Pharmaceutical Bulk Drug
Excipients Pharmaceutical Excipients are
crucial for drug delivery within the
body. An excipient has no medicinal
properties. Its standard purpose is to
facilitate physiological absorption of
the drug.
Excipients might aid in Moisture
protection, lubricity, flow ability,
disintegration, taste masking,
coating agents and may confer some
form of antimicrobial function.
Directory of Pharmaceutical
Excipients
Database of Pharmaceutical Excipients contains hundreds of excipients and is difficult to
list out ; Some sample list is given here

Nature of the project
An excipient is a substance formulated alongside the
active ingredient of a medication, included for the
purpose of long-term stabilization, bulking up solid
formulations that contain potent active ingredients in
small amounts or to confer a therapeutic
enhancement on the active ingredient in the final
dosage form, such as facilitating drug absorption,
reducing viscosity, or enhancing solubility. Excipients
can also be useful in the manufacturing process, to aid
in the handling of the active substance concerns such
as by facilitating powder flowability or non-stick
properties, coating properties for moisture protection,
Odor and taste masking and slow release of the drug,
in addition to aiding in vitro stability such as
prevention of denaturation or aggregation over the
expected shelf life
The global
pharmaceutical
excipients market is
projected to reach
~US$ 10.7 Bn by the
end of 2027
