2. To appreciate the importance of water as an Ideal biologic solvent.

4. Discuss the hydrogen ion production in body.
5. To appreciate the importance of maintaining the pH of body fluids.
6. Define buffers.
7. Explain the mechanism of action buffers.
8. Justify that bicarbonate buffer is the major buffer of body.
9. Enumerate the clinical states of disturbed pH.
