Part 3: Budget, Budget Narrative, and Sustainability Plan (3–5
pages)
The project Budget delineates all expected costs associated with
a project. The Budget Narrative expands upon the line items,
offering further explanation of costs and needs as appropriate.
A Sustainability Plan explains to funders how you will continue
a project after funding has been exhausted.
Part I: Budget
· Use the budget template provided in the Learning Resources.
· Fill in the budget template for your project
Note: Rationale for costs will be provided in the budget
narrative.
Note 2: Budget line items should consider the non-personnel
and personnel resources listed in the methodology section.
Part II: Budget Narrative and Sustainability Plan
· The Budget Narrative expands on the line items of the budget,
providing a reviewer detail and justification for how you arrived
at the projected dollar amounts. For example: If hiring a
consultant for $2,000 is a line item, the narrative might explain
that this is based on 40 hours @ $50/hour.
· The Sustainability Plan explains how your agency plans to
continue operating this program once the funding has run out.
· It also indicates where future funding and other resources
might be obtained.
Note: All relevant cost issues from the budget are addressed in
the sustainability plan.

Budget Narrative and Sustainability Plan (I DON’T SEE
SUSTAINABILITY ADDRESSED)
The project director will be required to work for at least 7 hours
in a single day will translate to 35 hours in five working days of
the week. At a pay rate of $257.14 per hour, this will translate
to a total amount of $9000 before adding the requested amount
of the fringe benefits, given the requested fringe benefits
amount is $4000, the grand total amount requested will be
$13,000. The main reason for spending the least working hours
is due to the fact that most duties will be delegated to junior the
staff.
Additionally, the project director will require one hour each day
attending to contract matters. The project evaluator or will only
need 1 hour everyday to evaluate the project which will
translate to five hours a week. The hourly pay rate for this
employee will be $800. What this means is that if this employee
will work for 5 days in a week, he will end up earning $4,000
before adding the requested amount of the fringe benefits, given
9. the requested fringe benefits amount is $2000. Adding the
benefits amount to the requested amount will translate to
$6,000.
All project coordinators will be required to work for at least 8
hours in a single day which will translate to 56 hours in five
working days of the week. At a pay rate of $82.28 per hour, this
will translate to a total amount of $5000 before adding the
requested amount of the fringe benefits, given the requested
fringe benefits amount is $3000, the grand total amount
requested will be $8,000. The main role of the coordinators will
be to control the schedule of the activities that they will be
managing. What this means is that it will be also the role of the
coordinators to plan.
The project secretary will be required to work for at least 8
hours in a single day which will translate to 56 hours in five
working days of the week. At a pay rate of $53.57 per hour, this
will translate to a total amount of $3000 before adding the
requested amount of the fringe benefits, given the requested
fringe benefits amount is $1000, the grand total amount
requested will be $4000. The rate of paying the secretary will
be the least for the reason that the effort output by this
employee will not need advanced skills and knowledge.
The subtotal of the number of hours that the project employees
will be required to work is 266 hours per week. The subtotal for
the dollar amount of the requested salary is $31,000. What this
figure means is that the average hourly pay will be $116.54.
Given the fact that the fact that the subtotal of the requested
amount for the fringe benefits is $16,000, this will translate to
$47,000 as the grand total amount.
The subtotals hours for the Consultant Costs, Contracts, Staff
Travel, Itemized Equipment, Supplies (itemize by category) and
Other Expenses will be 34 hours per week while the dollar
requested amount for salary will be $2,900. The subtotal for the
amount requested for these items will be 41,400 translating to a
grand total of $4,300. The rate of payment for these items will
be lower than the normal one.

COMMENTS FROM THE TEACHER
Make sure to include specific support for your budget and how
you arrived at numbers, cost, etc. in your final work (if you did
not do so here). Your sustainability plan needs a little more
14. work to support how your grant program will be continued.
When submitting your final project (putting all the part of the
grant together), make sure your good information is supported
by scholarly literature from course readings or Walden Library,
going forward. In other words, demonstrate how the information
you provide relates to the information you are finding in the
course readings and other scholarly information about grants.
Remember, every statement of fact that is not result of your
own published research, should be cited with scholarly or other
appropriate support. See APA Publication Manual or writing
center for correct citation format if you are not sure. Check
your work for grammatical errors and APA errors if you have
been having trouble with these.
Also use your previous papers for other suggestions on
improving scholarship.

