This can be attributed to the psychological and mental attitudes of the mother. The parents’ profile has revealed that the daughter is at risk of child abuse and neglect. Suspected child abuse and neglect should be treated in a timely manner to protect the child from suffering at the hands of the parent. In this respect, the child should be offered a coordinated and multi-agency attention to enable a statutory intervention to safeguard the interests of the child and protect her from suspected abuse and neglect. In this respect, the case should be afforded timely information sharing between core members of the children protection agency.SA-45 Interpretation As the SA-45 assessment results indicate, the parent has depression, anxiety, phobic anxiety, and somatization. This means that the parents needs help to cope with her psychological issues which could have major ramifications with her ability to create meaningful relationships with her daughter and other members of the society.Ethical Guidelines The ethical application relates to the fact that when the child protection agencies are working towards ensuring the safety of the child, they should not victimize the parent. The treatment that is offered to the parent should not overly focus on child at the cost of the parent. The parent should also be afforded all the ethical aspect of the psychologists including performing a treatment that will be beneficial to the parent and child, the right to privacy, and ensuring that the resultant treatment does not harm either the parent or the child.Treatment The parent should be afforded the treatment that will help with her with ensuring that she does not abuse drugs and also socializing skills. This will be critical in ensuring that all the parties in the case are afforded the right treatment that will help in their relationship. Although the child may need to be placed in child protection, with the right treatment, the child and mother can be reunited. However, it is important for the parent to be treated in order to get rid of her drug abuse behavior and to be capable of creating meaningful relationships.Recommendations In the same respect, the multi-agencies that are working for case should also plan and coordinate actions that are geared towards assessing and response to the protection needs of the child. This includes identifying the fact that the child needs guidance to cope with her traumatic past at the hands of her mother. It is important to note that the child has been through various hardships owing to the fact that her mother is a drug addict who has some mental challenges. NEED STATEMENT
The rising international trend in the number of parents who separate or divorce is raising concerns about long-term consequences for child and youth well-being and adjustment to adulthood.
Separation and divorce may increase risks for negative outcomes in physical, mental, educational and psychosocial well-being during childhood and later, as youth transition to adulthood. Most children of separated and divorced families do not have significant or diagnosable impairments.
Most children and youth experience initial painful emotions including sadness, confusion, fear of abandonment, anger, guilt, grief, and conflicts related to loyalty and misconceptions. Although many children and youth of separating or divorcing parents experience distressing thoughts and emotions, the overwhelming majority do not experience serious outcomes. However, even small negative effects constitute a serious public health problem when multiplied by the millions of individuals who experience separation or divorce.
Due to the effect of the divorce on the kids, they tend to be stubborn and are wild and erratic in behavior which is usually harmful to the children. It affects their daily relationship, academics, and personal lives.
Divorce can increase the risk of mental health problems in children and adolescence. Regardless of age, gender, and culture, studies show children of divorced parents experience increased psychological problems. Divorce may trigger an adjustment disorder in children that resolves within a few months. But, studies have also found depression and anxiety rates are higher in children from divorced parents.
According to our research conducted, children of divorced parents scored significantly lower than children of continuously married parents on measures of academic achievement, conduct, psychological adjustment, self-concept, and social relations. More recent research continues to suggest an ongoing gap between children of divorced parents and continuously married parents. The negative impact of divorce can reach into adulthood and even later in adult married life, with potential increases in poverty, educational failure, risky sexual behavior, unplanned pregnancies, earlier marriage or cohabitation, marital discord, and divorce

According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (1995), children and adolescents are evaluated due to psychiatric disorders that impair emotional, cognitive, physical, and/or behavioral functioning. The child or adolescent is evaluated in the context of the family, school, community, and culture. The purpose and aims of the clinical diagnostic assessment are to determine whether psychopathology is present and, if so, to establish a differential diagnosis and tentative diagnostic formulation, to develop a treatment recommendation and plan, or to communicate the above findings in an appropriate fashion to the parents and child. In addition, the aims of the assessment process are to identify the stated reasons and factors leading to the referral, to assess the nature and severity of the child's behavioral difficulties, functional impairments, subjective distress, and to identify individual, family, or environmental factors that may potentially account for, influence, or ameliorate these difficulties. When assessing children, parents’ interviews and school functioning reports are necessary.
The assessment tool I will discuss in this post is the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED). Per the University of Pittsburg (2019), SCARED is a child and parent self-report instrument used to screen for childhood anxiety disorders including general anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social phobia. In addition, it assesses symptoms related to school phobia. The SCARED consists of 41 items and 5 factors that parallel the DSM-IV classification of anxiety disorders. The child and parent versions of the SCARED have moderate parent-child agreement and good internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and discriminant validity, and it is sensitive to treatment response

