Sam
works at the local Starbucks where his job is to bus the tables and clean up after customers. His
neighbor Annie who experiences agoraphobia and will not leave her apartment, agrees to babysit and

According to an Oxford journal about autism, "affected children or adults almost always show
evidence of restricted imagination and predilection for rigid routines" (O'Callaghan, 2002).The need
for a set routine is demonstrated when Sam becomes extremely upset when Lucy suggests they go to
Big Boy instead of IHOP; Afterwards when he agrees to go, he starts screaming and acting out
because the restaurant did not have the same pancakes as IHOP. Also Sam and his friends have a set
weekly schedule of Wednesday at IHOP, Thursdays are movie night, and Friday is Karaoke. When
one of the plans is changed it causes high anxiety and angst among the group. "Autism spectrum
disorder is a developmental disorder that affects a persons ability to socialize and communication
with others" (NAMI, 2011). The difficulty with communication is shown throughout the movie. In
one scene, Sam was helping Lucy with her schoolwork and he came across problem could not solve
he mentally shut down and changed the subject. The absence of social normalities is shown when
baby Lucy accidentally makes a woman spill her drink, Sam then try to help the woman by picking
up ice that dropped in the woman cleavage. The unawareness of the social limitations and personal
boundaries is absent, which reinforces the diagnosis for autism. Research by the National Institute
of Neurological Disorders and Strokes concluded that "people with autism

Main Theme Of Shrek
Vincent Garcia Lisa Smith English 101 7 November 2017 Shrek The movie Shrek is a fairytale that
you can watch with family. It's a movie that not only entertains, but it also teaches valuable lessons.
Shrek puts the viewers in awe and gets them excited, so this movie is definitely worth watching!
One of the main themes in this movie is the acceptance of people for who they truly are. In this
movie we witness a lot of prejudice, or just assumptions. People assume that because someone looks
a certain way that they are dangerous. Appearances are deceiving, and this movie shows us exactly
that. To begin, you should all know that Shrek is not your normal fairytale. This ... Show more

As the auction takes place, Donkey is supposed to be sold because he has the amazing ability of
talking just like humans. He does not want to be sold or used for entertainment. Therefore, when it
is his turn to be sold, he is asked to talk but he doesn't. Lucky for him Tinker Bell was nearby and
some of her pixie dust fell on Donkey and he was able to fly for a while. Donkey made fun of the
guy that was supposed to be buying him and thought he would get away. To his surprise, that did not
last, and it resulted in him being chased by all the guards. He and the guards were surprised to find
Shrek roaming through the forest, resulting in the guards running away from Shrek and leaving
Donkey alone. After the guards leave, Shrek is left with Donkey and he wonders why Donkey is still
lingering around. He wonders why Donkey isn't afraid of him and asks him to leave him alone and
to go with his friends. Donkey clarifies to him that can't go with his friends because he has no
friends. Shrek does not seem to care, he wants his privacy. Donkey does not seem to care either and
he follows him all the way to his precious home, his swamp. Donkey does not seem thrilled of the
idea of having to be in Shrek's shack; but he rather be with Shrek in the shack than alone. He asks
Shrek where he's supposed to sleep because according to Donkey he is going to spend the night but

Eddie Mabo Essay
Introduction Throughout Australian history, there have been men and women who fought for the
entitlements of the indigenous people. The most respected and recognised of these is Eddie Mabo, a
Torres Strait Islander. Mabo stood up for the rights of his people from a very young age all the way
to his death, in order to generate changes in the policies and laws of the government. Mabo battled
for his right to own the land which he had inherited from his adoptive father, a fight which was
resolved only after his demise. Despite this, Eddie Mabo became one of the key influential figures
in the Aboriginal rights movement, as his strong will, determination, and intelligence allowed him to
bring about change. Early Life Mabo was born on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He lived a simple existence with his family, caring for the land and learning the traditions of his
people, until his exile from the island. However, meeting his soul mate Bonita in 1958 and marrying
her in 1959 was one of the most significant events to affect him. Bonita quickly became the most
significant person in his life and the driving inspirational force behind his political agendas. She
stood by her husband no matter what, supporting him even when the pressures and struggles of life
almost became too much to bear. Due to the nature of his political agenda, Eddie needed to move
around a lot, and so Bonita helped to raise money in order to pay for these ventures. Towards his
later life, Mabo began to drink heavily to escape from the pressures of daily life, and took out his
frustration on his wife, both verbally and physically. Despite this, even when Bonita took the
children and left, she always returned to support him, because she understood what he was going
through. Eventually, Eddie learned to focus his frustrations onto other things, politics in particular.
Political Struggles At the age of 16, Eddie began to question the system, and the government. He
began to ask why it is that his race is treated differently, and subjected to cruel and unjust laws. This
was the beginning of his career in politics. Later in his years, he learned that the land on Murray

