Reflection On Pianos 4 Hands At Neptune Theatre
I went to go see 2 Pianos 4 Hands at Neptune Theatre on March 6th; I have attached the ticket and the program. I was impressed overall with the
vocal performance but there were a few things that I noticed. The breath support was diaphragmatic for the most of the play but I did notice some
upper chest breathing in Richard Todd Adams, who played Ted. I only noticed this when he was downstage and delivering his speech. Bryce Kulak,
who played Richard, seemed to be breathing diaphragmatically the whole time. The sound quality was all over the place with both actors but it was
clearly a character choice. When the actors were switching between different characters they added glottal attacks to show the harshness of their
character. When there was a particularly strict teacher, extra glottal attacks were added and when they were playing children their voice seemed to
have more of a soft quality. One of the things I really admired about this show was how the actors used every part of their voice. They used
techniques that would normally be considered bad habits or could be potentially harmful for the voice but being at the end of the run I could not detect
any strain on their voices, which means that they are supporting all the work, they are doing. When Mr. Kulak was playing a woman his pitch went up,
and then it went back too his center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were a lot of musical terms but I don't think this limited their audience to just music savvy people. It switched between dialogue and monologue
but for the most part the story was communicated through dialogue. There were virtually no directed addresses to the audience. Asides were
communicated merely with looks. There were tonnes of accents in this show as stated above. Some examples of them were Canadian, British, Italian
and French. In summation this was a wonderful play performed superbly. The two clearly knew what they were doing in terms of voice and

Hallmark Reflection
Yet again, my attention to the supporting cast members of any production combined with Hallmark's willingness to feature lesser known actors has
produced an interview that viewers may not find anywhere else. And frankly, that's the way I like it. A little while ago, Jason McKinnon, whom
Hearties saw featured as Mr. Higgins in season four of When Calls the Heart, agreed to chat with me about his unique experience and outlook on the
film and television industry in today's society, and our conversation led us to some worthwhile discussion that I believe could benefit both viewers and
actors alike.
RH: So glad we are able to chat today!
JM: Me too.
You have done quite a few things recently. I knew you were on When Calls the Heart, but of course, IMDB doesn't list your role.
Yeah, IMDB is not always up to date. And sometimes I have to send in my own stuff as well so they will update it.
Thankfully you posted a video of the role you played so we could be reminded of your character. I always have to go hunting for the supporting cast
members. But I notice you have done a good amount with Hallmark.
It's just kind of worked out that way. It's been interesting.
How did you decide to become an actor?
That was a no–brainer since seventh grade when I had a teacher who said I should do this. I was like, "What? Be in your class?" She was like, "No, be
an actor." I had a lot of support. My teacher's name was Lynn Crymble., and she was the genesis of making sure I would continue

Whats Eating Gilbert Grape Research Paper
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
In the film What's Eating Gilbert Grape, the main character Gilbert takes on the "Father Role" to support his family economically and financially. The
fact Gilbert is the man of the house causes him to repress his anger. His sorrow begins to strengthen his rage in a very unhealthy manner. The
melancholy that leads to Gilberts weakening has its roots in his family which is what begins to eat Gilbert alive. All his family members play important
individual roles in finding out what's eating Gilbert Grape.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a beautifully shot movie of tenderness, caring and self–awareness that is set amongst the fictional working class one

The film was nominated for the prestigious Grand Prix of the Belgian Syndicate of Cinema Critics.
In the film, Amy, being the eldest sibling and daughter of the Grapes, plays the "Mother Role" having to take care of the household. "My older
sister Amy is more like a mother", explains Gilbert, making him portray the "Father Figure"; as he states, "My father built this house, and it's my job
to do the repairs." Amy being the voice of reason tries her best to keep the family together, which causes Gilbert to repress his feelings the more Amy
tells him "he has to do better". In the scene when Gilbert leaves Arnie in the bathtub overnight, causes a fright to the family; which is when Amy
begins to tell him, "You gotta do better" because without his help the family will fall apart quickly. This builds up Gilbert's emotion because he knows
just as Amy he has an important role in the family to fill in.
Ellen, the youngest of the siblings, concentrates on appearances, specifically hers. While the family is eating dinner, Ellen begins to chew with her
mouth open which disgusts Gilbert. He tells Ellen to close her mouth when she is eating, to which Ellen responds sarcastically, "Oh. Okay Dad. Sure
thing, Dad." This aggravates Gilbert because for him it is an insult to be compared to such a man. Gilbert's job is to support his family financially yet
Ellen's character seems to make Gilbert feel guilty and responsible for all the bad things