Abstract
My project is a fund-raising activity that should solicit for
funds that should go to facilities that support homeless children
and youths. The venture will provide economical support to
15. children who have attained adulthood and have not found
employment. These individuals will receive an allowance for
five months for their survival before they can find employment
to support themselves. It will also support facilities with
children who suffer from chronic ailments such as diabetes and
aids among others by catering for their healthcare expenses
until they reach adulthood and find employment. In the event
that they are unemployment during this time, the project will
still support them for a year after which they will be required to
support themselves.
The project is significant and innovative because it caters to an
area that does not receive much support from society. Many
projects seek to support children and youths until adulthood,
and thereafter help them find employment. However, not many
offer financial support that these individuals really need to kick
start this journey of their lives (National Conference of State
Legislatures, 2017). In addition, many projects offer financial
support for facilities that take in homeless kids and youth, but
do not have comprehensive care programs for chronically ill
persons (National Health Care for the Homeless Council, 2016).
Instead, they are required to budget from their normal support
funds to cater for this matter.
I was inspired to start this project after learning about the plight
of the jobless youths who can no longer be kept in these
facilities that need to take in more kids in need. (HOW DOES
SCHOLARY LITURATURE INFORM?) Also, I visited a
facility in my region that had a high number of children who
suffered from chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and
aids. I was moved because I had never thought that children
could suffer from some of these conditions until that day. After
learning about their dietary and medical needs and the challenge
they undergo to ensure that they sustain these kids, I promised
myself that I would do something to assist in this area. I
therefore believe that this project should receive funding to help
16. with the sustenance of the children and to equip the facilities as
well.
Supporting children with chronic illnesses is a better solution
because it will help the facilities to equip themselves, which
will help to reduce the burden of visiting hospitals thereby
bringing down their expenses. Children with diabetes,
(REQUIRES CITATIONS) for example, can have their blood
sugar levels monitored from their homes. However, this can
only be possible if they can receive support to recruit a nurse
who can carry out some of these procedures. The cost of this
process will be faster and cheaper than having to use
transportation means to visit a clinic, which adds on to the
expense. As for the older children, helping them with survival
allowances will help to encourage them to face life and take the
time to find good employment without worrying about how to
meet their basic needs. Currently, most facilities are helping to
find them employment placements or provide a small allowance
that can only help them survive for a short time.

COMMENTS FROM THE TEACHER
You describe your project nicely, included a title and RFP, and
have also explained why you chose this project to pursue. Your
search engine and evaluation of grant are also included.
However, your evaluation needs to be supported academically.
You have explained why the RFP was selected but you need
more evidenced base research to support your rationale for why
17. this project will be better than current solutions for identified
problem.
Below are suggestions for ensuring that you receive optimal
points for future assignments (if you are not doing these
already):
Make sure you follow APA format for scholarly papers. There is
sample APA paper in doc sharing section of the course.
Scholarly papers should contain title page, reference list and
they should be double spaced.
Make sure your SafeAssign score remains low. Some instructors
submit high scoring papers for academic review.
Beliefs: Avoid using phrases like “I believe” “I feel” or “I
think” etc. This is not scholarly, academic writing.
Make sure you provide in text citations for statements of fact in
your papers. You may be correct in your statements, but
academic sources are necessary for proof.
An example:
Cognitive behavior theory addresses how thinking changes
behavior (Turner, 2008).
Your reference list should also be double spaced.
You should also refer to the APA Publication Manual, 6th
edition for help with APA format. The writing center is also an
excellent resource. Purdue OWL is also resource for APA
writing. This is resource of Purdue University that is shared
publicly. The web address is:

