Star Wars: A Narrative Fiction
I awoke in my bed, hearing my phone go off. I pressed the green button in the middle wearily. "
HEY!" the phone seemed to scream at me. It was just my friend Paul, thank goodness. Even
though he was two years younger than me, he was still a good friend. " Are you up? Come on,
kid! I've got a surprise for you!" I got dressed, fixed my hair, and ran out the door. Paul, was
standing there with the story that we had written together a few weeks ago. I wondered why, but the
thought raced away when she spoke: "You're NEVER going to believe this, Kiana! Our story is
going to be made into a MOVIE!" My eyes widened, my smile was so big my face hurt. " You're
kidding!" I joked. Paul smiled even bigger. " You betcha! You know I've got George Lucas's email,
right?" I nodded. George Lucas was the one who had written and directed all the original Star Wars
movies. Me and...show more content...
The next thing I know me and Paul were asked to meet him at the local italian restaurant, Fazoli's.
Me and Paul had been there quite a few times with our families. " It is a pleasure to meet you Mr.
Lucas. We are soooooo glad that you have considered my story!" Paul said. HIS story? We wrote
it together! In fact, I came up with the storyline, the characters, the setting, everything! I started to
feel a little jealous as I ate my fettuccine alfredo." Yes, Paul, yes. I believe Miss Kiana helped you
too?" Mr. Lucas asked him. " Yes, I
–" I started to say. " Yeah sure. I guess you could say that." he
told him. I slammed my fist on the table. The others looked at me in concern. Mr. Lucas went on
to tell us that we were going to fly to California so that we could oversee the film process. " Wow,
I'm only 13, and yet I am the luckiest kid in the world!" Paul shouted out with glee as we got on
the plane. I couldn't believe it! he was totally disregarding the fact that I had written most of it! I
grew angry. Before I could say something, however, I heard a familiar

My Success Story Essay
My success to education
Blondie Torres
ENG. 121
Concetta Williams
July 18, 2011
Looking back at the past eleven weeks I have grown and learned so much here at Ashford
University. I never thought that I would actually accomplish my educational dreams and be
successful in my life, but I definitely have proved, myself wrong. I love knowing that I am doing
great and I really try to do my best in completing my homework on time, with the occasions of a few
speed bumps along the way.
I decided to return to school to further my education for many important reasons. I have struggled
tremendously in the past with my five children and I wanted to change that life style for good. I am
so very tired of trying to make ends meet and not...show more content...
I decided to just go for it and I am so glad I did because I know now that I have overcome that fear
and I feel as if I can accomplish anything and everything. I can also say that I have matured in
many ways as a mother, first time college student, and being a single mother of five. My kids had
to adjust to the new routine as well. They did not understand at first but eventually they came
around and little by little they gave me the time I needed to study and do homework. I still have to
overcome a few obstacles in order to complete my degree program, just like I had to overcome all
the changes that come with me returning to school.
One of the main obstacles I must achieve here at Ashford University is to listen, learn, and to be
obedient in all the discussions and the assignments asked of me. Last but not least I have to say I
have to overcome all negative feelings I get from time to time to complete all my educational
goals. I need to be prepared mentally and physically for anything that is being asked of me from
my instructors. I feel that I need to keep an open mind as well because I know all the feedback
from classmates and instructors will be of great help in making me a better person and learner.
There are a few things I must do to overcome all these certain obstacles here in college in order to
have a successful completion of my degree.
I will have to keep doing all these helpful strategies that have gotten me this far. For example, using

Example Of A Narrative Essay College
A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a
message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are
written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the
writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which
the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it
all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main
events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to
approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content...
This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me
that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it
taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When
choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and
shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for
my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to
write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although
breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever
broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that
was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach
as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May
have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth

Fantasy Story Deep in the City of Chic, on the plant of Decorous, there was a school named
Ennui High School. At this school there was a very interesting girl named Bliss. Bliss had long
wavy golden brown hair. She had big blue eyes that were on flawless snowy skin. Her lips were full,
and they were always the perfect shade of soft crimson even without lipstick.
Bliss just turned 17. She was doing well at school, but she really felt she was ready to get out of her
old routine and see what else was out there.
One spring Friday morning, Bliss was sitting on the stoop of the apartment building were she lived
with her parents. She was looking up at the pink and purple towering buildings around her. They are

Bliss looked with bewilderment at Jest. He was calmly sitting on the white floor licking one of his

come from?", Jest answered, "Um, that was the voice of the magic wand. And it came from the
wand." Bliss said, "That helps a lot. Well I guess we should get going." They went out of the white
room through the emerald door to the royal blue hallway. They stepped down the red stairs and out
of the light pink building.
Jest said, "Do you know where Morale Park is?" "Yes I do, but I don't know where we are,"
answered Bliss. "Do you know how to get there from Mulisha Square?" asked Jest. "Yes I do,"
said Bliss. She followed Jest down the street. They did another series of turns until they were at
Mulisha Square. Mulisha Square is a square block in the middle of Chic. It is made up of bright
pink bricks. On two sides it is sunken with steps that are used as sitting places. From there she found
Morale Park easily.
Morale Park had always been one of Bliss's favorite parks in Chic. On this day it looked especially
magnificent because it

