7. because …Women role____ ______________________________
in the communist society, in Romania, the woman
had to be a great mother, accomplishing all her
duties at home
but in a parallel plan she had to be a good socialist
worker, who wasn’t to be discriminated when it
came to work done only by men
10. Beginning with 1966 and until 1989 revolution,
Romanian women’s fertility was permanently
supervised by state officials.
In order to pursue his goals, Ceausescu was very
supportive towards the employment of women in all
areas of activity.
Ceausescu began to glorify women in terms of its
role of "mother of the nation" - a concept of gender
identity.
Women tended to dominate low-skilled jobs and
certain professions such as medicine and teaching,
and, on average, earned less than men.

tasks at work, take children to school or kindergarten and to
make purchases on the way home, to cook, to clean, to wash,
to help children with homework and take them to bed, to
make notes for session topics for the day or during the
qualification to which they were entered, super-woman was
not only an insult but a joke.”

15. Engels say that unnatural character of man's domination
over women in the modern family and the need to establish
real social equality between the sexes, will be presented as
urgent only when men and women are truly equal before the
law.
Also, as Nagel says: “women are thought by traditionalists to
embody family and national honour; women`s shame is the
family`s shame, the nation`s shame, the man`s shame”.
But Women in Ceausescu's Romania anonymity aesthetic
consequences dual and even contradictory: it is idealized
symbol of the nation, yet is powerless victim of socialist
policies.