: SCARED is a questionnaire with scales that describes how people feel. Clients read each phrase and decide if it is “Not True or Hardly Ever True” or “Somewhat True or Sometimes True” or “Very True or Often True”. Then, for each sentence, they fill in one circle that corresponds to the response that seems to describe them for the last 3 months. After each phrase and circles, there are abbreviations of the various disorders. Therefore,

Introduction
This research paper will involve the reviewing of the issue of child abuse. Child abuse is an issues that has been happening in the society since the ancient times. However, in the modern world, the categorization and the definition of child abuse has changed. Definition of child abuse will involve the inclusion of the different forms of the abuse, common modes of child abuse and the interventions that can be used for addressing of the issues of child abuse. There are different reasons as to why the research study about child abuse is important in the current world, due to the fact that the gathering of data and information about child abuse will help in the devising of strategies and ways of addressing this crisis. According to reports by different organizations such as World Health Organization(WHO), most of the cases of child abuse can be avoided or even treated. Forms of child abuse such as physical, sexual, neglect and even emotional or psychological abuse can be prevented through understanding them.
Rationale for the selection of the topic of child abuse as a research paper is to pass information to the people about the adverse effects associated with child abuse, interventions which can be used for addressing the issue of child abuse and the possible reasons for the increase in the cases of child abuse in the modern world. Consequently, researching on this topic of child abuse helps in the minimization of cots that would have been incurred fostering care, counselling in the family as well medical care. Rationally, most people still have the mentality and perception that child abuse is characterized by the old definitions of working in farms and factories as well as plantations. However, in the current world, child abuse has been revolutionized as well. Issues of sexual abuse and exploitation, such as trafficking, rape and commercial sex are emerging issues in child abuse. Adverse effects of child abuse are normally evident due to the fact that some aspects of child abuse such as emotional hardly heal (Jud, Andreas, Jörg M. Fegert, and David Finkelhor, 17). Due to the fact that issues of child abuse have been ignored in the society, analysis and research on this issue will help in the addressing and handling of this issue.
Background
Different definitions and forms of child abuse have been suggested by both scholars and researchers. Basically, child abuse or even child maltreatment involves the previously identified forms, that is sexual, emotional, neglect and physical. Most of the countries have been sensitizing on the issue of child abuse, with these four notable forms of child abuse having penalties and custody depending on the seriousness of the case. Different perceptions and ideas have been presented with regard to corporal punishmen.

ntroduction
The article that the learner selected that addresses a real-world the problem is residential care placement of young children in rural areas. The concern is that these children should be in foster homes instead they are not receiving adequate treatments and have been found to learn different behaviors from other children. 80 percent of children who are in state custody are put in residential facilities are often found to have both mental and behavioral health problems
(Rishel, Morris, Colyer & Gurley-Calvez, 2014).
These children who are removed from their homes are often place in facilities outside of their state, hand have limited stability academically. This article strives to identify efficient components that assist in the residential placement of young children and discover ways to support the needs of children mentally and behaviorally. The residential placement of children should be address through the multidiscipline approach and include a collaboration of professionals.
Body
As a human service professional in order to address the issue of residential care placement amongst young children, I must first be aware of the five competencies of the multidisciplinary approach: gathering information, synthesizing ideas, collaborating, conceptualizing a course of action and communicating. Gathered information would be obtain through perspectives in a conference from professional who work closely with the placement procedure to get their views on the effectiveness of residential placement and determine if it is cost effective. Some of these professionals who would be included in the dialogue would be involve Child Protective Services, caseworkers, residential counselors, judge, lawyers and psychiatrist who represent the children in various settings and environments such as the court room, residential facility or office buildings. These professionals questioned about their role and the part they play in their placement.
During this collaboration foster care and referral policies, placement plans, monitoring protocols and rehabilitation would be analyzed to determine if children who need proper mental and behavioral health problems are getting fair and appropriate treatment. The recommend course of action would be to lower the amount of young children being place in residential placement. Life Span Parenting Project
Children ought to be evaluated when it comes to their entire environment with the inclusion of whatever negative or positive parental influences that could exist, this is according to Group counseling and psychotherapy with children and adolescents. I have learned that one of the most refreshing impacts concerning parents is because mainly we work with their kids who are reaching the adolescent stage in regions of their personal/social, academic success, career development, and realm. Their work comprises of working in intervention and prevention (Denno et al., 2015). Counselors help students like who undergo rough times, for instance, in adolescent and help them in enlightening their skills of resilience to be equipped better in case of hitting tough times in the future.
The adolescent stage is characterized by uneven and dramatic integration of changes that are developmental into the day to day lives of young persons. Simultaneously, teenagers experience growing independence from their families, mood swings, and at times, rapidly increasing sexuality. The tasks of talking to them usually start within the units of the family. Often, as guardians, we tend to view our teens as fragile thus visit our pediatricians or doctors since we see them as people whom to seek advice from regarding both behavioral and physiologic issues (Shechtman, 2017). The ongoing relationship with the pediatrician and the family gives for enough prospects to offer support and guidance that is anticipated as our kids get into and move through the stage of adolescence.
Determinants of Parenting
As we all know, the parent-child relationship has a massive influence on most aspects of the development of a child. When behaviors, parenting skills, and optimal capabilities have a positive effect on the school achievement or self-esteem of a child, there is positive behavior and development on the kids.