Methodology Plans
The research design of the project will be devised to be
objective. The importance of being objective in this case is that
it will help bring about a clear focus on what is important. This
will prevent the management team from wasting the project time
and financial resources on irrelevant things.(PROVIDE
ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR THIS) A clear focus will translate
to clear decision making. This will make implementation of
such decisions easier. What usually happens is that project
managers find it difficult to implement ambiguous projects.
This is due to lack of understanding (Kelvin, 2015).
The human subjects (HAS TO BE MORE SPACIFIC THEAN
HUMAN SUBJECTS) that will be used as sample will be asked
to be honest and straightforward to minimize error. One way
that will be used to persuade the participants to be honest and
straight forward is assuring them that their identity will be
anonymized. Most participants fear giving honest information
due to the thinking that the information might be used against
them. Based on this kind of thinking, they provide fake
information so that if it is used against them, they will not be
adversely affected. The importance of correct information in
this case is that it will prevent wrong conclusions (Lamarck,
2014).
Study validity will be increased through controlling more
variables while study reliability will be achieved through
several repetitions of the tests. During the control, different
variables will be brought in to help establish whether they are
producing the same result.(EXPLAIN SPECIFICALLY WHAT
YOU MEAN) If it will be determined that the different
variables are bringing the same result, it will be concluded that
the results that were obtained are reliable. After conducting the
20. first test, other tests will follow to help determine whether the
results that were obtained in the first test are valid. What this
means is that if the subsequent results will show congruency,
the initial results will be taken as valid (Kelvin, 2015).
A few of the research assumptions include the fact that the
adolescents that will be helped are those in residential
placements and also the fact that the children that will be helped
are those stepping down to a lower level of care from a
residential setting. What this means is that these are the type of
individuals that the group home will consider first when it
comes to admission. Some of the limitations that are associated
with this research include the reality that the group home will
prevent children from getting parental care and also the truth
that the group home will contribute to separation of many
families (Lamarck, 2014). (PLACEING A CITATION AT THE
ENDOF A PARAGRAPH DOES NOT COVER ALL THE
INFORMATION)
The management of the project will delegate duties and also
provide necessary resources. One of the likely advantages as a
result of delegating duties is that it will make the project
employees to trust the management. In any case the project will
face difficulties, the project employees will trust the
management that it will be able to solve the challenges that they
are facing. To put it in another way, the trust that the project
employees will be having on the management team will act as a
source of hope during difficult times (Kelvin, 2015).
Evaluation Plans
The project success will be measured through assessing it to
establish whether it has achieved all the goals and objectives on
the right time. The main reason why time will be an important
thing to consider is that the goals and objectives could be
achieved past the time that was stipulated. In any case this will
be the case; (SUPPORT INFORMATION LIKE THIS
THROUGH OUT YOUR PAPER. YOU MAYBE RIGHT, BUT
USE SCHOLARLY SORCES FOR CREDIABILITY) it will
21. mean that the management of the project wasted a lot of its time
on irrelevant activities making the project to delay meeting the
deadlines that were set. If it will be determined that some goals
and objectives have not been achieved, the project will be
considered as a fail (Noah, 2017).
Additionally, project success will be measured through
assessing it establish whether it satisfied the stakeholders.
Examples of stakeholders that will be interrogated to determine
whether they are satisfied are the family members or even
guardians of the children and adolescents that will be admitted
to the facility and investors. If the family members or guardians
will say that they are satisfied, it will be concluded that the
project has achieved success. Investors will be asked to give
their opinion on how they have seen their investment. In any
case most investors will say that it was worth investing their
money, it will be concluded that the project has achieved
success (Daniel, 2014).
Data concerning the progress of the project will be collected
through interviews. What will happen in this case is that
interviewees will be interrogated face to face concerning their
experience at the group homes. This will especially apply to
those adolescents that will have satisfied the management that
they are good to be released into the society. The group home
will not release any individual when he or she is still not able to
be independent. This is because the individual will go back to
experience the same suffering that he or she was going through.
The group home will have wasted its time (Noah, 2017).
Other than interviews, the other method that will be used to
obtain data concerning the progress will be questionnaires. In
this method, respondents will be issued with printed questions
and then asked to answer all the questions. Enough space will
be left for the respondent to provide their answers to the
questions that will be asked. Upon completion of the exercise,
the questionnaires will be collected and then the information
provided analyzed. After conducting a thorough analysis,
conclusions will be made. The importance of these conclusions
22. is that they will provide a basis for making future decisions
(Daniel, 2014).

