                                                                                     Students pick a number card and represent the
                                                                                     number in two parts by choosing colored gems
                                                                                     from a tub of lavender seeds. Student’s place the
                                                                                     gems onto the overhead in two parts and show
                                                                                     and name the parts using their fingers.




              After reading a story to learn about a
              set, students created their own set
              using various manipulatives .


              “ You and a friend were at the beach
              collecting rocks. Together you collect
              8 rocks in all. How many rocks did
              each of you collect?”