This chapter is divided into seven sections. Section One is an overview that discusses current trends in medicating children, problems the trends cause, and directions for the future. It also discusses developmental issues. Section Two focuses on stimulant medication and the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Treating Childhood Abuse
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who work with children are mandatory reporters (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019). Each state enacts specific statutes that will clarify the guidelines/requirements about reporting suspected child abuse, and it is the obligation of the PMH-NP to know the law in his/her praciting state (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019).
Assessing for Abuse
Sadock, Sadock & Ruiz (2014) identify certain vulnerability factors for PTSD, including the presence of childhood trauma, inadequate support, genetic predisposition to psychiatric illnesses, and recent stressful life changes, all of which the patient in the case study displays. I would keep those facts in mind as I assess any patient for the possibility of abuse/trauma.
First and foremost, establishing a therapeutic alliance is paramount; there can be no self-disclosure without trust (Wheeler, 2014). I’m not sure if this is a “strategy,” per se, but it is the foundation of any relationship between the PMH-NP and her clients.
As I researched this topic, and I researched for hours because of the gravitas of this topic, I found little conclusive evidence for specific strategies. What I did find was a study from the WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (2015) that concluded with,
“Evidence supporting the efficacy of strategies for detecting maltreatment of children and youth within the context of mental health and developmental assessment is sparse and inconclusive. No studies have evaluated the performance of measures in predicting referrals and health outcomes. However, it is generally agreed that it is important for health care providers to detect child maltreatment. It is recognised that assessment of child maltreatment requires a clinician who is competent enough to ask the right questions and to respond appropriately’ (p. 17).
While this is disheartening, it is also a call to action. Not only do we need to be attentive and alert with our younger patients, it is also clear that we can and should be doing more to establish evidence-based protocols for these situations.
With this particular case, considering this is a nineteen year old adult presenting with a history of abuse versus current abuse (at least that has been disclosed thus far), establishing trust and normalizing the feelings of the client will be my priority. Also, I think it’s imperative that we know our limits as clinicians and, while I might feel competent to prescribe medications for this client, I am well aware that bad therapy can worsen trauma for those with PTSD. I used to work closely with our Trauma Stress Center at work and they consistently drove home the importance of shoring up coping skills for these p.

Wk 6- Adult vs. Pediatric Emergencies
Adults presenting for psychiatric emergencies are often handled quite different than children. The decision-making rights of an adult is one of the most basic human rights that must be respected whenever possible (Mental Health America [MHA], 2015). However, children and adolescents presenting for psychiatric emergencies also have rights, but these rights are sometimes different because of their inability to make some independent decisions as a result of them not being of age to grant legal consent. Take for example, Sara, a 41-year-old female presenting to the emergency department after a domestic violence dispute with her husband. Sara’s husband has been physically and emotionally abusive for years. The most recent physical assault resulted in her needing stitches in her forehead and multiple bruises are visible on her face and body. Sara was treated for her injuries, a police report was filed, and she was provided information of shelters for victims of domestic violence. However, Sara declined all offers and asked to be released from the hospital so that she could go bail her husband out of jail. This case is unfortunate, but not uncommon, with many women choosing to return to their abusive partners.
In contrast, consider a child presenting to the emergency department with similar injuries inflicted by the parents. However, this case is less obvious with the parents saying the injuries were “an accident”. When the nurse attempts to evaluate the child, without the parent in the room, the parent refuses to leave, thereby making the nurse suspicious of child abuse. This situation is quite different in that the child’s physical injuries and suspected abuse must be reported. The provider that suspects or discovers child abuse is considered a mandatory reporter and are required, by law, to report suspected child abuse (Child Welfare Information Getaway, 2019). Mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse is both a legal and moral requirement for psychiatric providers. We must advocate for our young clients and psychiatric providers have a legal and ethical duty to continually evaluate their safety in the home environment (Sadock et al., 2014). Based on this concern, I would call the police and Child Protective Service (CPS) to assist with evaluating the safety of this child’s home environment.

consumer and opportunity analysis. When selecting your area of focus, think about your interests and career aspirations. As you progress through the course,
you will have the opportunity to practice the skills required for this project in several milestone activities. Your final deliverable will include a strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of your selected focus; a consumer analysis; an analysis of successful marketing and media strategies;
and a brief 1-, 3-, and 5-year plan that allows you to explain your intended use of a proven marketing strategy and various media opportunities. Please note that

