Bear Grylls was born
Edward Michael Grylls
on 7th June 1974.
Bear Grylls got the name ‘Bear’ from his sister when she was
only two years old because she said he was like a ‘teddy bear’
as a baby.
3. Army
• Bear left school and joined the Territorial
Army and also was in the SAS for a bit
• His first TV job was joining the Foreign Legion
to show how hard it is
4. Achievements
• Bear Grylls has climbed Mount Everest
• In 2000 Grylls led the first team to go all the way
round the UK on a personal watercraft
• Bear took part in the first unassisted crossing of
the north Atlantic Arctic Ocean
• Bear Grylls created a world record for the highest
open-air formal dinner party
• He also got Guinness world record in 2008 for the
longest continuous indoor freefall
5. TV
• Bear Grylls has his own show Man vs Wild.
• When he was first asked to do the show he
turned it down, but eventually he agreed.
• Bear Grylls has recently filmed the new safety
video for Air New Zealand
