Heating and Air Conditioning Unit - Install
SMCS - 7304-012; 7309-012; 7320-012
Installation Procedure
Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.
Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away
to help prevent injury.
Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are
opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.
Always use precaution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the
fitting. If the system is still under pressure, release it slowly in a well
ventilated area.
Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a
lit cigarette.
Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other
smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air
conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.
Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant
gas may be present.
Use a certified recovery and recycling cart to properly remove the
refrigerant from the air conditioning system.

1. Position the heating and air conditioning unit. Install bolt (27) and connect two hoses (26).
Tighten two hose clamps (25).
2. Install bolts (24), (23), and (22). Tighten bolt (22) to a torque of 3.85 ± 0.65 N·m
(2.84 ± 0.479 lb ft). Tighten bolt (23) to a torque of 9.35 ± 1.45 N·m (6.90 ± 1.070 lb ft).
3. Position mount (21) for the relays. Install bolts (19). Connect six harness assemblies (20).

4. Use two people and position support assembly (18). The weight of support assembly (18) is
approximately 24 kg (52 lb). Install assembly (17) for the air distribution system.
5. Install duct (16) and bolt (15).

6. Install duct (14) and bolts (13). Install vents (12).
7. Install bolts (11) and duct (10).
8. Install panel (9) and five screws (8).

9. Install cover (6) and bolts (7).
10. Connect nine harness assemblies (5).

11. Install bolts (4).
12. Roll floormat (2) backward and position plate (3). Install bolts (1).
13. Charge the air conditioner system. The correct charge is 0.9979 kg (2.2 lb). Refer to Service
Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for
the procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the
tools.
14. Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual,
"Capacities (Refill)" for the proper amount of coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance
Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" for the proper type of coolant.
End By:
a. Install the seat support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Seat Support - Remove and
Install".

Blower Motor (Air Conditioner, Heater) - Remove and Install
SMCS - 7304-010-BW; 7309-010-BW; 7320-010-BW
Removal Procedure
Start By:
A. Remove the heating and air conditioning unit. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Heating and Air Conditioning Unit - Remove".
1. Remove screws (1) and cover (2) . Remove air filter (3) .

2. Disconnect hose (4) . Remove bolts (5) .
3. Remove screws (6) and the clips. Remove screw (7) and cap (8) . Remove clips (9) .

4. Remove three screws (12) and actuator (11) . Disconnect linkage (13) . Disconnect harness
assembly (14) . Remove clips (10) and separate the housing.
5. Remove blower motor (15) .
1. Install blower motor (15) into the housing.

2. Connect the housing and install clips (10) . Connect harness assembly (14) . Connect
linkage (13) . Position actuator (11) and install three screws (12) .
3. Install clips (9) . Install cap (8) and screw (7) . Install the clips and screws (6) .

4. Install bolts (5) and connect hose (4) .
5. Install air filter (3) . Install cover (2) and screws (1) .
End By: Install the heating and air conditioning unit. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Heating and Air Conditioning Unit - Install".

NOTICE
Effective July 1, 1992 regulations prohibit the venting of any
refrigerant into the atmosphere. Refer to Caterpillar publications
Service Manuals, SENR3334, SENR5664, and NEDG5065 for the
proper procedure, the proper equipment, and the proper tools needed
in order to reclaim refrigerant from any Caterpillar equipment.
Note: Reclaim the refrigerant before any lines are loosened or any bolts are loosened.
1. Reclaim the refrigerant in the air conditioning system.
Reference: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Refrigerant Recovery" for the correct
procedure.
2. Remove bolts (2) and disconnect hose assemblies (1) from receiver-dryer (3).
3. Remove bolts (4), the clamp, and receiver-dryer (3).

1. Position receiver-dryer (3). Install the clamp and bolts (4).
2. Connect hose assemblies (1) and install bolts (5) to receiver-dryer (3).

Actuator Motor (Damper Assembly) - Remove and Install

Start By:
a. Remove the seat support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Seat Support - Remove and
Install".
Removal Procedure for the Actuator Motor for the Floor Vent, Front and
Rear Vents
1. Remove bolts (1). Remove plate (3) and roll floormat (2) forward.

Note: Put identification marks on all of the harness assemblies for installation purposes.
3. Disconnect nine harness assemblies (5).
4. Remove bolts (7) and remove cover (6).

6. Remove screw (10). Disconnect linkage (12) and remove plate (11).
7. Disconnect harness assembly (15). Remove screws (13). Remove actuator (14).

1. Remove bolts (1). Remove plate (3) and roll floormat (2) forward.