Foul Is Fair In Macbeth
Imagine. You see your son being dragged away. There's nothing you can do about it. You reach out
to him. You're told it's for the better. You remember. Remember the times when you played with
him, watched him grow up. Anger. Anger rising that you can't stop. Angry at the government. Angry
at unfair treatment. It's unfair. It's foul. But that's not what they think, they think it's fair, that foul is
fair. You might be thinking, what is he going on about? The Stolen Generation? The treatment of
Aboriginal people? Land Rights? "Fair is Foul, Foul is Fair". It's a very tricky concept. We find it in
literature, media, political speeches and in everyday life. It is extensively explored in Shakespeare's
Macbeth, where it means that appearances are often deceptive, and that things are different than
what they appear to be. It points towards deception where appearance is not reality. Shakespeare's
Macbeth, encounters the witches and they plant the idea in his head that he deserves to be king. This
makes him vulnerable to his ambitious wife and leads to his downfall as he becomes increasingly
entangled in his own ambitious and murderous deeds. Although, in real life, it is used as a paradox,
a paradigm, a chiasmus, to criticise a person's double standards and dual personalities. It is used
against politicians who present their dual personalities to the public, motivated purely by self–
interest rather than acting for honourable or unselfish reasons. This is how the British and

A Narrative Story : A Story Of A Narrative Story
Narrative Story It all began with a simple Phone call one night after dinner. "Matt," my Father
Hollered up the stairs, "it's for you. It's Joy, and she sounds upset." As I came downstairs to pick up
the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not
another stupid adventure with Joy. Thirty minutes later, however, Joy's silver Mustang convertible
swung into our driveway, and Joy was leaning on the horn before the car came to a full stop.
Grabbing my coat from the couch, I walked out my front door with all the enthusiasm of a man
going to stand before a firing squad. I get in the car and Joy looks like she just saw a ghost.
"Joy what's wrong? I ask, "Are you ok, you seem like you just seen a ghost."
Joy shouts "No Matt I'm not ok, there has been a serious murder in our area recently, actually a
couple blocks away from my house, and they still have no clue who did it, and why they did."
I stare into blank space, and zone out for a bit, not hearing a word Joy says to me.
"HELLO, Matt!" Joy screams, "Do you even care!"
"Yea I do care." Joy replies "Well it doesn't really seem like it, and why are you smirking It's not
funny!"
"I'm not laughing about the murder Joy, I just thought of something funny"
Joy replies in infuriating anger "NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO THINK OF SOMETHING FUNNY,

I felt sorrow for the children but quickly suppressed it because sorrow comes from ungratefulness
and God never did not give me all my wonderful things to be ungrateful. I told the children that the

when I got close to them I heard there hearts beating slowly. I let them eat as much as they fancied

Rhetorical Analysis: The Perfect Body
Body Confidence To feel body confident, you need to be happy with who you are as a women with
or without curves. Many women in this century are facing a lack of confidence by the way they
look. Women may lower their self esteem by seeing another women with a beautiful feature and
compare their look with someone else. A women's body image is based on thoughts and feelings
regarding the way her body looks. Sometimes, they also believe other people are judging their
appearance which can affect their body image. Victoria's Secret unveiled their campaign slogan the
"Perfect Body" with an image of tall and skinny models. However, Curvy Kate, a lingerie brand,
recreates an image using models of all shapes and sizes mocking the Victoria's Secrets slogan. I
argue that the Victoria's Secret slogan, "The Perfect Body" shouldn't symbolize their tall physique
models by aiming for women with a smaller waist size. The advertisement shows its audience that

what a perfect body should look like, when the perfect body should define who you are and how
well you're comfortable in your skin. The significance of this claim is to love and be happy with
yourself because as I stated in this essay, statistics shows that 91% of women are not happy about
their bodies. What can we do to help women who don't feel comfortable in their bodily image?.

A Short Story : A Story?
Turning over in bed, I blinked sleepily at the clock next to me. It read 2:37 am. I stumbled out of
bed and made my way towards my bedroom door. The sound of squeaking hinges could be heard as
I slowly pulled open the door. My footsteps were drowned out by the sound of a voice coming from

curious nine year old little girl I was, I turned and started walking towards my brother's room. I felt
both nervous and confused due to the fact that it was so early in the morning. The voice grew louder
with every hearting racing step I took. My throat grew tighter as I reached for the silver doorknob.
The door squeaked as I pushed it open, just enough to poke my head in and see who he was talking