The rising international trend in the number of parents who separate or divorce is raising concerns about long-term consequences for child and youth well-being and adjustment to adulthood.
Separation and divorce may increase risks for negative outcomes in physical, mental, educational and psychosocial well-being during childhood and later, as youth transition to adulthood. Most children of separated and divorced families do not have significant or diagnosable impairments.
Most children and youth experience initial painful emotions including sadness, confusion, fear of abandonment, anger, guilt, grief, and conflicts related to loyalty and misconceptions. Although many children and youth of separating or divorcing parents experience distressing thoughts and emotions, the overwhelming majority do not experience serious outcomes. However, even small negative effects constitute a serious public health problem when multiplied by the millions of individuals who experience separation or divorce.
Due to the effect of the divorce on the kids, they tend to be stubborn and are wild and erratic in behavior which is usually harmful to the children. It affects their daily relationship, academics, and personal lives.
Divorce can increase the risk of mental health problems in children and adolescence. Regardless of age, gender, and culture, studies show children of divorced parents experience increased psychological problems. Divorce may trigger an adjustment disorder in children that resolves within a few months. But, studies have also found depression and anxiety rates are higher in children from divorced parents.
According to our research conducted, children of divorced parents scored significantly lower than children of continuously married parents on measures of academic achievement, conduct, psychological adjustment, self-concept, and social relations. More recent research continues to suggest an ongoing gap between children of divorced parents and continuously married parents. The negative impact of divorce can reach into adulthood and even later in adult married life, with potential increases in poverty, educational failure, risky sexual behavior, unplanned pregnancies, earlier marriage or cohabitation, marital discord, and divorce

According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (1995), children and adolescents are evaluated due to psychiatric disorders that impair emotional, cognitive, physical, and/or behavioral functioning. The child or adolescent is evaluated in the context of the family, school, community, and culture. The purpose and aims of the clinical diagnostic assessment are to determine whether psychopathology is present and, if so, to establish a differential diagnosis and tentative diagnostic formulation, to develop a treatment recommendation and plan, or to communicate the above findings in an appropriate fashion to the parents and child. In addition, the aims of the assessment process are to identify the stated reasons and factors leading to the referral, to assess the nature and severity of the child's behavioral difficulties, functional impairments, subjective distress, and to identify individual, family, or environmental factors that may potentially account for, influence, or ameliorate these difficulties. When assessing children, parents’ interviews and school functioning reports are necessary.
The assessment tool I will discuss in this post is the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED). Per the University of Pittsburg (2019), SCARED is a child and parent self-report instrument used to screen for childhood anxiety disorders including general anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social phobia. In addition, it assesses symptoms related to school phobia. The SCARED consists of 41 items and 5 factors that parallel the DSM-IV classification of anxiety disorders. The child and parent versions of the SCARED have moderate parent-child agreement and good internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and discriminant validity, and it is sensitive to treatment response

Introduction
This research paper will involve the reviewing of the issue of child abuse. Child abuse is an issues that has been happening in the society since the ancient times. However, in the modern world, the categorization and the definition of child abuse has changed. Definition of child abuse will involve the inclusion of the different forms of the abuse, common modes of child abuse and the interventions that can be used for addressing of the issues of child abuse. There are different reasons as to why the research study about child abuse is important in the current world, due to the fact that the gathering of data and information about child abuse will help in the devising of strategies and ways of addressing this crisis. According to reports by different organizations such as World Health Organization(WHO), most of the cases of child abuse can be avoided or even treated. Forms of child abuse such as physical, sexual, neglect and even emotional or psychological abuse can be prevented through understanding them.
Rationale for the selection of the topic of child abuse as a research paper is to pass information to the people about the adverse effects associated with child abuse, interventions which can be used for addressing the issue of child abuse and the possible reasons for the increase in the cases of child abuse in the modern world. Consequently, researching on this topic of child abuse helps in the minimization of cots that would have been incurred fostering care, counselling in the family as well medical care. Rationally, most people still have the mentality and perception that child abuse is characterized by the old definitions of working in farms and factories as well as plantations. However, in the current world, child abuse has been revolutionized as well. Issues of sexual abuse and exploitation, such as trafficking, rape and commercial sex are emerging issues in child abuse. Adverse effects of child abuse are normally evident due to the fact that some aspects of child abuse such as emotional hardly heal (Jud, Andreas, Jörg M. Fegert, and David Finkelhor, 17). Due to the fact that issues of child abuse have been ignored in the society, analysis and research on this issue will help in the addressing and handling of this issue.
Background
Different definitions and forms of child abuse have been suggested by both scholars and researchers. Basically, child abuse or even child maltreatment involves the previously identified forms, that is sexual, emotional, neglect and physical. Most of the countries have been sensitizing on the issue of child abuse, with these four notable forms of child abuse having penalties and custody depending on the seriousness of the case. Different perceptions and ideas have been presented with regard to corporal punishmen.
Implementing SF in ECE Programs