COMMENTS FROM THE TEACHER
Make sure you have included and supported academically how
success will be measured.
Your writing would be more persuasive to funders if you used
course materials and other scholarly literature to support more
of your work.
I am including these resources for APA writing on papers this
week:
Refer to the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition for help with
APA format.
Purdue OWL is also resource for APA writing. This is resource

The Walden writing center is also an excellent resource.
24. Group Homes Grant Project Proposal: Needs Statement, Goals,
and Objectives
The proposed group home project was in response to the
increased number of adolescents in residential placements.
Second, the project was meant to serve children that are
stepping down to a lower level of care from a residential
setting. Additionally, it was also to cover independent living
placements for children that are aging out or foster care or
turning 21 (DO YOU HAVE ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR
THESE CLAIMS). Presented here below are the project goals,
objectives as well as evaluation criteria. It is expected that
these goals and objectives will help provide direction to the
management of the project. This will help the management to
focus on what is important.
Goals
25. · Offer sanctuary for one year
· Develop self-esteem within one year
· Provide job experience within one year
Objectives
· Encourage independence through offering sanctuary for one
year
· Improve the physical and emotional health of residents within
one year by developing self-esteem
· Lessen the burden of taking care of adolescents in residential
placements within one year by providing job experience
Evaluation Criteria
· Establish whether sanctuary offered within one year encourage
independence
· Determine whether self-esteem developed through the
improvement of the physical and emotional health of residents
within one year
· Find out whether job experience provided lessen the burden of
taking care of adolescents in residential placements within one
year
Building the group homes to offer sanctuary will prevent
homeless children and youths from sleeping in the cold. An
objective that is related to this goal is to encourage
independence. What will happen in the group of homes is that
all youths will be taught on how they can have their own their
own homes. The youths, for example, will be taught that the
first step towards owning a home is to get a job. They will be
told that the importance of a job is that it helps an individual to
meet bills. Children will be prepared to mentally for school as
this is the first step towards self-reliance.
Evaluation criteria for the goal of offering a sanctuary will
involve determining the number of youths that have become
independent after being provided accommodation. In any case,
it will be found out from the evaluation exercise that there is a
high number of youths that have become self-reliant after being
accommodated in the group homes, this will be taken to mean
26. that the group homes have achieved their goal. If the number of
youths that have become self-reliant will be low, the conclusion
will be that the project is performing well. New strategies will
then be developed to increase the number.
Accommodating homeless children and youths will help this
group develop self-esteem within one year. Most homeless
children and youths view themselves to be inferior. They view
fellow children and youths with homes to be more superior than
the. This as we know it is not correct. The only way to fight this
kind of perception will be to assemble both the children and the
youths and then tell them that all human beings have the same
value no matter the challenges facing them. Religious leaders
and motivational speakers will be invited into the group homes
to provide inspiration.
Assessment criteria for the goal of developing self-esteem will
involve determining the number of children and youths that
have developed the confidence to face other people after being
accommodated in the group homes. One of the ways that this
will be done is organizing events where each child and youth
will be asked to present a piece of literature such as a poem or
comedy. During the presentation, judges in the event will assess
the children and youths to determine their level of self-
confidence. If the children and youths will be found to have
high self-confidence, it will be concluded that the project has
achieved its goal.
Group homes will provide job experience to homeless youths
and children within one year. The evaluation criteria for the
goal of offering job experience will be determining the number
of youths that have gotten a job after gaining work experience
in the sanctuary. An objective that is attached to this goal is to
lessen the burden of the guardians that are taking care of the
homeless children and youths. There are people who prefer to
accommodate children and youths for a short while when they
face unavoidable life events such as child abuse. These good
Samaritans cannot provide them all needs due to high cost.
To conclude, the proposed group homes will help provide
27. accommodation for the high number of adolescents in
residential placements. The second importance of the group
homes is that it will serve children that are stepping down to a
lower level of care from a residential setting. In addition, it
was also to cover independent living placements for children
that are aging out or foster care or turning 21. Building the
group homes to offer sanctuary will prevent homeless children
and youths from sleeping in the cold while accommodating
homeless children and youths will help this group develop self-
esteem. The other important thing is that the group homes will
provide job experience.
