This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
This presentation provides an introduction to quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis and marker-assisted selection (MAS) in plant breeding. The presentation begins by explaining the type of quantitative traits. The process of QTL analysis, including the use of molecular genetic markers and statistical methods, is discussed. Practical examples demonstrating the power of MAS are provided, such as its use in improving crop traits in plant breeding programs. Overall, this presentation offers a comprehensive overview of these important genomics-based approaches that are transforming modern agriculture.

How much time do you spend
worrying about something that
either doesn’t happen, or doesn’t
turn out as bad as you thought?
Often just writing down your concerns can help
them feel less overwhelming, but this app also
helps you track the thought process behind
the things that you worry about. By adding
your worries into a logbook, noting what you
think might happen and then how the situation
actually turned out, this app helps you to monitor
trends and patterns in your thinking. In addition
to helping you visualise your thought patterns,
the process of writing down your expectations
and the actual outcome of situations helps
to demonstrate that often, our worries are
unnecessary and irrational.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or
CBT is one of the most widely
recognised and accredited
treatment methods for mental
health conditions, including
depression and anxiety.
CBT is all about learning to re-train your
brain toward more positive and helpful
thought patterns and break down negative
or distorted thoughts. This intuitive, practical
app puts the power of CBT in your pocket.
By working through the various stages of the
app, you’ll eventually develop a new, more
positive thought perspective on what was
originally a distressing situation. This is a great
tool to help you logically assess your thought
patterns and identify things that might be
worrying you unnecessarily.

This app helps users understand
and manage the symptoms of post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
While it was originally designed for veterans
and serving Defence Force personnel, this
app can help anyone who thinks they may be
suffering from PTSD or have been diagnosed
with PTSD in the past. The app allows you
to tell it when you’re feeling distressed,
why you’re feeling that way and on what
scale you’re experiencing distress. It will
then respond with an appropriate coping
mechanism, or in cases of extreme distress,
provide you with the contact details of a crisis
hotline. Genius!