ntroduction
The article that the learner selected that addresses a real-world the problem is residential care placement of young children in rural areas. The concern is that these children should be in foster homes instead they are not receiving adequate treatments and have been found to learn different behaviors from other children. 80 percent of children who are in state custody are put in residential facilities are often found to have both mental and behavioral health problems
(Rishel, Morris, Colyer & Gurley-Calvez, 2014).
These children who are removed from their homes are often place in facilities outside of their state, hand have limited stability academically. This article strives to identify efficient components that assist in the residential placement of young children and discover ways to support the needs of children mentally and behaviorally. The residential placement of children should be address through the multidiscipline approach and include a collaboration of professionals.
Body
As a human service professional in order to address the issue of residential care placement amongst young children, I must first be aware of the five competencies of the multidisciplinary approach: gathering information, synthesizing ideas, collaborating, conceptualizing a course of action and communicating. Gathered information would be obtain through perspectives in a conference from professional who work closely with the placement procedure to get their views on the effectiveness of residential placement and determine if it is cost effective. Some of these professionals who would be included in the dialogue would be involve Child Protective Services, caseworkers, residential counselors, judge, lawyers and psychiatrist who represent the children in various settings and environments such as the court room, residential facility or office buildings. These professionals questioned about their role and the part they play in their placement.
During this collaboration foster care and referral policies, placement plans, monitoring protocols and rehabilitation would be analyzed to determine if children who need proper mental and behavioral health problems are getting fair and appropriate treatment. The recommend course of action would be to lower the amount of young children being place in residential placement. Focusing on meeting the children’s needs during the early years of their life and including the family as a whole will prevent behavioral and mental problems from happen so frequently and allow these children to remain home with their families. Life Span Parenting Project
Children ought to be evaluated when it comes to their entire environment with the inclusion of whatever negative or positive parental influences that could exist, this is according to Group counseling and psychotherapy with children and adolescents. I have learned that one of the most refreshing impacts concerning parents is because mainly we work with their kids who are reaching the adolescent stage in regions of their personal/social, academic success, career development, and realm. Their work comprises of working in intervention and prevention (Denno et al., 2015). Counselors help students like who undergo rough times, for instance, in adolescent and help them in enlightening their skills of resilience to be equipped better in case of hitting tough times in the future.
The adolescent stage is characterized by uneven and dramatic integration of changes that are developmental into the day to day lives of young persons. Simultaneously, teenagers experience growing independence from their families, mood swings, and at times, rapidly increasing sexuality. The tasks of talking to them usually start within the units of the family. Often, as guardians, we tend to view our teens as fragile thus visit our pediatricians or doctors since we see them as people whom to seek advice from regarding both behavioral and physiologic issues (Shechtman, 2017). The ongoing relationship with the pediatrician and the family gives for enough prospects to offer support and guidance that is anticipated as our kids get into and move through the stage of adolescence.
Determinants of Parenting
As we all know, the parent-child relationship has a massive influence on most aspects of the development of a child. When behaviors, parenting skills, and optimal capabilities have a positive effect on the school achievement or self-esteem of a child, there is positive behavior and development on the kids.

Some other treatment programs that can be used to work in families include family therapy, family-centered therapy, or family-based therapy. These programs change from one to the other. These are effective when it comes to family counseling and help in coming to terms with the stage or any disorder that could arise in the process.
As far as I am concerned, therapy is vital when looking at parenting approaches. This is because when an individual is a child, through adolescent to when they mature to being adults, they require guideline on being better per.

Medicating Children
This chapter is divided into seven sections. Section One is an overview that discusses current trends in medicating children, problems the trends cause, and directions for the future. It also discusses developmental issues. Section Two focuses on stimulant medication and the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Section Three focuses on research on combined interventions and particularly the Multimodal Treatment Study (MTA study) of Children with ADHD. Section Four focuses on children taking mood stabilizers. Section Five focuses on antipsychotics and children. Sections Six and Seven focus on anxiolytics and antidepressants in children, respectively.