A Short Story : The Story Of My Life
I always knew that one day, my worst fear would be realized....yet when it did come, I was no where
near ready to accept it.
I understand psychologically that every one and every animal dies... that's life. But, the heart only
feels loss and pain when someone to whom you have given your life to, dies. I say someone as
though I'm speaking about a person, but, I speak of Gizzy, my 13 year old adorable long–haired
Chihuahua, who to me, was every bit as much a fun–loving, heart–beating, personality–filled
happy–go–lucky human being.
I don't know what it feels like to lose a child but I can only fathom that the pain I felt and continue
to feel is a close second to that. I could not imagine my life without my son in it and I'm finding my
life without Gizzy at times, overwhelming even after 6 months.
Gizzy passed away on April 20, 2017 and my life has not been the same since. At first, I could not
function – at all. Richard, my love, had to pick up the pieces of life around me even though he
himself was hurting from the loss.
Richard wanted nothing to do with Gizzy when I first met him but, as was the personality of this
little being, he captured Rich's heart in a way that completely changed him forever. The love they
had for each other was deep and every bit as mutual. It was at this time that I understood why I
loved this man. He completely got me.

Juno and the Paycock
"Juno and the Paycock" by Sean O'Casey is set amidst the height of the Irish Civil War. Throughout
the play, we can see the titular character's, Juno Boyle and Jack Boyle, relationship deteriorate , and
how dramatic events in their lives and the lives of their children, Johnny and Mary, cause the entire
family to collapse. The play is set closely following the signing of the treaty dividing Ireland into
sections and features the resulting conflict between the diehards who want a united, free Ireland, and
the free–staters, who support the treaty, with this conflict representing the clash of fanatical
nationalism and practicality, of idealism and a recognition that what the people truly wanted was
peace. The play also explores some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the converse of this is also true. When, in the second act, the Boyles become apparently
more affluent, we can see a greater degree of affection come to the fore of the relationship. The
windfall of the will causes Juno to treat Boyle less as a child who must be nagged and scolded to
perform any useful, or at least less detrimental, role in the family she holds so dear, and more as the

Rydels Monologue
Rydel wrapped her arms around Ell, dancing to the upbeat music. Her body flowed to the dance as if
it was the only way she could. Each step brought forward her personality, bursting through the most
vibrant colors. Ratliff watched her move, keeping her all to himself, he wanted to be her only
audience, applauding every movement with a wide smile and a kiss. True happiness. Ryland was the
DJ, I was shocked at his talent, it wasn't as easy as it appeared to be, but it looked like a lot of fun.
Although I shouldn't have been surprised, his whole family sweated talent. He had invited about 20
people, strangers to be, and maybe even to them. Both Riker and Ross were dancing with girls. They
had the right to, they owed me nothing, but it did sting a little. Each of them were the same, rubbing
their bodies against the other. It was in no way poetic like Rydel and Ell, but they sure seemed to

I Am Proud Of You
"Mamie, can you pass me the salad?" I asked my grandmother, as we sat eating dinner together. She
immediately passed me the salad. "How was school, sugar?" she asked me. That was her nickname
for me, because when I was five, apparently I used to eat sugar right out of the sugar jar she kept in
the pantry. "It was good. I got an A in my pre–calc exam today," I replied, grinning. "Perfect," she
answered. "I 'm so proud of you, Gigi. But did those girls – Ivanna, Bess, and Emilie – bother you
again?" I hung my head. Lately, these three girls at my school had been bullying me. Being as close
to Mamie as I was, I told her about it. "Yes." She gave me a hug and kissed the top of my head.
"What they say doesn 't matter, sugar. Look at how talented you are. Have you been writing any
music lately?" "Yes!" I exclaimed. "I just finished writing my song! It 's called 'Mystical Dreams '!"
"Can I see it?" she asked. Immediately, I ran upstairs and brought her my little music notebook. I
held it out to her. "Have the new neighbors moved in yet?" I asked. She nodded. "It would be nice of
you to give them some of the crepes I made for dessert and go meet them," she suggested.
"Meanwhile, I 'll read your song." I ran to the kitchen and grabbed five crepes from the pile Mamie

How Does Sean Penn Use Film Techniques In Into The Wild
Thoreau once said "Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves" following this Chris
Mccandless adventures off into the wild on a journey to discover himself without being surrounded
by a materialistic society or his family. Sean Penn delicately crafted cinematography in the film into
the wild makes use of .... to show the challenges of family relationships, the power of words and self
discovery. This is shown through the use of many different filming techniques to emphasise a
certain theme.
The director uses voice overs and cinematography perceptively to emphasise the challenges of
family relationships. In the film before Chris and his sister Carnie go to the lunch with his parents
he reads her a poem– "She's the wrong woman, he's the wrong man. You are going to do bad things
to children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film there are many examples of where Penn has shown the power of words but one of the
main examples shown throughout the movie is when his younger sister Carnie does voice overs in
the film. One of the main examples of this is when she said this "Chris measured himself and those
around him by a fiercely rigorous moral code. He risked what could have been a relentless lonely
path but found comfort in the character of book he loved... he could summon their words to suit any
occasion, and he would often." This displays that Chris can strongly relate to many of his favourite
authors, who have been able to capture Chris's emotions, thought and feelings in their words. An
establishing shot that also symbolises the power of words, would be when the shot of Chris is just
walked into the wild of Alaska in the opening scene. This establishing shot creates the idea of
loneliness, isolation and shows the purity in nature as he walks into the wildness. These show us
how our words can impact others in both a negative and positive

Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau
Both Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau explore the idea of authentic living and
simplicity, throughout both texts they portray their ideas to the audience. The film Into the WIld
largely encaptures the ideas of Henry David Thoreau, sometimes by quoting him, especially his
extremely famous piece Where I Lived and What I Lived For. It is very obvious to the audience that
Chris is a fan of Thoreau's writing and he connects to it greatly. Chris is able to portray to the
audience that he has the same ideas as Thoreau by talking about his writing occasionally. He
explains simplicity to the people he is close with in order to help them understand why he believes
that simplistic living is so important and beneficial. The ideas that ... Show more content on

The poison of society is displayed in an eye opening way to the audience in both texts and assists in
proving the point of the need for escape from society. The significance of simplistic living is
demonstrated throughout the texts and soundtrack of the film. A piece from the film that guides the
importance of escape from pressure is titled "Society" written by Eddie Vedder. The piece helps the
reader understand what Chris is truly feeling and how it is effecting his happiness in extreme ways.
The song demonstrates the pressures and difficulties of societies "we have greed, to which we have
agreed, you think you have to want, more than you need, until you have it all you won't be free"
(Into the Wild, Eddie Vedder). These few lines exemplify the greed many people show without
knowing it, it is demonstrating how people always feel the need for more materials without being
grateful for what they already have. It is also showing how people are extremely unhappy when they
don't have everything that they want or feel that they need. This piece is extremely important in the
film because it perfectly captures Chris's feelings towards the poisoned society and his disgust
towards ungrateful and unauthentic people. While "Society" is being played during the film Chris is
being shown living his life in Alaska and working hard to feed himself, but he is happy in nature. It
helps the audience see

two massive doors behind one were life and bliss, behind another lies a man–eating beast.
The choice he makes of the two doors solely depending on a Semi–Barbaric princess. Whose train

This passage has even implied that she took pleasure in attending and was so terribly interested. Her
interest was not to see her lover with another woman but to see him being ripe apart by the savage

Lastly, her pride would have been hurt. Being royalty, a princess would have standards and

Rickenbacker's Accomplishments
Edward Vernon Rickenbacker, more commonly known as "Eddie", was the third of eight children,
born to William and Elizabeth Rickenbacker in Columbus, Ohio on October 8, 1890. Just as most
adolescent boys, he went through a defiant stage. As a child, he was quite the delinquent, for he
began smoking at the age of 5 and often spent time with a group of ornery kids called the
"Horsehead Gang." He was quickly whipped into shape by his father, however, who tragically died
at a construction site in 1904. Due to the absence of his father and the toll it took on his family,
Rickenbacker quit school at age 12 and brought it upon himself to assume the position as the
provider for his family. His longing for aviation did not start at this time, but during World War I.
Even so, he made his impact on history during the 20th century through his many successes in aerial
warfare.
Rickenbacker had several odd jobs before finding work in the Frayer Miller Air Cooled Car
Company. From his job of testing cars he made his way into racing. Rickenbacker's fame started
before the first world war, as he became one of the most accomplished race car drivers of his time in

His feet were tired from walking as he came home from school. This "he" was Ethiquilo (known as
Ethiq for his "logic"), a sporty boy with nothing special than a house that was six miles away from
the school. To him, it was six thousand miles.
As he opened the door to his house, cries where heard. He ran to the noise and found his mom and
dad, weeping on the floor. His younger sister and older brother were comforting them with slight
patting and rubbing circles on their back. Lyior, one of his younger sisters, was crying along side
them. Rob, his older brother, had tears threatening to fall. Rob never cried, even with that gunshot
wound from the school's past mass shootings. When Rob cried, something was wrong.
Ethiq tried finding his other sister, Helkie. Helkie and Lyior were twins; surely they would be
together, but she wasn't there. He dropped his school bag thinking of the missing children incident.
`More than half of the town was gone, taken somewhere by a mad man who lost his daughter and