How Music Has Impacted My Life Essay
Music has always played an important role in my life. Even as a student of film, I tell stories inspired by song lyrics, for the words, rhythms, and
instruments of rock music have impacted my life to an unimaginable extent. Whenever I edit video, the underscore is vital. When I write a script,
there 's a poetic sound, a lyricism to the dialogue. I would not even be here in Los Angeles if not for artists such as Courtney Love and Jared Leto,
who cross boundaries between music and film. In particular, Jared Leto 's career is something to behold. An award–winning actor, director, musician,
and pure artist, Leto epitomizes my creative values: never settle, and don 't be afraid to be dedicated to whatever you want to do.
Origins
Born in Louisiana, Jared Leto attended University of the Arts in Philadelphia to pursue painting. However, he eventually dropped out and studied
acting in NYC. He then transitioned to California to begin his career music ("Jared Leto: Biography"). His big break in acting came from the short
lived, yet critically lauded TV series, My So Called Life (1994). Four years later, he became lead singer for his rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars. As the
years progressed, Leto found success in both artistic avenues.
Leto's last film of the 2000s, Mr. Nobody (2009), was met with critical accolades, but marked the beginning of his hiatus from film. In 2013, Leto
returned in full swing with his supporting role in Dallas Buyer's Club (2013). A commercial and critical

The Function of Dual Roles in Tony Kushner’s Angels in...
In Tony Kushner's Angels in America, the interconnection of people and events, that might ordinarily be viewed as disconnected or unrelated, is
implicitly presented in the characters section. Dual roles are implemented by a playwright that has one actor portraying the roles of two or more
characters, with or without thematic intentions. The use of "dual roles" in several scenes of this play can be viewed as a demonstration of Kushner's
effort in maintaining the interconnectedness between characters, communities (i.e. queer, heterosexual, AIDS and political communities) and events to
which they are relative. This essay will argue that Kushner's use of dual role's effectively interconnects characters, events and their communities that

Furthermore, Antarctica's expression and connection to Roy's character and communities is supported within the dialogue. In response to hearing the
description of destruction and loss of life on the radio, Antarctica responds by saying, "Let them. Uncountable multitudes. Horrible. It is by their
own hands. I I I will rejoice to see it " (Kushner 261). Explicitly Antarctica's responses implicitly parallels Roy's callous nature, perhaps as a specific
reference to Roy's outlook on the AIDS community in which he is a part of but denies. This response is significant because it preserves the
audiences prior knowledge of Roy and what he stands even contextually as Antarctica. As a result, the use of dual role to interrelate Roy's denial and
lack of morality is able to interconnect and expose Roy's stance in relation to AIDS even as the unrelated character of Antarctica. The dual role of "The
Angel of Oceania" and Belize is another example of Kushner's ability to sustain interconnectedness between characters and events. Principally, Oceania
seems to be a caring and warm character much like Belize, but Belize is also comprised of many interesting communities such as being homosexual and
being a black, male nurse. This collection of communities figuratively represents the separate islands that compose Oceania suggesting an implicit
correlation in character choice.

Analysis Of Radnor By Judy Blume
Radnor, Pennsylvania is the kind of town that novels are made from. In fact, author Judy Blume set a novel here. It's the best place to work and

Professional Athletes: Are They Getting Paid Too Much?
Entertainment is Good, but Over Priced? The goal for this paper is to examine if professional athletes, actors, and musicians are getting paid too

Kate Kid 1984 Movie Analysis
You're the Best, Around
"Wax on, Wax off" (Karate Kid 1984). "Put the Jacket on, now take it off, hang it up." (Karate Kid 2010). Both of these movies introduce an underdog,
new to his environment. They are harassed by bullies and taken under the wing by the well–mannered, black belted handyman. Both the original Karate
Kid, released in 1984, and the 2010 remake made an impact on our culture, and they both taught us lessons about judgement, bullying, and stereotyping.
In the 1984 film, our young hero, Daniel LaRusso, moves to New Jersey with his mother. Likewise, our younger hero from the 2010 remake, Dre
Parker, moves from Detroit to Beijing for his mother's work. Both attend school and seek acceptance from their peers. Additionally, both boys live near
their respective handyman, Mr. Miyagi in the original, and Mr. Han in the remake. These men act as the only father figures throughout the films. These
unique settings created a mysterious surrounding for our underdog heroes which presenting new challenges and endeavors..
The underdog story is told differently in both films. Daniel LaRusso is a charming, relatable kid who struggles to fit in. Dre Parker manages to keep
his wits about him even as he crosses into an entirely different country and culture. Each of the misunderstood boys had a mentor who guided them
through the course of each movie. Essentially, both Mr. Miyagi and Mr. Han play the same role, but where they differ is in backstory and attitude. Mr.
Miyagi is a

Spotlight Essay
Spotlight, directed by Thomas McCarthy, has been nominated for three Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay,
and Best Film Editing. This film should win for Best Picture because of its faultless execution, powerful ensemble, and subject matter. Spotlight is one
of the best journalism movies ever made. The film concentrates not only on the big picture of how the journalists discover new information but the
little details as well, such as what offices look like in the time period and how the staff reacts to a new boss. Director Thomas McCarthy celebrates
journalists and recognizes that what they do is important and necessary, but he doesn't idealize them. McCarthy doesn't need to go into graphic detail
about the sexual abuse because all he has to do is lightly tap into it for the audience to be affected. McCarthy is conservative by handling the subject
very carefully and slowly drawing the audience into the investigation, making the film very well executed. The ... Show more content on

