Lecture Objectives (Blood Module) Vitamin B12 & Folic Acid At the end of the lecture, the student should be able to: 1. Describe the chemical nature of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 2. Enumerate the dietary sources of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 3. Describe the sources and RDA of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 4. Explain the absorption of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 5. Describe the biochemical role of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 6. Describe the deficiency states of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid. 7. Differentiate between Pernicious anaemia and megaloblastic anaemia of foliate deficiency.