Literary Devices In The Book Thief
Promp 2– Liesel Meminger was a girl that went through a lot throughout her life. During our short
time of reading about her life we saw her go through so many emotions, struggles, and different
changes. Throughout The Book Thief by Markus Zusak we see a girls story during the time of WW2
and the Holocaust. We read this story of Liesel Meminger and wonder how anyone could ever
survive during a time like this, because for most people this was an extremely awful time to live in.
But through his use of imagery, and other literary devices, Zukas found a way to write a perfect
book describing this girl's life and to show how genuinely hard it was to live during this time. One
of the first things we see Liesel going through is the separation of her and her mother. Which leads
to her also losing her brother due to the fact that he died during their journey to Liesel's new home.
This was one of Liesel's obstacles as when she says "There was a chaos of goodbyes.". At first this
may not look like it would be a gigantic obstacle by how it was worded. But once you read into the
context of the sentence and take in how Zukas worded it to fill your mind with the imagery of
Liesel's thoughts you see how hard this is for her. Her brother has just died, and on the same day
that she realizes she will never see him again she is forced away from her mother and she will also
never see her mother again. During this time of the book this might have been something that
happened a lot, but

Magic Realism In The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World
At its most basic level, magical realism is the mixture of the supernatural with realistic
characteristics. This genre is known for having specific traits to help classify if a work of art is in
the genre. One work of art that exemplifies almost all of these traits is "The Handsomest Drowned
Man in the World" by Gabriel García Márquez. After a washed up corpse is found in a small village,
the people of the city fall in love with the man's tallness and his handsomeness. They quickly decide
to worship him and they want to better themselves because of him. On the other hand, one example
of a misconception of magical realism is Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton. The central character,
Edward Bloom, recounts his life with exaggerated stories to his son Will, who thinks the
embellished tales are unnecessary and insulting. As his father is sick, Will travels to be with him.
During his visit, Will gets a more in–depth view of his father's real life and the truth of what his life
actually was. This film has some of the traits, but not enough to classify it as part of the magical
realism genre.
One crucial trait needed for magical realism is the idea of irreducible magic. This means magic that
cannot be normalized or reduced throughout the work of art. Big Fish very clearly breaks this
characteristic. In Edward's stories, he magnifies the sense of magic. When Ed passes away, Will
discovers that all the magic Ed encountered throughout his life was relatively normal compared to

Descriptive Essay On The Haunted House
Two boys were walking on the campus of Bridgeville Academy. They were each armed with a pile
of books that threatened to topple onto the well–worn paved parking lot of the school. They turned
out of the campus and began walking down the sidewalk towards home. The air was chilly and the
leaves were beginning to shed their emerald green gowns for scarlet, gold, and, fiery orange. The
boys were in good spirits and they walked briskly down the walkway. Before long, the houses had
started to get bigger and farther apart.
"Oh, no," one of the boys groaned as he stopped in his tracks.
"What is it, Jeremy? the second boy asked.
"It's the Haunted Mansion, Dave," the boy named Jeremy whispered nervously. A few houses from
where they stood was the house that many people called "The Haunted Mansion". They knew that it

Every person struggle is different. Some have worked sweat and tears for their achievements while
others have had things just handed to them and do not really know the struggle of hard work. Some
people work as hard as they can and at the end of the day, they still cannot seem to succeed, as they
would like to. They can work hard, live a good legal life, and yet still cannot make ends meet at the
end of the day. The film "Trading places," and the Not everybody in America has the same
opportunity to be successful because one person's environment may be much rougher than another
person environment. A person's environment is a key factor in their success. A person born into
poverty is going to have a much harder time to get ahead than a person that is born into a wealthy
family or environment. It is as if they are already in a negative situation before they even have a
chance to begin life. A person born into poverty doesn't have that extra time to do homework at
home because they might have to be home taking care of other siblings while guardians are at work.
Sometimes they might not even be at home babysitting; they might have to get a job themselves
because the money situation is so tight at home. While a person born to a wealthier family has that
extra time to study, that person has the extra time to participate in extracurricular activities that
might be a key to success. They do not have to worry about little things, which allow them to
concentrate all of their time,

The, A Modern Classic By Diane Samuels
How does Samuel present strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga's relationship?
Kindertransport, a modern classic by Diane Samuels, cleverly illustrates the mechanisms of a
mother/daughter relationship alongside themes of post–modernism, feminism and identity. Nine
months before the outbreak of WWII, 10 000 unaccompanied Jewish children were sent to England
as a precautionary measure due to the Kristallnacht. One of them was Eva, daughter of Helga, sent
unwillingly because of her mother's wishes to keep her alive. Presently, Evelyn is sending her
daughter to college. Old memories resurface as Evelyn is forced to confront – her childhood as Eva.
Throughout this play, Samuels presents strong feelings in Helga and Evelyn's relationship such as
loss, betrayal and guilt.
Samuels presents strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga's relationship through the idea of post–
modernism, particularly in Act 1 Scene 2. She shows that Evelyn wants to believe Helga never
existed and has locked away her past in the attic, long forgotten. When interrogated about her
childhood, she bluntly replies: 'I certainly have (forgotten).' Through her straight forward reply
Samuels shows that Evelyn believes everything that Helga once represented – her religion, beliefs
and identity – were an image drawn by everyone and everything around her. Evelyn explicitly tells
her daughter 'I have never lied to you' regarding her past. She is saying that she was never Jewish
nor German. Evelyn could be implying that identity