Supporting Actor Never The Star. Napoleon Bonaparte Once
Supporting Actor Never The Star Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "Women are nothing but machines for producing children" (Goad 2013). In society,
especially ancient Greek time, women are seen as the lesser counterpart to men. They are subject made only to be arm candy to men, and to keep the
home tidy while caring for the family. Women are supposed to be submissive to men knowing they must obey every command, but men are allowed
to roam free doing whatever they please. Times have changed since the ancient days, yet still, like the Greeks, men believe women should have no
rights at all. However, some women have found their voice, no longer hiding in fear, or standing in their man's shadows. Women are being bold, yet that

Antigone was set on burying her brother, but for Ismene, even though Polyneices was her blood brother, she still could not step outside her womanly
role proclaiming, "Since force constrains me,/ that I shall yield in this to the authorities./ Extravagant action is not sensible" (76–78). Her fear of men
kept her from giving her own family member a burial and leaving her only living relative out to dry as she ventured to what would be the start to her
own death. When trying her best to tell her sister not to go she mentions, "I will not put dishonor on them, but/ to act in defiance of the citizenry,/ my
nature does not give me means for that" (90–93). Not only did she not want to make strife with men, but also go against her city. Greeks were very
much loyal to their individual city states, and everyone worked together to preserve their individual rights within that city state. Ismene knew that
Antigone and her were no longer the royal family, and to keep both them safe they must obey the city. Their own brother went against the city, and
he, now, laid naked in the sun for the birds to pick at. Ismene, finally, comes to her senses no longer acting in silence, but questioning Creon, "Will

Heat Movie Analysis
"Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." Robert De
Niro's famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann's Heat. Mann is able to have high–octane action one would
expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even
though Michael Mann argues that it doesn't belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heat memorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of
ways: through types of shots such as close–ups and zoom–ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and
use of shadows among others. The utilization of close–ups and zoom–ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear
on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we're able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under
their eyes. Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are introduced to Al Pacino during a sex scene, that's
about as intimate as the character–to–audience relationship can get. The intimacy is at an all–time high during the coffee shop scene in which the
previously mentioned quote is taken from. Roger Ebert (1995) stated, "The scene concentrates on the truth of 'Heat', which is that these cops and
robbers need

Green Mile Argumentative Essay
"Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent."–Marlon Brando. This is very true when it comes to supporting actors. Many
times the supporting actors will get payed less than the lead actors, of course there are exceptions to that case, but for the most part that is true. The
funny thing is, you can't tell the story without other characters. Just think about the movie Cinderella, she wouldn't have been able to go to the ball or
meet the prince unless her fairy godmother a.k.a supporting actor, came to her rescue. She wouldn't have ever meet anyone in the first place unless
there was a prince a.k.a another supporting actor. Some of the most iconic films wouldn't be that way if it wasn't for the supporting actors helping ...

Analysis Of The Epidemic Of Invisibility
"Epidemic of Invisibility"
For numerous years film studios have been casting and funding movies from all different genres and backgrounds. Most films have a reoccurring and
common theme to them. There is a protagonist who faces adversity in a particular setting and must take on various trials and tribulations to achieve
his or her goal. For long as I have been watching movies (I'm 19) the main character has had two universal traits in majority of the films I have seen,
which are white and male. If you take a moment and attempt to recall all the different movies that you have seen, how many of those main characters
are white and or male? The reoccurring notion of a Caucasian male protagonist probably seems extensively more common than you thought. ... Show

During the study, researchers analyzed more than 21,00 characters and off–screen workers in over 400 films and television shows aired from
September 2014 to August 2015 (Deggans). The study, titled "Inclusion or Invisibility? Comprehensive Annenberg Report on Diversity in
Entertainment" focuses on the aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual status. The wide range of results they found was shocking, but somewhat
expected in the same instance. Women represent around half of the U.S. population, yet only one–third (33.5%) of roles with dialogue given were
female (Deggans). Coincidently, females only made up 3.4 percent of the film directors. Stacy L. Smith, an author of the study, is the founding
director of the Media, Diversity and Social Change Initiative at USC communication and journalism school. In her post study comments Smith
concluded, "We're seeing that there's not just a diversity problem in Hollywood; there's actually an inclusion crisis," (Deggans). The problem is not
simply one of inclusion, but the skewed idea of how women should be portrayed on screen. The USC study found women are four times more likely
to be depicted in lingerie or other form of sexy clothing and three times more probable to be shown in the nude. The film industry is adding to the
heinous gender roles society follows by depicting women as objects of lust and sexual

A Room of One's Own Perception
In his novel The Hours, author Michael Cunningham describes his characters in a very unique way. Cunningham portrays his characters through the
descriptions of rooms in which each person spends most of their day. The rooms become a window to each character's personality and personal
situation. Through reflection of her own room, Clarissa Vaughn comes to realize that she is completely unhappy with the way her life has turned out.
Similarly, Cunningham uses Laura Brown's time in her kitchen and her two hour stay in a hotel room to assess her mental standing. These spaces are
not only observed by their inhabitants, but also by those close to them. Clarissa's room is observed by her old friend Louis and the reader is given
much of Richard's room descriptions through the assessment of Clarissa. These observations by others help the reader gain a sense of not only how the
certain character considers their own self, but also how they are perceived by others. Each individual life intersects with another character, which link
together characters that seemingly would otherwise not be connected. These observations regarding each room come to not only embody the mental
state of each character, but also represent a form of imprisonment for each.
Richard is depicted through his apartment room as sullen and wasting away from his disease and depression. Special emphasis is given in particular to
the decrepit, "ostentatiously broken and worthless" chair (59). The chair comes to symbolize