Treating Childhood Abuse
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who work with children are mandatory reporters (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019). Each state enacts specific statutes that will clarify the guidelines/requirements about reporting suspected child abuse, and it is the obligation of the PMH-NP to know the law in his/her praciting state (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2019).
Assessing for Abuse
Sadock, Sadock & Ruiz (2014) identify certain vulnerability factors for PTSD, including the presence of childhood trauma, inadequate support, genetic predisposition to psychiatric illnesses, and recent stressful life changes, all of which the patient in the case study displays. I would keep those facts in mind as I assess any patient for the possibility of abuse/trauma.
First and foremost, establishing a therapeutic alliance is paramount; there can be no self-disclosure without trust (Wheeler, 2014). I’m not sure if this is a “strategy,” per se, but it is the foundation of any relationship between the PMH-NP and her clients.
As I researched this topic, and I researched for hours because of the gravitas of this topic, I found little conclusive evidence for specific strategies. What I did find was a study from the WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (2015) that concluded with,
“Evidence supporting the efficacy of strategies for detecting maltreatment of children and youth within the context of mental health and developmental assessment is sparse and inconclusive. No studies have evaluated the performance of measures in predicting referrals and health outcomes. However, it is generally agreed that it is important for health care providers to detect child maltreatment. It is recognised that assessment of child maltreatment requires a clinician who is competent enough to ask the right questions and to respond appropriately’ (p. 17).
While this is disheartening, it is also a call to action. Not only do we need to be attentive and alert with our younger patients, it is also clear that we can and should be doing more to establish evidence-based protocols for these situations.
With this particular case, considering this is a nineteen year old adult presenting with a history of abuse versus current abuse (at least that has been disclosed thus far), establishing trust and normalizing the feelings of the client will be my priority. Also, I think it’s imperative that we know our limits as clinicians and, while I might feel competent to prescribe medications for this client, I am well aware that bad therapy can worsen trauma for those with PTSD. I used to work closely with our Trauma Stress Center at work and they consistently drove home the importance of shoring up coping skills for these p.

Wk 6- Adult vs. Pediatric Emergencies
Adults presenting for psychiatric emergencies are often handled quite different than children. The decision-making rights of an adult is one of the most basic human rights that must be respected whenever possible (Mental Health America [MHA], 2015). However, children and adolescents presenting for psychiatric emergencies also have rights, but these rights are sometimes different because of their inability to make some independent decisions as a result of them not being of age to grant legal consent. Take for example, Sara, a 41-year-old female presenting to the emergency department after a domestic violence dispute with her husband. Sara’s husband has been physically and emotionally abusive for years. The most recent physical assault resulted in her needing stitches in her forehead and multiple bruises are visible on her face and body. Sara was treated for her injuries, a police report was filed, and she was provided information of shelters for victims of domestic violence. However, Sara declined all offers and asked to be released from the hospital so that she could go bail her husband out of jail. This case is unfortunate, but not uncommon, with many women choosing to return to their abusive partners.
In contrast, consider a child presenting to the emergency department with similar injuries inflicted by the parents. However, this case is less obvious with the parents saying the injuries were “an accident”. When the nurse attempts to evaluate the child, without the parent in the room, the parent refuses to leave, thereby making the nurse suspicious of child abuse. This situation is quite different in that the child’s physical injuries and suspected abuse must be reported. The provider that suspects or discovers child abuse is considered a mandatory reporter and are required, by law, to report suspected child abuse (Child Welfare Information Getaway, 2019). Mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse is both a legal and moral requirement for psychiatric providers. We must advocate for our young clients and psychiatric providers have a legal and ethical duty to continually evaluate their safety in the home environment (Sadock et al., 2014). Based on this concern, I would call the police and Child Protective Service (CPS) to assist with evaluating the safety of this child’s home environment.
The child’s safety at home and mandatory reporting is quite different from that of Sara, the adult victim of domestic .

Marketing and advertising are often used interchangeably, yet throughout this course you have learned that marketing is a much larger concept that requires a
strong understanding of consumer behavior, products and services, and often the greater economic environment. Marketing is applicable to every industry and
discipline in one way or another, but within the sport industry we have the chance to see the application of marketing concepts as if under a spotlight due to the
industry’s global reach and importance to society.
Your final project is the creation of an Opportunity and Consumer Analysis. You will select a sport team, individual, facility, or organization as the focus of your
consumer and opportunity analysis. When selecting your area of focus, think about your interests and career aspirations. As you progress through the course,
you will have the opportunity to practice the skills required for this project in several milestone activities. Your final deliverable will include a strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis of your selected focus; a consumer analysis; an analysis of successful marketing and media strategies;
and a brief 1-, 3-, and 5-year plan that allows you to explain your intended use of a proven marketing strategy and various media opportunities. Please note that
your Opportunity and Consumer Analysis will be an eligible artifact to include in your program portfolio, as it will highlight your ability to recognize consumer
characteristics and opportunities for brand improvement.
The project is divided into two milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final

Healthcare professionals are confronted with ethical dilemmas and moral questions as the context in which healthcare is provided keeps on changing. Healthcare specialists are required to be dedicated to excellence within their professional practice of promoting community, organizational, family, and individual health. Healthcare code of ethics provides a platform for shared professional values (Wocial & Tarzian, 2015). It is the responsibility of healthcare specialists to reach the best possible standards of conduct and to encourage these ethical practices to those with whom they work together. Healthcare professionals are facing challenges as the context in which healthcare is provided keeps on changing.
The Three Mountains Regional Hospital code of ethics will clarify the roles and responsibilities within the healthcare profession. The code of ethics will also guide the healthcare professionals on addressing common ethical questions. With 15,000 admissions annually, the Three Mountains Regional Hospital requires a code of ethics that will guide the healthcare professionals in the hospital in dealing with such a capacity. This general education course is a study of the birth and evolution of the music form of Rock and Roll. It is a study of both the historical and musical elements of rock with a focus on the performers and the songs in the genre. Some of the objectives for this course include:

