2. Wikipedia
Wikipedia is an encyclopedic project of
free content on the internet developed
by volunteers with wiki software. Articles
on Wikipedia can be changed by
anyone with Internet access.
3. The project began on January 15, 2001 in
support of Nupedia, the encyclopedia
written by experts. Wikipedia has more
than 26 million articles in 275 languages,
of which more than 4 million articles in the
English language version, written and
more than 180,000 articles in the Serbian
language.
4. Wikipedias has written articles by
volunteers around the world, and the
vast majority of articles can be editted by
anyone who has Internet access. As the
popularity of Wikipedia has grown
steadily since its inception, it is now
among the 10 most visited sites.
5. Wikipedia has editions in 285 different
languages, of which 274 active editions,
that is daily improving. Of this number, 42
have over 100,000 articles (data as of
February 2013). The German edition of
Wikipedia, which has about 1.5 million
articles, is distributed on video discs, and
many other publications multiplied to
other sites.
