Data mining does not stand alone in businesses. It is unusually part.docxtaminklsperaw
Data mining does not stand alone in businesses. It is unusually part of a larger business intelligence initiative. The goal is to uncover hidden patterns. Privacy concerns arise due to data mining techniques and goals. An example is when Google was facing a lawsuit in 2014 for scanning emails sent by students using Apps for Education. The claim was that Google's data mining practices violated the principles for students' educational privacy. This is just one example of many that shows the privacy implications of data mining.
What are some other examples of data-mining privacy violations? What are the possible implications of these violations?

“
Messy Desk Means Something’s Getting Done”, that although we often admire neat-freaks, it's often the disorganized who are the most productive. He says, “About two out three people in the U.S. feel shame or guilt over their messiness, and almost all of us think poorly of messy people and highly of the neat and organized.

He continues Sure, most of us are messy, but only moderately so, and we do just fine with it

other than feeling bad about it or getting grief from others. Once people start thinking about it, they realize there's often a good side to their messiness. Moderately messy people don't spend two or more hours a day straightening up, the way some of their neatnik friends and colleagues do. Their houses and cubicles feel friendlier, lived in and personalized. They've got the stuff they like at hand. They make serendipitous discoveries when they excavate through their piles. And, surprisingly, they usually know where everything is. Messy people let things spread out and stack up in ways that naturally suit the way they work and think. There's evidence that messy people are more improvisational, maintain more impressive workloads than their neatnik colleagues and reap other benefits from their relaxed sense of organization. *

In a well-organized essay, discuss Freeman's thesis that messy people are more productive than neat people. Do you agree or disagree? In answering this question, you may want to describe your own organizational habits, and those of people you know. Specific details will probably make your essay more interesting and your argument more persuasive.

Data Analysis—Small Group DiscussionAs a nurse engaged in evidence.docxtaminklsperaw
Data Analysis—Small Group Discussion
As a nurse engaged in evidence-based practice, it is important to recognize how statistics and other data analysis tools are used to generate and assess evidence. Most nurses need only a foundational understanding of statistical tools and terminology to understand the majority of research studies. As a nurse, you should be able to recognize the most commonly used statistical tests, how and when they are used, and how significance is determined.
In this Discussion, you examine different types of statistics and statistical tests, when and why these particular tests would be selected for use, and, most importantly, what the results indicate.
To prepare:
·
Review the information in your assigned chapter (Chapter 23, “Qualitative Data Analysis”)
Polit, D. F., & Beck, C. T. (2012).
Nursing research: Generating and assessing evidence for nursing practice
(Laureate Education, Inc., custom ed.).
Philadelphia, PA: Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
·
Develop a 1-page study sheet that includes the following:
o
The key concepts of the chapter: Focus on the basic concepts that are important for nurses to understand as they review research studies.
Discuss why it is important for nurses to understand the basics of these statistical methods.
o
A description of the statistical methods covered in the chapter, what they measure, and under what circumstances they are used. Identify examples of how the statistical methods have been used in research studies.
o
An explanation of the key statistical tests and how they measure significance (if applicable).

Chapter 23, “Qualitative Data Analysis”
The focus of this chapter is qualitative data analysis, which is more difficult in some ways than quantitative analysis, because there are not specific tests that can be used. Instead, much of the analysis is based on the researcher’s ability to identify patterns of behavior or similarities in events. Suggestions are provided for analysis of each of the major types of qualitative studies and how to document findings.

Currently, most developed countries use a variation of Keynes's policies, allowing a large degree of private business while maintaining strict regulation of certain aspects of the economy through the government. Today's relationship between government and business is thus neither laissez faire nor socialist, but rather a combination of both, essentially what is called a "mixed economy."