Essay assignment will consist of attending a live musical performance at the Frost School of Music (or approved off campus performance). At the conclusion of the performance, you will obtain signatures of two or more participants. You will compose an essay that will summarize the performance (ensemble, repertoire, etc.). You will compare and/or contrast the performance with details we have studied in class. The essay should be two to three pages long, computer printed, double spaced, and stapled. It will be due on Thursday, November 19.
Conduct and rules:
Rock and roll is a joyous art form. I intend for the class to be a fun and learning environment. I hope to engage you as adults, not as adolescents. However, inappropriate language or behavior to one another will not be tolerated, and will result in the student facing disciplinary action and potential removal from the class. You are adults. I am not your baby-sitter. If you fail to attend class regularly, you will find it much more difficult to excel in the course. SHOW UP AND PAY ATTENTION! It will make your life easier in the long run. Plagiarism on your essay will not be acceptable, and will result in the loss of 10% of your final grade. Cheating is rampant. While I will make every effort to curb the options students might have to copy one another on tests, I can’t stop it completely. I will have assistance from the Honor Council on test days, and cheating will result in a zero on that test. None of you can afford this. I truly believe that if you will engage the material, come to the lectures, and actively listen to the required listening material, you will not find a need to cheat.

tives would probably come up with
something like this: Strategy involves
discovering and targeting attractive
markets and then crafting positions that
deliver sustained competitive advan-
tage in them. Companies achieve these
positions by configuring and arranging
resources and activities to provide either
unique value to customers or common
value at a uniquely low cost. This view of strategy as
position remains central in business school curricula
around the globe: Valuable positions, protected from
imitation and appropriation, provide sustained profit
streams.
Unfortunately, investors don't reward senior
managers for simply occupying and defending po-
sitions. Equity markets are full of companies with
powerful positions and sluggish stock prices. The
retail giant Walmart is a case in point. Few people
would dispute that it remains a remarkable firm. Its
early focus on building a regionally dense network
of stores in small towns delivered a strong positional
advantage. Complementary choices regarding ad-
vertising, pricing, and information technology all
continue to support its low-cost and flexibly mer-
chandised stores.
Despite this strong position and a successful stra-
tegic rollout, Walmart's equity price has seen little
growth for most of the past 12 or 13 years. That's be-
cause the ongoing rollout was anticipated long ago,
and investors seek evidence of newly discovered
value—value of compounding magnitude. Merely
sustaining prior financial returns, even if they are
outstanding, does not significantly increase share
price; tomorrow's positive surprises must be worth
more than yesterday's.
Not surprisingly, I consistently advise MBA stu-
dents that if they're confronted with a choice be-
tween leading a poorly run company and leading a
well-run one, they should choose the former. Imag-
ine assuming the reins of GE from Jack Welch in Sep-
tember 2001 with shareholders' having enjoyed a 40-
fold increase in value over the prior two decades. The
expectations baked into the share price of a company
like that are daunting, to say the least.
To make matters worse, attempts to grow often
undermine a company's current market position.
As Michael Porter, the leading proponent of strat-
egy as positioning, has argued, "Efforts to grow blur

uniqueness, create compromises, reduce fit, and
ultimately undermine competitive advantage. In
fact, the growth imperative is hazardous to strategy."

These feelings aren’t new. They’ve erupted now
and in the past because we don’t like being told how
to behave—and no other group in organizational life,
not even finance, bosses us around as systematically
as HR does. We get defensive when we’re instructed
to change how we interact with people, especially
those who report to us, because that goes right to the
core of who we are. What’s more, HR makes us per-
form tasks we dislike, such as documenting problems
with employees. And it prevents us from doing what
we want, such as hiring someone we “just know” is
a good fit. Its directives affect every person in the
organization, right up to the top, every single day.
The complaints also have a cyclical quality—
they’re driven largely by the business context. Usu-
ally when companies are struggling with labor issues,
HR is seen as a valued leadership partner. When
things are going more smoothly all around, manag-
ers tend to think, “What’s HR doing for us, anyway?”
This doesn’t mean that HR is above reproach.
Quite the contrary: It has plenty of room to improve,
and this is a moment of enormous opportunity. Little
has been done in the past few decades to examine the
value of widely used practices that are central to how
companies operate. By separating the effective from
the worthless, HR leaders can secure huge payoffs for
their organizations. But it’s important to understand
HR’s tumultuous history with business leaders and
the economy before turning our attention to what the
function should be doing now and in the future.
The “Personnel” Pendulum
How top executives feel about HR pretty reliably re-
flects what’s going on in the U.S. economy. When the
economy is down and the labor market is slack, they
see HR as a nuisance. But sentiments change when
labor tightens up and HR practices become essential
to companies’ immediate success.
Think back to the Great Depression. People would
put up with nearly anything to stay employed. Line
managers complained that personnel departments
were getting in the way of better performance, which
they thought could be achieved with the “drive” sys-
tem: threatening workers and sometimes even hit-
ting them if they failed to measure up.
Similarly, business leaders didn’t put a lot of
stock in HR during the 2001 and 2008 recessions, be-
cause employees—keenly aware of how replaceable

