The document discusses conventions used in the production of a music video. It describes how the video uses lip syncing accurately to match the singer's mouth movements with the words of the song, to appear professional. It also includes a narrative to convey a clear message, showing the singer pulling his desk to represent being overwhelmed by work. Another convention is the inclusion of instruments, with scenes of the singer playing guitar to represent the acoustic genre of the song.
How our music video uses conventions of real media
1. Evaluation Question 1- In what way does your
media product use, develop or challenge
forms and convention of real media products?
2. In our music video we have used a
variety of key conventions in order to
make and produce a good music
video, One of the key conventions that
we used was that was displayed in our
music video is lip syncing by our only
singer. The lip syncing is used various
times in different scenes of the music
video it is used over and over again to
show that the singer is actually singing
the song like it is a real life occurrence.
The convention is very important as it can
be seen as very unprofessional and fake if
the lip-syncing is not done accurately as
it wouldn’t look right with the music, this is
an convention that can be easily spotted
by different audiences as there is a lot of
lip syncing that goes on in music videos
so if there was an error then audiences
would spot this.
This all has major effects as this may discourage
people to watch and buy the music video. As
we took all this in we made sure that we done
this correctly in order to make our music video
effective as possible, we made sure that the lip
syncing went with the words with the song and
the facial expressions that our singer was making
to make it professional.
3. In our music video we also used another key convention of having real media
products by using a narrative in our video. Our music video has a story behind
it that most artist now days use in their music videos to get a clear message
across to their audiences, as you can see by the picture our singer is pulling his
work desk along to show that his work is everywhere he goes he cant get
away from this and it feels like it’s a dead weight that he has to carry.
4. Another key convention that we used in our music video was the use of
instruments, this went well with our genre being acoustic as the artist used a
guitar as the music playing the video. In order to make our music video look
realistic we used a guitar that represent the genre of acoustic music as most
songs that are sung acoustic are with a guitar, this is the reason why we added
scenes where you could see the singer with his guitar and sometimes with the
guitar placed on the desk to represent the the format of what our song
represents.
5. Here you can also see the similarities of acoustic singers and the instruments they use
when singing acoustic, as this was used effectively in a pour music video to show that
the song was an acoustic song.
Andrew Goodwin came up with the idea of being six key conventions, one of these
was there is a clear link between the lyrics and the music video. In this case Andrew
Goodwin’s theory would be correct as there is a clear link within the lyrics to the video
as all the scenes represent the words that are being spoken and is clearly evident in
the music video. There should be a clear link between the genre and the music video
as this type of genre is an acoustic genre meaning would be slow and calm as this is
represented in our music video evidently as the actions are slow and calm and are not
fast paced.
