2. About the band
The band were formed In 2005 and were signed
to their first record label by 2007. they released
their first self titled debut album that september
which reached number 1 on the uk album charts
and went platinum in terms of total sales. A
second album was released in april 2010 and
peaked at number 2 in the charts. With their first
album they were signed on Tuesday, met the
producer on Wednesday and were recording by
Monday.
3. Scouting for girls began to do concerts In a room
above a pub in Harrow. By the time they were
signed they had built up a fan base on myspace
and pulse rated, a website for unsigned bands.
At the beginning of 2007 Epic records received
the bands demo cd, his response was “these are
hits, lets go see the band in rehearsals.” every
other record label had passed them on.
4. On the 14thfebruary 2007 scouting for girls were
signed to Epic uk ( a division of sony). The band
were almost already fully formed with all their
songs written they headed out to the studios to
work on their debut album almost immediately.
The bands first release was “its not about you”
on the 25thjune 2007 which sold over 900,000 in
the uk. They toured heavily in uk, europe, japan,
australia and america, selling out venues in
every city. There first single of the second album
went straight to number 1 and now they are
currently working on their 3rd album.
5. Synergy
Sony erricson helped boost scouting for girls
ringtones, this is a form of synergy as sonys
phone company is helping to boost their music
company.
7. production
The video for the song love how it hurts was
filmed at a service station on their way back from
a gig and according to their Twitter, "Total Budget
£9.36”. Epic UK went to external company’s to
make the videos for the bands songs.
8. distribution
There second album “everybody wants to be on
tv” was first distributed on scott mills BBC radio
1. it is the second time producer andy green has
collaborated with scouting for girls to produce an
album. Scouting for girls single “shes so lovely”
was also featured on the film angus thongs and
perfect snogging. The bands fans are mainly
teenagers which is also the target age for the
film. This helped advertise them and to boost
their popularity.