Diversity In Hollywood
Diversity and representation has been in an increased demand over the past few years. Even children's TV producers and creators are taking notice
by including LGBT and all sorts of ethnic characters in their shows. However, it seems that Hollywood has yet to take note. For the second year in
a row, the Oscars have failed to bring diversity to this year's nominations. Many expressed their frustration online, taking to Twitter using the hashtag,
#OscarsSoWhite, and saying they will be boycotting the event. Jada Pinkett Smith announced on social media that she will not be attending the
Oscars because of their lack of diversity. Later, Will Smith, who starred in Concussion, says he stands by his wife. The Smith family is not the only
group of celebrities to be boycotting the Oscars. Celebrities such as Spike Lee, Tyrese Gibson, as well as Snoop Dogg all announced they will neither

Mise-En Scene In E. T
Mise en Scene is the environment of the scene. One of the most famous shot is when Elliot has E.T in the basket of his bike in front of the moon.
The director made this an extra long shot because it is important to see the background. The viewer needs to see the moon in the sky to show that the
bike is actually in the air flying. It shows that Elliott will do anything to help E.T return back to his home planet. Most of the film was shot from a
child's eye–level to help show the bond between Elliott and E.T. Spielberg always used low–angles shots when showing the spaceship and the men in

by his neighbor's dog and gave a believable tearful performance he made Steven Spielberg cry. Henry did a great job in the film E.T for how young he
was. In fact he was nominated for several awards including BAFTA Film Award for Newcomer to Leading Film Roles, Golden Globe Award for New
Star of the Year, and Saturn Award for BestActor. He was presented an award Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Leading Young Actor
in a Feature Film by the Young Artist Association. That award is giving to actors younger than twenty one, who played a leading role. Watching
Henry as Elliot the audience could feel the bond that he had with E.T, their friendship was truly something special. You could feel the emotion and
sadness when they had to say goodbye to each other at the end of the film. It made the audience sad that the movie was to an end. In fact Joey Paur
stated "Steven Spielberg shot the film in chronological order to invoke a real response from the actors (mainly the children) when E.T. departed at the
end. All emotional responses from the last scene are real."(15 Fun Facts About E.T.: The Extra

Diversity In The Film Industry
Hollywood has always struggled with diversity, that's no surprise. The lack of representation between women, minorities, and the LGBT community is
still an issue that needs to be resolved. Just last year after the 2016 Oscars the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag went viral due to the all–white nominees. It
was clear that the nominations favored more in predominately white actors rather than those of color. However, the difference this year round is
remarkable. The Academy learned their lesson after last year's criticism and came through with a change featuring Moonlight, Hidden Figures, and
Fences which earned Best Picture nominations along with Mahershala Ali winning Best Actor for Moonlight and Viola Davis winning Best Supporting

Compare and contrast the cases of Karen Ann Quinlan and Nancy Cruzan. Please note: The Feinbergs have a factual error on page 163. They say
Quinlan was injured in a car accident. This is incorrect. She overdosed on alcohol and Valium at a party, passed out when she got home, and never
woke up.
Both Karen and Nancy where in situations that caused them to go unconscious. The doctors in Nancy's case restarted her heart whereas in Karen's
case she was still breathing. Both sets of doctors placed the girls on feeding and antibiotics. Our text does not explain if Karen's family tried to
appeal the courts or try to remove her from life support, but we do know she lived on it for ten years without recovering in any way before she died.

withholding something needed for life. Examples of this might be taking someone off of a feeding tube or life support and letting them die on their own.

for the verses you list.

Romans 8:18 tells how we don't merely seek an end because it ends our suffering, but rather we seek the end because of the glory that will come after
it. For this reason, we look toward being with Christ in the midst of suffering and after it.
Philippians 1:21 reminds us that we are not our own because if we are to live on earth even in suffering we do so to the glory of Christ and being with
his spirit and if we die it is only to the glory of being with him in heaven.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 shows us how God is our comfort in the midst of suffering so that we can comfort others.
Romans 5:3–4 points out how suffering only grows us closer to Christ through a transformation of character and realization of the fact that our hope is
in him no matter the circumstance.

Examples Of Cinematography In Inglourious Baskerds
This essay is about the movie Inglourious Basterds (2009) written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The significant elements of mise–en–scene in the
film will be discussed, along with the film's elements of cinematography in the opening scene. Film often uses editing techniques in its storytelling that
infer meaning, subtle though they may be. These techniques will be identified and discussed, and the meanings explained. Set in Nazi–occupied
France during World War II, the film follows a group of Jewish US soldiers as they plan to assassinate the leaders of the Third Reich in a movie
theater. Led by Allied officer Lieutenant Aldo Raine, played by Brad Pitt, the "Basterds'" plan coincides with the theater owner's vengeful plans for the
same thing.
The opening shot of a film is one of the most crucial parts of a movie. In the same way that an establishing shot introduces us into the scene, the
opening shot introduces us into a movie. Although not the most memorable, the opening shot is important because the director can use it to convey the
film's main ideas, premises or character arcs. Inglourious Basterds (2009) opens with a long shot of a farm: lush fields of green, small farmhouse, and
a man (Denis MГ©nochet) chopping wood at the center. This is where action will take place. This is 1941 France and life ... Show more content on