Examples Of Dishonesty In Everything I Never Told You
The foundation of any successful relationship is honesty and open communication.
In Everything I Never Told You, the Lee family steadily unravels because of deep loss and rampant
dishonesty. The novel opens with Lydia's death and continues as a flashback of the events leading
up to her passing. Celeste Ng places importance on certain objects and locations as powerful
representations of the Lee family: their desires, challenges, and disappointments. In Celeste Ng's,
Everything I Never Told You, the symbols of the Betty Crocker Cookbook and a discovered pack of
cigarettes reflect that it is impossible to fully know someone when dishonesty is present.
The Betty Crocker cookbook is a symbol of Marilyn's distant relationship with her mother. ... Show

When Lydia does not come down for breakfast, "Marilyn opens her daughter's door and sees the bed
unslept in: neat hospital corners still pleated beneath the comforter, pillow still fluffed and convex.
Nothing seems out of place" (1–2). The outward appearance of Lydia's room satisfies Marilyn, as it
is organized, with nothing out of place. Like Lydia, the outside seems perfect, but there is much
more beneath the surface. Lydia conceals her true nature by presenting a facade that merely mimics
what her parents want her to be. After discovering a pack of cigarettes and a box of condoms in
Lydia's backpack, Marilyn "looks down at the two tiny boxes caught in the hammock of her skirt,
and the outlines of Lydia's life––so sharp and clear before––begin to waver" (120). All of Lydia's
life, Marilyn and James pressure her to be perfect, academic, and well–liked. Lydia pretends to be
all these things by hiding failed tests, faking phone calls with friends, and feigning an interest in
science. Because Lydia cannot be honest with her parents, she begins to make and conceal reckless
choices, such as smoking, having sex, and sneaking out of the house. Upon finding these items in
her backpack, Marilyn is confronted with the reality that much of Lydia's life was unknown to

