4. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• Before Starting
Make Sure that Boiler Feed Water is:
a) Hardness < 5 ppm
b) pH 8.5 to 9.5
c) Oxygen Nil
Fuel Viscosity 5 to 10 CST
Ensure that the steam temperature controller setting is not altered. The knob
pointer should be set 10 Degree Celsius above saturation Temperature of Steam.
Ensure Drain Valve of Economizer is closed.
5. • Sequence Of Operations: STARTING
Open the valve on Water supply Line
Put the Electric Main Switch on . Observe White Control lamp comes On.
Put the Fuel Heater switch on to start fuel Pre-heating. (For FO)
Close the main steam valve and open vent valve to prevent water entering process
steam line.
Put the knob on FILL position to fill up the coil.
When the water starts coming out of vent and required fuel temperature is
reached unit can be fired. Put the knob on FIRE position.
Green BURNER ON lamp comes on , fuel Spray Starts and Flame is Established.
After 3 to 5 minutes steam is seen coming out of vent. Open the main steam valve
and close the vent valve
6. • RUNNING ATTENTION
TEST water Hardness. BOILER SHOULD NEVER BE WORKED WITH HARD
FEED WATER.
Observe for any abnormal sound or any Leakage.
The flame should be steady and Golden Yellow in color. Reddish flame
Indicates that the combustion air is insufficient.
Exhaust from the chimney almost colorless
• Sequence Of Operations: STOPPING
Close the steam stop valve completely .the pressure switch will cut off the
Boiler
Put the switch on OFF position
Put off the Heater Switch
Put off the electric main switch
CLOSE the outlet off soft water service tank and fuel oil service tank
7. DO’S AND DON’TS
• WATER SYSTEM
Feed only soft and suitable water to the Boiler. NEVER feed Hard Water as this will
result in scale Formation and choking up the coil.
NEVER run the water pump with insufficient or incorrect lubricating oil.
• FUEL SYSTEM
Never run fuel pump dry.
Use fuel additives for Improving combustion
NEVER set the point of the fuel Temperature controller above 130 deg Celcius
Ensure supply of clean filtered fuel.
8. REMEMBER
BOILER IS A CRITICAL