The elements of cinematography in the film include a low angle shot looking up at the farmer as he chops wood at the beginning of the scene. The

The Pursuit Of Happiness By Aristotle
The Pursuit of Happiness
Some say that part of the human condition is the pursuit of happiness, but what is happiness? Is it having the best house and cars on the block? Is
it he who has the most friends? To some, happiness is the highest level of success. In four pieces of work that we will be comparing, the
protagonists are at odds with life. They are looking for something more that will help them find happiness. Happiness is not determined by what is
happening around you, but rather what is happening inside of you. "Aristotle held that there are three forms of happiness. The first form of
happiness is a life of pleasure and enjoyment. The second form of happiness is a life as a free and responsible citizen. The third form of happiness is
a life as thinker and philosopher.(Gaarder 105)" Aristotle almost had it right. If Aristotle had lived today, he might have changed his three forms to fit
today's age. Happiness could be achieved with love, free will and pursuing a meaningful life.

What Makes Make Up A Overall Good Movie?
Have you ever endured a movie for an hour or two, just to be thoroughly disappointed at the ending? Or have you been very enticed by seeing
previews, only to find out that the movie itself is a total fluke? Yes, we have all seen a movie only to be completely let down and upset at the
overall film. Some of us even have these great ideas that would have made a terrible movie into an acceptable one. But is there really a magic
formula in creating a movie? Some might say it's just a matter of a good director, a lot of planning and a splash of good luck, but let me go right
ahead regardless if you agree or disagree with me and tell you some of the things that i think make up a overall good movie! Some of the best
movies that all of us have ever watched leave us wanting more, ending that surprises us or makes us feel a little more connected to the movie.
Based on this idea, we can say that there are a few qualities that all great movies should share with one another which is why they always have the
box office records. Looking at the main idea of a movie, we can identify what to expect from it if it's a zombie movie, we know we will see plenty
of bloodshed, if it's a movie about a couple, we can guess that they break up and then make up again and they shall do that about 100 more times. If
it's a sports movie, then you know its going to be about the sport that you are watching it about. But the great thing is about sports movie not to
mention this is why it's my favorite kind of

Anglo–Saxon Brittan 1500 years ago was a harsh time, countless warrior tribes lived with the constant threat of attack. These tribes of Germanic,
Scandinavian, and Danish decent relentlessly warred with each other in order to increase their tribe's influence and wealth. Each tribe was led and
cared for by a King. A King's influence over its neighboring lands was determined by his military might, his wealth, his thanes, and his mead hall. Of
these three, the mead hall was the most multifaceted and essential. The Swiss Army knife of buildings, the mead hall was a palace, a dining hall, a

The American Film Industry : The Asian Community
Throughout history, the American film industry undoubtedly collected evidence that it has a huge racial issue. Despite America's changing
demographics, Hollywood's most powerful leaders still lack behind in responding to the demands for movies that reflect cultural and racial shifts. The
demand for more culturally diverse movies has been increasing over time. There are many great actors and actresses who are struggling to survive in the
film industry due to the fact that they are categorized as a minority. One community in particular who is struggling the most today is the Asian
Community.
There has been an increase in the amount of Asian representation, but only a steady increase. The issue is the lack of Asian representatives in
American Film. Today's lack of Asian actors and actresses can be traced back to the beginning of American film. Back then, minorities barely received
any screen time and rarely showed up on screen. When they do, they were used as extras and/or background characters or as stereotypes. This created a
negative view on the Asian community.

The Role Of Mise-En-ScГ©ne In Film
The French term mise–en–scГ©ne is the visible set up of a movie scene, this setup has been put together before filming. Each setup generates a

Acting And Text Analysis
1. Describe the connection between thinking, breathing and speaking. How can an actor use this connection?
Breathing is incredibly vital within the Stanislavski system of acting; controlling the respiration method allows to you to breathe in the thoughts of
your character and create a connection in your emotional centre to express the characters. Every beat requires a new breath as it is a new idea, often
carrying a new emotion in the character. There is an intertwined connection as the character's thinking is expressed in your breaths, giving the voice to
the character you are playing.