The Day My Family And I Moved

  • 1. The Day My Family And I Moved Fifteenth May 2014: The day my family and I moved from Chicago to London because of my Dads promotion. I was enraged about the move though, my family were filled with outright awe. The thought of moving to London, trying new cultures and meeting new individuals tempted them to moving. School: Their accent and uniform – everything was odd. My brother then again delighted in finding another nation and way of life, so he fitted in superbly. Every second was hell and the hall possessed an aroma similar to stagnant body odor. My list of issues were endless: lack of friends, severe bullying, Oh if you didn 't know The name Evans, Josh Evans. Next period was science BO–OORING. "Cool room" whispered Eva, as she looked back at me with a blend of delight and utter awe of how indecent my personal hygiene was. After 4 hours , we were in deep in conversation not the slightest bit exhausted of each others company. This was a reward as I trusted it solidified my feelings for her. In any case we weren 't completing any work , yet this didn 't trouble me at all as we getting to know each other properly. I thought I knew a lot more about her until she blurted out with shame "I used to date Jeremy". Jeremy is a dominant jerk. At school he would make my life hell while he would treat the school as a kingdom under his tyrannous rule. Thoughts were racing through my mind. I could just consider one thing to do. As I was going to say something Eva jumped from her seat into my lap and put her lips on mine. Bang! The door viciously swung open. The other side stood my mum with milk and cookies. "ERMM sorry to interrupt" my mum said awkwardly with a smirk. She rapidly did a U– turn and gradually shut the door, giving me a quick wink as she did so. "I am so sorry" whispered Eva awkwardly. Suddenly she ran out of my room in complete and utter humiliation. The following day in school; Eva and I rapidly got over the past days ' shame and strolled down the corridor. Snickering ... • 2. My Family Essay I grew up in a small family in India. There were a plenty of things that I was able to learn from my family. I wouldn't be here, where I am now, without my family. Family defines the most important things in this world. Family is the place where everyone can learn and express the things they learn. I'm grateful for my family. But I still remember the time my parents told me that "we are going to America, the land of dreams." I was only thirteen years old then. All those years, I lived in my own country, and quickly moving to America was really hard for me. When I came to know this, it was really shocking to me, I couldn't stop thinking about my life in America. I never stopped to think about the people I was leaving behind, my companions, ... I never had to solve a problem in my family due to it being so perfect for me. In a society, there would be many struggles and difficulties in families, but I believe family is something that holds us. It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can't have the life I had in India. So, that transformation of the new lifestyle was extremely hard. Holy Family University also states, "A community united by a common mission." Even though family should be united in one; my family wasn't able to stay unite because of the different lifestyle in America. But throughout this semester at Holy Family University, I am able to see how supportive and caring each faculty and staffs are. They are just a reflection of a family. The problem I am having with my family from the time we moved to America is the lack of communication because of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully, we try our best to give time for each other before going to bed. Societies are facing numerous divorces every day. I would say, the lack of communication is the main reason for all these divorces. Every generation has different concepts on everything and their lifestyle changes too. People go with the flow of the new ways of living that is followed by people around them. It's nighttime out at the 2017 Fulton County Fair. Groups of people are lining up to get into the fair for the Loverboy and Survivor Classic Rock concert. A few hours later the concert will be over and people will be going home. That means it's time to pull the "money trick" on people as they leave the concert later. His friends names were Brock, Payton, Ethan, Cody, and Trey. After we all introduced ourselves to each other we walked over to a big area with bases. "Who should be on each team," Nick asked. Nick was the first kicker up, and I was pitching. Gracie, Kenzie, Cody, and Ethan were behind me getting ready for Nick to kick. I pitch nick the ball then "wham!" Why The Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find Similar to every character in any given work of literature, the grandmother from "A Good Man is Hard to Find," had several attributes, both pleasing and vexatious. Of all her many qualities, I greatly valued her ability to consistently speak her mind, even in the face of danger. Never was she shy to give way to her true emotions and allow those around her to view her perspective on the events occurring within her life, a rarity in today's society. Additionally, it was made obvious how deeply she cared for her family in her desperate attempt to persuade The Misfit to return to the "good man" she assumed he once was and therefore permit the family to safely escape the dangerous predicament. In the article by Ellen Goodman called "The Company Man" the main character, Phil, does exactly this. Mabo stood up for the rights of his people from a very young age all the way to his death, in order to generate changes in the policies and laws of the government. Mabo battled for his right to own the land which he had inherited from his adoptive father, a fight which was resolved only after his demise. Despite this, Eddie Mabo became one of the key influential figures in the Aboriginal rights movement, as his strong will, determination, and intelligence allowed him to bring about change. Bonita quickly became the most significant person in his life and the driving inspirational force behind his political agendas. She stood by her husband no matter what, supporting him even when the pressures and struggles of life almost became too much to bear. Due to the nature of his political agenda, Eddie needed to move around a lot, and so Bonita helped to raise money in order to pay for these ventures. Towards his later life, Mabo began to drink heavily to escape from the pressures of daily life, and took out his frustration on his wife, both verbally and physically. Despite this, even when Bonita took the children and left, she always returned to support him, because she understood what he was going through. Eventually, Eddie learned to focus his frustrations onto other things, politics in particular. Political Struggles At the age of 16, Eddie began to question the system, and the government. He began to ask why it is that his race is treated differently, and subjected to cruel and unjust laws. This was the beginning of his career in politics. Remember the times when you played with him, watched him grow up. Anger. Anger rising that you can't stop. Angry at the government. Angry at unfair treatment. It's unfair. It's foul. But that's not what they think, they think it's fair, that foul is fair. You might be thinking, what is he going on about? The Stolen Generation? The treatment of Aboriginal people? Land Rights? "Fair is Foul, Foul is Fair". It's a very tricky concept. We find it in literature, media, political speeches and in everyday life. It is extensively explored in Shakespeare's Macbeth, where it means that appearances are often deceptive, and that things are different than what they appear to be. It points towards deception where appearance is not reality. Shakespeare's Macbeth, encounters the witches and they plant the idea