Home game and radio announcements <ul><li>The observed national seat belt usage rate rose to an all-time high of 84% in 2009.  P-DAT, your Pirates Displaying Awareness Team wants everyone to help us continue the trend.  Buckle Up.  Every Trip.  Every Time. </li></ul><ul><li>80 % of traffic fatalities occur within 25 miles of the home and under 40 miles per hour.  P-DAT reminds everyone to Buckle Up.  Every Trip.  Every Time.    </li></ul><ul><li>Since 2002 alcohol related traffic fatalities have declined in Illinois.  P-DAT is working to continue the trend.  Don’t Drink and Drive. </li></ul><ul><li>It’s better to stay alive than to stay connected.  Keep your mind on the road when you’re behind the wheel.  P-DAT asks everyone not to text while driving. </li></ul><ul><li>P-DAT says even little things can be big distractions when you drive.  Keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.  Don’t drive distracted. </li></ul><ul><li>Drivers who use hand-held devices are four times as likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves.  P-DAT reminds everyone Don’t drive distracted.  </li></ul><ul><li>Texting takes your eyes off the road for an average of five seconds at a time.  At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of a football field - completely blind.   P-DAT reminds everyone Don’t drive distracted.  </li></ul><ul><li>Texting while Driving is responsible for 330,000 distracted driving injuries every year.  P-DAT reminds everyone Don’t drive distracted.  </li></ul>18,000 listeners P-DAT’s on-air

  13. 13. 40 T-Shirts Back Front T-shirt launcher! Shot shirts out to the crowd at a basketball game. Over 500 people attended the game
  14. 14. AllState Parent Teen Pledge AllState Homeroom Pledge AllState 287 contracts returned with 983 signatures! Returned contracts were displayed on a board at school. 28 home room pledges containing 394 signatures!

  16. 16. Ford Driving Skills For Life 1,324 total certificates! 1,120 high school students 100 middle school students 63 high school teachers 30 bus drivers 11 middle school teachers

Ford Driving Skills For Life <ul><li>P-DAT presented a program to all the P.E., Health, and Sports Medicine classes in an attempt to reach the most students as possible. 1,120 students completed the program. </li></ul><ul><li>Program consisted of a presentation by Ofc. Cheatham, viewing of the AT&T Don’t text while driving documentary video, and the DSFL program. All the students who went through the program left with an AllState parent teen pledge and were encouraged to return it. 287 contracts were returned with 983 signatures! </li></ul>

  23. 24. Billboard in town (January) Billboard located along Illinois Route 23. A 4 lane state highway!! 24,400 cars drive by per day!
  24. 25. Billboard in town (February) P-DAT presents art student who wins design competition with $25 gift card to Wal-Mart. Congrats!!
  25. 26. 300+ posters given to local businesses to display. They contained various safe driving messages. 100 table tents and 500 Placemats were donated to local restaurants .
  26. 27. 6 books 500 balloons 2000 stickers 250 bookmarks Given to children at grade schools when we read to them Reaching the Youth Donated to 4 local elementary schools, YMCA, and Library Placed on posters, cookie bags, cups, pop corn boxes, etc. <ul><li>100 students at the YMCA </li></ul><ul><li>9,000 registered people at library </li></ul>

  29. 30. 2500 Tuxedos inserts Placed in every tuxedo rental at local warehouse that services nearly 5,000 retailers nation wide. They will be inserted in tuxes that go out for dances like Prom and weddings locally. 2000 window clings Custom ink stamp to place name on various items

  35. 36. Drivers Ed Class Presentation by Trooper Graham, Officer Cheatham and IDOT Rep Melanie Wingo. Presentation included “AAA” simulator, informational handouts, and Q&A session on topics such as DUI, speeding, safety belts, and distracted driving. Presentation reached all 7 hours of Drivers Ed and nearly 85 students!! Provided teachers with new safe driving posters for the classroom!
