• PUNGANUR COW
Punganur Cow is one of the world's smallest Bos indicus cattle originated in Punganur town in
Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The milk of this small breed has high fat content and
rich medicinal properties.

4th place in AP state in poultry farms and Egg production.
Farmers, along with other companies, have been running more than 270 poultry
farms in Chittoor, Palamaner, Madanapalle and other places.
The Chittoor district has the largest number of poultries and hatcheries, and
thousands of families depend on them. Chittoor contributed nearly `4,500 crore to
the nation's exchequer by exporting chicks and eggs to neighboring States.
At an Average 30 lakh broilers per month are generally produced

Sericulture activity carried out in an extent of 24600 acres in the District and
it stands 1st Place in the area of achievement in the Map of Andhra Pradesh. This
activity is being practiced by 18750 Seri culturists covering majority in Kuppam,
Palamaner and Madanapalli Divisions and also encouraging in Nontraditional areas
of Chittoor and Tirupati Divisions of Chittoor District.

(EMC-I) in 124.00 Acres at Renigunta and Yerpedu Mandals with a project cost of Rs.104.40 crore
vide No.36(9)/2017-IPHW (Vol.II), dt:07.12.2017.
EMC- II: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) Govt., of India has
accorded in Acs.514.67 cents at Vikruthamala village of Yerpedu Mandal Principle approval with an
estimated project cost of Rs.339.80 crores providing grant-in-aid of Rs.111.42 crores on 02.08.2017
vide Lr.No.36(43)/2016-IPHW (VoL-VI).
So far Land allotment made for 30 units to the extent of 311.49 Acres with Proposed
Project Investment of Rs.3600 Crores and expected Employment Generation for

37. EXPORTS FROM CHITTOOR DISTRICT
Mango and Fruit pulp Export hub:
The District Ranks first in Mango production in the state with 6.99 lakh MT produced in 2017-18. Out
of the State horticulture GVA of Rs.75187/- Crore Chittoor District Contributes Rs.10752/- Crores which
amounts to 14.3%. The GVA of the Horticulture sector is Rs.10752 Crores and the Growth Engine of this
sector are Mangoes at Rs.5710 Corers (53%) followed by Tomato- Rs.3293 Crores (30%). The above two
crops alone contribute around 83% to this sector. Based on these two Crops there exists 55 Mango Canning
units and 15 Aseptic Packaging units in the District. Investment of this industries Rs. 400 crores and creating
employment of 5000Nos. Estimated Exports from this district are around Rs.1500 Crores per annum.

38. EXPORTS FROM CHITTOOR DISTRICT
Polished Granite and Granite Monuments:
Granite (in different colours of Black, Pink and Grey) are found in various mandals of the district. The
Granite reserves are around 554075 thousand Cubic metres in the district. 609 Granite quarry leases have
been issued extent of 1536 Hectare. Out of them 494 are working. There are more than 450 Granite cutting
and Polishing units are existing in the district. Most of them are under MSME sector, out of them only 15 to 20
units are exporting. Monuments from Granites are exported from Kuppam. Estimated turnover is more than
Rs. 950 crores. Majority of the granite slabs are produced from Chittoor, MadanaPalli and Kuppam. Granite
Industries are developed like clusters in the above mentioned areas. The advantage of the Chittoor granite
cluster is located almost equidistance from Major Metro markets Bangalore and Chennai.

Textile and Garments:
Garments are another exportable product in the District. AKR Textiles from Kuppam, KGI
Clothing industries, MS Garments from Sricity. H2 apparels, Vishwam apparels from
Gangavaram, and Shahi exports from Kuppam are exporting the Garments. There are
some more units working at Madana Palli and Nagari. The Estimated Export potential is
over Rs.500 Crores per Annum.