in his head that he deserves to be king. This makes him vulnerable to his ambitious wife and leads to his downfall as he becomes increasingly entangled in his own ambitious and murderous deeds. Although, in real life, it is used as a paradox, a paradigm, a chiasmus, to criticise a person's double standards and dual personalities. It is used against politicians who present their dual personalities to the public, motivated purely by self– interest rather than acting for honourable or unselfish reasons. Thirty minutes later, however, Joy's silver Mustang convertible swung into our driveway, and Joy was leaning on the horn before the car came to a full stop. Grabbing my coat from the couch, I walked out my front door with all the enthusiasm of a man going to stand before a firing squad. I get in the car and Joy looks like she just saw a ghost. Joy shouts "No Matt I'm not ok, there has been a serious murder in our area recently, actually a couple blocks away from my house, and they still have no clue who did it, and why they did." "I'm not laughing about the murder Joy, I just thought of something funny" Joy replies in infuriating anger "NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO THINK OF SOMETHING FUNNY, THIS IS SERIOUS MATT!" The piece helps the reader understand what Chris is truly feeling and how it is effecting his happiness in extreme ways. The song demonstrates the pressures and difficulties of societies "we have greed, to which we have agreed, you think you have to want, more than you need, until you have it all you won't be free" (Into the Wild, Eddie Vedder). • 31. Literary Devices In The Book Thief Promp 2– Liesel Meminger was a girl that went through a lot throughout her life. During our short time of reading about her life we saw her go through so many emotions, struggles, and different changes. Throughout The Book Thief by Markus Zusak we see a girls story during the time of WW2 and the Holocaust. We read this story of Liesel Meminger and wonder how anyone could ever survive during a time like this, because for most people this was an extremely awful time to live in. But through his use of imagery, and other literary devices, Zukas found a way to write a perfect book describing this girl's life and to show how genuinely hard it was to live during this time. One of the first things we see Liesel going through is the separation of her and her mother. Which leads to her also losing her brother due to the fact that he died during their journey to Liesel's new home. This was one of Liesel's obstacles as when she says "There was a chaos of goodbyes.". At first this may not look like it would be a gigantic obstacle by how it was worded. But once you read into the context of the sentence and take in how Zukas worded it to fill your mind with the imagery of Liesel's thoughts you see how hard this is for her. Her brother has just died, and on the same day that she realizes she will never see him again she is forced away from her mother and she will also never see her mother again. During this time of the book this might have been something that happened a lot, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Magic Realism In The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World At its most basic level, magical realism is the mixture of the supernatural with realistic characteristics. This genre is known for having specific traits to help classify if a work of art is in the genre. One work of art that exemplifies almost all of these traits is "The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" by Gabriel García Márquez. After a washed up corpse is found in a small village, the people of the city fall in love with the man's tallness and his handsomeness. They quickly decide to worship him and they want to better themselves because of him. On the other hand, one example of a misconception of magical realism is Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton. The central character, Edward Bloom, recounts his life with exaggerated stories to his son Will, who thinks the embellished tales are unnecessary and insulting. As his father is sick, Will travels to be with him. During his visit, Will gets a more in–depth view of his father's real life and the truth of what his life actually was. This film has some of the traits, but not enough to classify it as part of the magical realism genre. One crucial trait needed for magical realism is the idea of irreducible magic. This means magic that cannot be normalized or reduced throughout the work of art. Big Fish very clearly breaks this characteristic. In Edward's stories, he magnifies the sense of magic. When Ed passes away, Will discovers that all the magic Ed encountered throughout his life was relatively normal compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Descriptive Essay On The Haunted House Two boys were walking on the campus of Bridgeville Academy. They were each armed with a pile of books that threatened to topple onto the well–worn paved parking lot of the school. They turned out of the campus and began walking down the sidewalk towards home. The air was chilly and the leaves were beginning to shed their emerald green gowns for scarlet, gold, and, fiery orange. The boys were in good spirits and they walked briskly down the walkway. Before long, the houses had started to get bigger and farther apart. "Oh, no," one of the boys groaned as he stopped in his tracks. "What is it, Jeremy? the second boy asked. "It's the Haunted Mansion, Dave," the boy named Jeremy whispered nervously. A few houses from where they stood was the house that many people called "The Haunted Mansion". They knew that it wasn't really haunted, but it was hard to tell when you looked at it. The old fashioned brick house seemed ready to topple over at any moment. The large yard was overrun with weeds. The windows and doors were boarded over and the beat up front door was half hidden by weeds. "I almost forgot about this place," Dave said as he walked closer to the gloomy house. "Dave, where are you going!" Jeremy exclaimed as he sprinted to catch up with his friend. Dave had stopped right in front of the house and stared at the unwelcoming windows. • 39. The, A Modern Classic By Diane Samuels How does Samuel present strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga's relationship? Kindertransport, a modern classic by Diane Samuels, cleverly illustrates the mechanisms of a mother/daughter relationship alongside themes of post–modernism, feminism and identity. Nine months before the outbreak of WWII, 10 000 unaccompanied Jewish children were sent to England as a precautionary measure due to the Kristallnacht. One of them was Eva, daughter of Helga, sent unwillingly because of her mother's wishes to keep her alive. Presently, Evelyn is sending her daughter to college. Old memories resurface as Evelyn is forced to confront – her childhood as Eva. Throughout this play, Samuels presents strong feelings in Helga and Evelyn's relationship such as loss, betrayal and guilt. Samuels presents strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga's relationship through the idea of post– modernism, particularly in Act 1 Scene 2. She shows that Evelyn wants to believe Helga never existed and has locked away her past in the attic, long forgotten. When interrogated about her childhood, she bluntly replies: 'I certainly have (forgotten).' Through her straight forward reply Samuels shows that Evelyn believes everything that Helga once represented – her religion, beliefs and identity – were an image drawn by everyone and everything around her. Evelyn explicitly tells her daughter 'I have never lied to you' regarding her past. She is saying that she was never Jewish nor German. Evelyn could be implying that identity ... Like Lydia, the outside seems perfect, but there is much more beneath the surface. Lydia conceals her true nature by presenting a facade that merely mimics what her parents want her to be.