• You must have an audience of at least 5 adults 18 years or older for all speeches. The audience must be live and in person, that is, physically present. Virtual attendance is not permitted. Your video recording must show the 5 individuals sitting as ENGAGED audience members. The audience should be visible before, during, and after the speech and you should be facing your audience. Introduction
Many technologies exist to assist with better clinical documentation and speech recognition technology (SRT) is one
solution. Since SRT uses mathematic probabilities, the technology can be complicated. The goals of its use in
healthcare today, however, are clear: Increase productivity, decrease costs, and improve documentation while
placing it closest to the point of care.
This practice brief focuses on increasing the understanding of how speech recognition works by highlighting the
driving forces that are shaping current and future applications of this technology and its associated benefits and risks.
This practice brief also provides tools including illustrated work flow, tasks and skills, and best practices to assist in
efficient and effective application of SRT for day-to-day operations.
Driving Forces
Payment reform. Quality measures. Meaningful use. EHR adoption. Transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS. Health
information exchange. Consumer engagement. Personal health records and patient portals. What do these areas have
in common? They all point to the increasing need for accurate, complete, and accessible data in an environment that
requires real-time documentation.
Documentation should improve the quality of the patient encounter and create efficiencies.
In the past, handwriting provided an immediate record of care. Legibility came to the forefront as an issue and
documentation was often not as comprehensive when compared to a well-constructed dictated note. Today, speech
recognition or speech-to-text is used in conjunction with the EHR and is considered a viable option in the face of the
growing demand for near-real-time data.
Front-end speech recognition (FESR) and back-end speech recognition (BESR) technologies can help in the
production of legible and comprehensive document(s). It also serves as a productivity tool to help lower costs and
increase productivity, especially when compared to the manual labor required by traditional dictation and
transcription.
Emerging Roles
In 2012, The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) coined the term "healthcare
documentation specialist (HDS)," which they define as "an umbrella term that includes medical transcriptionists,
speech recognition editors and QA specialists."1

Jodee: [00:02:12] How has that worked so far just to kind of pair off your response on that TS5 how has it like you're able to see that it's not the Autism that's a problem. How do you stear that to the correct path and have deal with this and what the kid is capable of doing regarding transition.
Sped5: [00:02:34] Well I was fortunate in this area where I think it was an issue of the mom was in denial that it wasn't all the other teachers were like no. This is what this is what he needs. You know because of the IEP I'm trying to get him. You know support all the time and it's just a matter of when they look at the IEP and says why is it that it will be this and this and I'm like I didn't write the IEPP I didn't put down autism. I'll just tell you what I see now what I have and that's what it is. And so it wasn't until at an an IEP meeting that the other teachers who see them every day too are like no this is where he's at. He needs the support he needs this because of x y z. So you know that's just for example.
Jodee: [00:03:25] Okay TS7 I'm going to kind of put you on the spot on for a minute when we talked a couple of days ago about that one student what were some of the things that you might have encountered in working with the parents on regarding transitioning him. Abstract Attention to extreme forms of political violence in the social sciences has been
episodic, and studies of different forms of political violence have followed different
approaches, with “breakdown” theories mostly used for the analysis of right-wing radicalism,
social movement theories sometimes adapted to research on left-wing radical groups, and
area study specialists focusing on ethnic and religious forms. Some of the studies on extreme
forms of political violence that have emerged within the social movement tradition have
nevertheless been able to trace processes of conflict escalation through the detailed exam-
ination of historical cases. This article assesses some of the knowledge acquired in previous
research approaching issues of political violence from the social movement perspective, as
well as the challenges coming from new waves of debate on terrorist and counterterrorist
action and discourses. In doing this, the article reviews contributions coming from research
looking at violence as escalation of action repertoires within protest cycles; political
opportunity and the state in escalation processes; resource mobilization and violent
organizations; narratives of violence; and militant constructions of external reality.

There are several reasons for this. First, some of the research has been considered to be more
oriented towards developing antiterrorist policies than to a social science understanding of the
phenomenon. In fact, “many who have written about terrorism have been directly or indirectly
involved in the business of counterterrorism, and their vision has been narrowed and distorted
by the search for effective responses to terrorism…. [S]ocial movement scholars, with very few
exceptions, have said little about terrorism” (Goodwin 2004, p. 259). Second, studies of
different forms of political violence have followed different approaches, with “breakdown”
theories mostly used for the analysis of right-wing radicalism, social movement theories
sometimes adapted to research on left-wing radical groups, and area study specialists focusing
