- 4. REVISING Think of the acronym ROAM when revising: • Remove (irrelevant content) • Organize (paragraphing and flow) • Add (evidence, explanations, people, etc.) • Move (paragraphs and sentences)
- 5. EDITING •Think of editing as looking at your essay through a microscope. •You’re looking at the small, sentence- level details.
- 6. EDITING Think of the acronym MUGS when editing: • Mechanics (punctuation, spelling, citations, etc.) • Usage (word choice, pronoun reference, verb tense, etc.) • Grammar (fragments, run-ons, etc.) • Style (concrete nouns, active verbs, short sentences, short words)