Outer actions are the manifestation of inner actions. Inner actions are private thoughts, motivations and/or intentions of your character. The inner

Reflection On Pianos 4 Hands At Neptune Theatre

  • 1. Reflection On Pianos 4 Hands At Neptune Theatre I went to go see 2 Pianos 4 Hands at Neptune Theatre on March 6th; I have attached the ticket and the program. I was impressed overall with the vocal performance but there were a few things that I noticed. The breath support was diaphragmatic for the most of the play but I did notice some upper chest breathing in Richard Todd Adams, who played Ted. I only noticed this when he was downstage and delivering his speech. Bryce Kulak, who played Richard, seemed to be breathing diaphragmatically the whole time. The sound quality was all over the place with both actors but it was clearly a character choice. When the actors were switching between different characters they added glottal attacks to show the harshness of their character. When there was a particularly strict teacher, extra glottal attacks were added and when they were playing children their voice seemed to have more of a soft quality. One of the things I really admired about this show was how the actors used every part of their voice. They used techniques that would normally be considered bad habits or could be potentially harmful for the voice but being at the end of the run I could not detect any strain on their voices, which means that they are supporting all the work, they are doing. When Mr. Kulak was playing a woman his pitch went up, and then it went back too his center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were a lot of musical terms but I don't think this limited their audience to just music savvy people. It switched between dialogue and monologue but for the most part the story was communicated through dialogue. There were virtually no directed addresses to the audience. Asides were communicated merely with looks. There were tonnes of accents in this show as stated above. Some examples of them were Canadian, British, Italian and French. In summation this was a wonderful play performed superbly. The two clearly knew what they were doing in terms of voice and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Hallmark Reflection Yet again, my attention to the supporting cast members of any production combined with Hallmark's willingness to feature lesser known actors has produced an interview that viewers may not find anywhere else. And frankly, that's the way I like it. A little while ago, Jason McKinnon, whom Hearties saw featured as Mr. Higgins in season four of When Calls the Heart, agreed to chat with me about his unique experience and outlook on the film and television industry in today's society, and our conversation led us to some worthwhile discussion that I believe could benefit both viewers and actors alike. I always have to go hunting for the supporting cast members. But I notice you have done a good amount with Hallmark. It's just kind of worked out that way. It's been interesting. How did you decide to become an actor? That was a no–brainer since seventh grade when I had a teacher who said I should do this. I was like, "What? Be in your class?" She was like, "No, be an actor." I had a lot of support. My teacher's name was Lynn Crymble., and she was the genesis of making sure I would continue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Whats Eating Gilbert Grape Research Paper What's Eating Gilbert Grape In the film What's Eating Gilbert Grape, the main character Gilbert takes on the "Father Role" to support his family economically and financially. The fact Gilbert is the man of the house causes him to repress his anger. His sorrow begins to strengthen his rage in a very unhealthy manner. The melancholy that leads to Gilberts weakening has its roots in his family which is what begins to eat Gilbert alive. All his family members play important individual roles in finding out what's eating Gilbert Grape. What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a beautifully shot movie of tenderness, caring and self–awareness that is set amongst the fictional working class one street town Endora. Centred around the Grape family Ellen and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film was nominated for the prestigious Grand Prix of the Belgian Syndicate of Cinema Critics. In the film, Amy, being the eldest sibling and daughter of the Grapes, plays the "Mother Role" having to take care of the household. "My older sister Amy is more like a mother", explains Gilbert, making him portray the "Father Figure"; as he states, "My father built this house, and it's my job to do the repairs." Amy being the voice of reason tries her best to keep the family together, which causes Gilbert to repress his feelings the more Amy tells him "he has to do better". In the scene when Gilbert leaves Arnie in the bathtub overnight, causes a fright to the family; which is when Amy begins to tell him, "You gotta do better" because without his help the family will fall apart quickly. This builds up Gilbert's emotion because he knows just as Amy he has an important role in the family to fill in. Ellen, the youngest of the siblings, concentrates on appearances, specifically hers. While the family is eating dinner, Ellen begins to chew with her mouth open which disgusts Gilbert. He tells Ellen to close her mouth when she is eating, to which Ellen responds sarcastically, "Oh. Okay Dad. Sure thing, Dad." This aggravates Gilbert because for him it is an insult to be compared to such a man. Gilbert's job is to support his family financially yet Ellen's character seems to make Gilbert feel guilty and responsible for all the bad things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Music Has Impacted My Life Essay Music has always played an important role in my life. Even as a student of film, I tell stories inspired by song lyrics, for the words, rhythms, and instruments of rock music have impacted my life to an unimaginable extent. Whenever I edit video, the underscore is vital. When I write a script, there 's a poetic sound, a lyricism to the dialogue. I would not even be here in Los Angeles if not for artists such as Courtney Love and Jared Leto, who cross boundaries between music and film. In particular, Jared Leto 's career is something to behold. An award–winning actor, director, musician, and pure artist, Leto epitomizes my creative values: never settle, and don 't be afraid to be dedicated to whatever you want to do. Origins Born in Louisiana, Jared Leto attended University of the Arts in Philadelphia to pursue painting. However, he eventually dropped out and studied acting in NYC. He then transitioned to California to begin his career music ("Jared Leto: Biography"). His big break in acting came from the short lived, yet critically lauded TV series, My So Called Life (1994). Four years later, he became lead singer for his rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars. As the years progressed, Leto found success in both artistic avenues. Leto's last film of the 2000s, Mr. Nobody (2009), was met with critical accolades, but marked the beginning of his hiatus from film. In 2013, Leto returned in full swing with his supporting role in Dallas Buyer's