ELA 1
My Title is Centered and Bold, and Possibly Larger Than 14 Point
This is how to correctly format a final paper to turn in. Notice that my
name, the date, and my ELA number are all at the top and right-justified. I
use Command+R for the shortcut. Then, two spaces below that information, I
center the title of my paper. That shortcut is Command+E. Two more spaces
below the title, I begin the body of my paper on the left, using Command+L. I
should ALWAYS have a space above and below my title, but no more than
one. (My teachers can TOTALLY see when I try to get away with extra
spacing.)
Each time I start a new paragraph, I use the tab key, NOT the space
bar. I also don’t need an extra space between paragraphs, since anyone
can see the neat indent left by the tab key.
My text is no bigger than 14 point font, with the exception of the title,
which can be larger if it still fits on one line. If my title is really long, I will speak
to the teacher to find out what I should do. Everything on the page is black
and easy to read. I will not use any cursive or fancy fonts.
No matter what, this is how every paper should look when it is turned in
for a grade. Typing up homework and rough drafts are different, but if my
teacher has to read 121 papers, she should get the final say in how they all
look when they are turned in.
I will NOT write “The End!” (That’s for second graders)
