It is a warm summer evening at Grady Hospital. It is my first day as an emergency room
volunteer. I'm nervous and eager, hoping to see something exciting. However, it is surreally quiet.

Born two months premature at just under five pounds, I like to believe that starting small can lead
to big things. My parents were informed that it was unlikely that I would attend public school or

My second and third visits took place on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening was similar to