Club (2013). A commercial and critical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Function of Dual Roles in Tony Kushner’s Angels in... In Tony Kushner's Angels in America, the interconnection of people and events, that might ordinarily be viewed as disconnected or unrelated, is implicitly presented in the characters section. Dual roles are implemented by a playwright that has one actor portraying the roles of two or more characters, with or without thematic intentions. The use of "dual roles" in several scenes of this play can be viewed as a demonstration of Kushner's effort in maintaining the interconnectedness between characters, communities (i.e. queer, heterosexual, AIDS and political communities) and events to which they are relative. This essay will argue that Kushner's use of dual role's effectively interconnects characters, events and their communities that may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Antarctica's expression and connection to Roy's character and communities is supported within the dialogue. In response to hearing the description of destruction and loss of life on the radio, Antarctica responds by saying, "Let them. Uncountable multitudes. Horrible. It is by their own hands. I I I will rejoice to see it " (Kushner 261). Explicitly Antarctica's responses implicitly parallels Roy's callous nature, perhaps as a specific reference to Roy's outlook on the AIDS community in which he is a part of but denies. This response is significant because it preserves the audiences prior knowledge of Roy and what he stands even contextually as Antarctica. As a result, the use of dual role to interrelate Roy's denial and lack of morality is able to interconnect and expose Roy's stance in relation to AIDS even as the unrelated character of Antarctica. The dual role of "The Angel of Oceania" and Belize is another example of Kushner's ability to sustain interconnectedness between characters and events. Principally, Oceania seems to be a caring and warm character much like Belize, but Belize is also comprised of many interesting communities such as being homosexual and being a black, male nurse. This collection of communities figuratively represents the separate islands that compose Oceania suggesting an implicit correlation in character choice. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these movies introduce an underdog, new to his environment. They are harassed by bullies and taken under the wing by the well–mannered, black belted handyman. Both the original Karate Kid, released in 1984, and the 2010 remake made an impact on our culture, and they both taught us lessons about judgement, bullying, and stereotyping. In the 1984 film, our young hero, Daniel LaRusso, moves to New Jersey with his mother. Likewise, our younger hero from the 2010 remake, Dre Parker, moves from Detroit to Beijing for his mother's work. Both attend school and seek acceptance from their peers. Additionally, both boys live near their respective handyman, Mr. Miyagi in the original, and Mr. Han in the remake. These men act as the only father figures throughout the films. These unique settings created a mysterious surrounding for our underdog heroes which presenting new challenges and endeavors.. The underdog story is told differently in both films. Daniel LaRusso is a charming, relatable kid who struggles to fit in. Dre Parker manages to keep his wits about him even as he crosses into an entirely different country and culture. • 9. Spotlight Essay Spotlight, directed by Thomas McCarthy, has been nominated for three Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. This film should win for Best Picture because of its faultless execution, powerful ensemble, and subject matter. Spotlight is one of the best journalism movies ever made. The film concentrates not only on the big picture of how the journalists discover new information but the little details as well, such as what offices look like in the time period and how the staff reacts to a new boss. Director Thomas McCarthy celebrates journalists and recognizes that what they do is important and necessary, but he doesn't idealize them. McCarthy doesn't need to go into graphic detail about the sexual abuse because all he has to do is lightly tap into it for the audience to be affected. McCarthy is conservative by handling the subject very carefully and slowly drawing the audience into the investigation, making the film very well executed. The ... • 10. Supporting Actor Never The Star. Napoleon Bonaparte Once Supporting Actor Never The Star Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "Women are nothing but machines for producing children" (Goad 2013). In society, especially ancient Greek time, women are seen as the lesser counterpart to men. They are subject made only to be arm candy to men, and to keep the home tidy while caring for the family. Women are supposed to be submissive to men knowing they must obey every command, but men are allowed to roam free doing whatever they please. Times have changed since the ancient days, yet still, like the Greeks, men believe women should have no rights at all. However, some women have found their voice, no longer hiding in fear, or standing in their man's shadows. Women are being bold, yet that is only some. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antigone was set on burying her brother, but for Ismene, even though Polyneices was her blood brother, she still could not step outside her womanly role proclaiming, "Since force constrains me,/ that I shall yield in this to the authorities./ Extravagant action is not sensible" (76–78). Her fear of men kept her from giving her own family member a burial and leaving her only living relative out to dry as she ventured to what would be the start to her own death. When trying her best to tell her sister not to go she mentions, "I will not put dishonor on them, but/ to act in defiance of the citizenry,/ my nature does not give me means for that" (90–93). Not only did she not want to make strife with men, but also go against her city. Greeks were very much loyal to their individual city states, and everyone worked together to preserve their individual rights within that city state. Ismene knew that Antigone and her were no longer the royal family, and to keep both them safe they must obey the city. Their own brother went against the city, and he, now, laid naked in the sun for the birds to pick at. Ismene, finally, comes to her senses no longer acting in silence, but questioning Creon, "Will you kill your son's wife to be?" (623). • 11. Heat Movie Analysis "Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." Robert De Niro's famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann's Heat. Mann is able to have high–octane action one would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues that it doesn't belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heat memorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close–ups and zoom–ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows among others. The utilization of close–ups and zoom–ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we're able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes. Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are introduced to Al Pacino during a sex scene, that's about as intimate as the character–to–audience relationship can get. The intimacy is at an all–time high during the coffee shop scene in which the previously mentioned quote is taken from. Roger Ebert (1995) stated, "The scene concentrates on the truth of 'Heat', which is that these cops and robbers need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Green Mile Argumentative Essay "Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent."–Marlon Brando. This is very true when it comes to supporting actors. Many times the supporting actors will get payed less than the lead actors, of course there are exceptions to that case, but for the most part that is true. The funny thing is, you can't tell the story without other characters. Just think about the movie Cinderella, she wouldn't have been able to go to the ball or meet the prince unless her fairy godmother a.k.a supporting actor, came to her rescue. She wouldn't have ever meet anyone in the first place unless there was a prince a.k.a another supporting actor. • 13. Analysis Of The Epidemic Of Invisibility "Epidemic of Invisibility" For numerous years film studios have been casting and funding movies from all different genres and backgrounds. Most films have a reoccurring and common theme to them. There is a protagonist who faces adversity in a particular setting and must take on various trials and tribulations to achieve his or her goal. For long as I have been watching movies (I'm 19) the main character has had two universal traits in majority of the films I have seen, which are white and male. If you take a moment and attempt to recall all the different movies that you have seen, how many of those main characters are white and or male? The reoccurring notion of a Caucasian male protagonist probably seems extensively more common than you thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the study, researchers analyzed more than 21,00 characters and off–screen workers in over 400 films and television shows aired from September 2014 to August 2015 (Deggans). The study, titled "Inclusion or Invisibility? Comprehensive Annenberg Report on Diversity in Entertainment" focuses on the aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual status. The wide range of results they found was shocking, but somewhat expected in the same instance. Women represent around half of the U.S. population, yet only one–third (33.5%) of roles with dialogue given were female (Deggans). Coincidently, females only made up 3.4 percent of the film directors. Stacy L. Smith, an author of the study, is the founding director of the Media, Diversity and Social Change Initiative at USC communication and journalism school. In her post study comments Smith concluded, "We're seeing that there's not just a diversity problem in Hollywood; there's actually an inclusion crisis," (Deggans). The problem is not simply one of inclusion, but the skewed idea of how women should be portrayed on screen. The USC study found women are four times more likely to be depicted in lingerie or other form of sexy clothing and three times more probable to be shown in the nude. The film industry is adding to the heinous gender roles society follows by depicting women as objects of lust and sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. A Room of One's Own Perception In his novel The Hours, author Michael Cunningham describes his characters in a very unique way. Cunningham portrays his characters through the descriptions of rooms in which each person spends most of their day. The rooms become a window to each character's personality and personal situation. Through reflection of her own room, Clarissa Vaughn comes to realize that she is completely unhappy with the way her life has turned out. Similarly, Cunningham uses Laura Brown's time in her kitchen and her two hour stay in a hotel room to assess her mental standing. These spaces are not only observed by their inhabitants, but also by those close to them. Clarissa's room is observed by her old friend Louis and the reader is given much of Richard's room descriptions through the assessment of Clarissa. These observations by others help the reader gain a sense of not only how the certain character considers their own self, but also how they are perceived by others. Each individual life intersects with another character, which link together characters that seemingly would otherwise not be connected. These observations regarding each room come to not only embody the mental state of each character, but also represent a form of imprisonment for each. Richard is depicted through his apartment room as sullen and wasting away from his disease and depression. Special emphasis is given in particular to the decrepit, "ostentatiously broken and worthless" chair (59). The chair comes to symbolize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It shows that Elliott will do anything to help E.T return back to his home planet. Most of the film was shot from a child's eye–level to help show the bond between Elliott and E.T. The significant elements of mise–en–scene in the film will be discussed, along with the film's elements of cinematography in the opening scene. Film often uses editing techniques in its storytelling that infer meaning, subtle though they may be. These techniques will be identified and discussed, and the meanings explained. Set in Nazi–occupied France during World War II, the film follows a group of Jewish US soldiers as they plan to assassinate the leaders of the Third Reich in a movie theater. Led by Allied officer Lieutenant Aldo Raine, played by Brad Pitt, the "Basterds'" plan coincides with the theater owner's vengeful plans for the same thing. The opening shot of a film is one of the most crucial parts of a movie. In the same way that an establishing shot introduces us into the scene, the opening shot introduces us into a movie. Although not the most memorable, the opening shot is important because the director can use it to convey the film's main ideas, premises or character arcs. Is it having the best house and cars on the block? Is it he who has the most friends? To some, happiness is the highest level of success. In four pieces of work that we will be comparing, the protagonists are at odds with life. They are looking for something more that will help them find happiness. Happiness is not determined by what is happening around you, but rather what is happening inside of you. "Aristotle held that there are three forms of happiness. The first form of happiness is a life of pleasure and enjoyment. The second form of happiness is a life as a free and responsible citizen. The third form of happiness is a life as thinker and philosopher.(Gaarder 105)" Aristotle almost had it right. If Aristotle had lived today, he might have changed his three forms to fit today's age. A King's influence over its neighboring lands was determined by his military might, his wealth, his thanes, and his mead hall. Of these three, the mead hall was the most multifaceted and essential. The Swiss Army knife of buildings, the mead hall was a palace, a dining hall, a bar, and sleeping quarters–a truly essential communal property that was a beacon of light in an unforgiving dark world.