Current Issue Critical ThinkingRead the following excerp.docxtaminklsperaw
Current Issue Critical Thinking
Read the following excerpt from "Understanding Digital Kids (DKs): Technology & Learning in the New Digital Landscape," an article regarding learning today:
Recently, there were two recent cover stories in Time Magazine: Their conclusion was that children today are different. In fact, based on what we now know from the neurosciences and psychological sciences, what we’re now beginning to understand is that children today are FUNDAMENTALLY different than we are in the way they think, in the way they access, absorb, interpret, process and use information, and in the way they view, interact, and communicate in the modern world because of their experiences with digital technologies. If this is the case, it holds profound implications for all of us personally and professionally (Jukes, 2008, p. 14).
Reflect on this selection and respond to the following questions:
•What are your thoughts on this statement?
•Do you feel today’s learner has a different way of learning than in the past?
Defend your position.
•In your future role, how will you use this information?
•What implications does this have for your future role?
Language Acquisition Resource
Many resources are available to help us continue to develop our knowledge of language acquisition.
As professionals, you will need to identify and evaluate the resources available to you.
Please spend some time evaluating professional resources linked to language acquisition.
For this discussion, choose a specific language acquisition topic to explore further.
Several examples include our previous topics of bilingualism, communication disorders, language developmental stages, brain research, supportive language acquisition practices, family support of language acquisition, etc.
Write the topic you explored in the subject line of your discussion post.
Then, provide three sources that can be used to learn more about this topic.
Your sources may include a journal article, webpage, video, research, podcast, etc.
Include links where appropriate, and be sure to cite all sources in APA format.
Your 300-350 word post should include the following for each selected source:
•Summary of the resource
•How it supports language acquisition in children
•How you will use it specifically for your future professional role
•An APA-formatted reference of the source so your peers can access and review it

Culture is learned. It is passed down through groups of people. This.docxtaminklsperaw
Culture is learned. It is passed down through groups of people. This assignment is designed to help you reflect on and identify your cultural background.
Because culture must come from somewhere, I would like you to think about the following questions by reflecting on the values and customs you were
taught
as you were growing up, either by your family of origin or cultural group. If you feel that you had other important cultural influences, please include those in your responses.
In addition to responding to the questions, you may add any other information that you feel is important to you and your cultural identity. Remember that this paper should be useful to
you
in understanding your cultural background, and so
you
must decide what is important to include and what you feel comfortable sharing.
I will grade this assignment on thorough answers and your demonstrated understanding of what culture is, where it comes from, and how your values and traditions are unique.
Please answer the following questions in paragraph form. You should have at least 1 paragraph for each numbered section. You do not have to answer each individual question, though the questions are designed to give insight into cultural practices representative of each area. Include specific examples that show both the
how
and
why
of your practices.
1. Family
Who is in your family? Who lives together?
Is there a hierarchy of authority in your family and how does it work?
What are some of the strong values of your family?
What are the roles of the children in the family?
What are the values regarding discipline and how important is it? How is it enforced?
Who is responsible if someone misbehaves?
Who can disagree with whom in the family?
What is the importance of the individual family member vs. the family as a whole?

Culturally Relevant Inspiration
A number of important resources supporting the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of culturally relevant instructional experiences are available online. Throughout this course, you have had many opportunities to view a number of such resources. This assignment encourages you to reflect on the key concepts presented in the course through the creation of a web-based presentation or website that you can use in the future to support your teaching efforts. The goal is to showcase several model schools or programs representing what you have learned thus far regarding culturally relevant practices, creativity, and innovation. A plethora of options exists as you search for model schools or programs. While the K-12 public school setting may be on the forefront of your mind, remember there are a variety of learning environments available, such as charter and private schools, technical programs, post-secondary education and training programs, schools and programs pertaining to the military, Sunday schools and other religious schools, and more. Therefore, expand your search efforts to gain a well-rounded perspective to share in your website or web-based presentation. The resource you create can also be shared with colleagues (as well as the public in general) to advocate for implementing a more culturally-relevant instructional approach to professional practice.
A listing of good free tools you might choose to use as you develop a website is presented in the Instructor Guidance. Each tool includes its own collection of help files and tutorials to support your creative endeavor. Similarly, there are numerous web-based tools that could be utilized to create an interactive presentation, such as animoto, knovio, prezi, or present.me. Use your creativity and try something new!

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
