1. The English language
The chapter, the English language guides us to know in depth about the origins
of the English language. It is fascinating how the English language has been
constructed since early communication between different cultures started many
years ago. The text tell us that the English language raised up by borrowing and
joining words from different neighbors .this point is important because we can
noticed that how important were the early interaction between those culture.
Accordingly to this some languages are a mixed of different dialect spoken by
people, this is the case of English. It emerged and it has changed along these
years, until be what we know now as English language, but in nowadays there
are other processes that have helped the expansion of the English language.
For example, English speakers continue to invent new words and old words
also joined many other words come from the first letters of names or
appliances. Then we can say that English is in constant process
Another point that we have to consider is the role that English has in nowadays;
it is important to focus our attention in the study of origin and history of any
language in which we are interested in, in our case in English and because of it
is becoming more and more important at that time. As English become the chief
means of communication between nations, it’s crucial to learn about the
composition of the language in order to achieve the accuracy, the efficient, and
also its relevant learning the structure and the use of it. Additionally while we
were reading we notice that Early English and modern English have differences
in their structure, sounds, words etc.
Through the lexical analysis of the English, we would realize and understand
the people and the society. It helps us to notice the identity that every nation
has, because the language provide identity.
During the passing of time, the English has risen to become one of the
language with the largest number of speakers, is under Chinese only. From my
point of view this amount of speakers increases over time. There are two simple
reasons. First is an easy language to learn in comparison to others. Second is
the business language.
After reading the text I can realize that there are many words in English that
experts cannot explain it meaning. They do not know where the words come
from. English speakers just use the words, the same happen in our own
language. We use many words in every day conversation and we don’t know
the origin of some of them
To sum up, the process of borrowing and adding of foreign words to English
was one of the ways of expanding the language. For example, we know that the
names of three days of the week were given by people from the north of Europe
honored three gods with a special day a week.