Literacy Narrative Essay example
At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into
the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content...
You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Essay about The Life of Celebrities
There are many advantages and disadvantages to a celebrity life. Some of the advantages that I will
evince later on in the essay are: money, popularity, good press in magazines; however, some of the
disadvantages that I, too, will evince later on are: privacy intrusions, harassment and childrens'
privacy (children of the celebrities). This essay will also discuss the impact this has on us and will
debate the luscious lives of celebrities – or, some may argue, the cruel, callous life of a celebrity.
There are many advantages of being a celebrity – we all know that – some of these are: the money,
celebrities earn impressive amounts of money, for example, Tiger Woods has made over a billion
dollars; the popularity, everyone wants to be...show more content...
Examples of this can be things like: simply taking a picture, naming the children. One may think
why is this is an issue, well it can be, because what if someone may go to an extreme and kidnaps the
child! (This is a widely discussed issue and there are lots of different points of view).
Let us not prevaricate, celebrity culture affects us all. Whether we aspire to them or loath them: they
will have an impact on us.
Psychologists say some people aspire towards celebrities because they are made icons by the media
around us. But some of us do not aspire – not even close –we think of them as futile flibbertigibbets
and wish draconian punishments on them.
Furthermore, some people even put food on their table through celebrity culture. The most
well–known form of this is the paparazzi, who try to catch celebrities doing wacky, weird and
wonderful things. And they are even magazines entirely devoted to fuel our addiction of celebrity.
Where ever you look people are trying to rope in some cash from celebrity culture.
Do not worry human rights freedom fighters; celebrities do have rights. The government body that
enjoin these rights are the

Maya Angelou Motherhood
Maya Angelou
By consistently weaving the theme of motherhood into her literature,
Maya Angelou creates both personal narratives and poems that the reader
can relate to. Her exploration of this universal theme lends itself to a
very large and diverse audience. Throughout Angelou's works, she allows
her followers to witness her metamorphosis through different aspects of
motherhood.
Well–worked themes are always present in Angelou's works– self–
acceptance, race, men, work, separation, sexuality, and motherhood.
However, Angelou uses the latter to provide "literary unity" (Lupton 7–8).
Maya Angelou was born Marguerite Annie Johnson on April 4, 1928, to...show more content...
She sees only
a woman that many people, both white and black, respect. The general
store that Annie owns is the center of activity in Stamps. This
centralization of the store has a direct correlation to the way Annie is
the moral center of Maya's childhood family (Lupton 8–9).
After ten years of living with Momma Henderson, Maya and Bailey are
sent to join their mother in St. Louis. By the time the children are in
their teens, they have covered the western portion of the United States,
traveling between their parents' separate homes and Momma Henderson's in
Arkansas. Each move greets them with a different set of relatives or
another of their parents' lovers.
The turmoil that Maya undergoes causes her to question many aspects
of herself. As a young woman she begins to doubt her sexual preference
and engages in a onetime sexual encounter to prove her sexuality. After
this experience, Maya finds herself pregnant. Angelou ends her first book
with the birth of her son, Guy. This occurrence lends itself to a note of
awakening that carries through Maya's next book, Gather Together In My
Name.
Between the conclusion of Caged Bird and the beginning of Gather
Together, there is practically no break in the narrative. The former ends
with Guy's birth and the latter when he is just a few months old. In its
totality,

Shakira, The Singer Essay
There are many famous people around the world, and some of them are the singers. The singers
are very important for the people thanks to their music. One of the persons that most people like
because of her own style of music is the Latin girl Shakira. Thanks to all the things she did as a
child, and to all the things she is going to do, she has become a star that we, the people who know
her, love.
Shakira has done a lot of things since she was a child to become the famous person she is now. She
was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on February second, 1977. At the age of 8, she wrote her first
song, and by 13 she signed a record deal with Sony Music in Colombia, which resulted in her first
album, "Magia" (Magic). She wrote all the songs...show more content...
Thanks to this album, she gained international fame since her two first albums were just sold in
Colombia. Later, after a year, she released her fourth album, "The Remixes," which include some
songs from "Pies Descalzos" in remix style. On 1998, she began to work with the Cuban producer,
Emilio Estefan. While working with him, she recorded another album called "ВїDonde Estan Los
Ladrones?"(Where Are the Thieves?) Because of this album, she was called the "Latin Queen of
Rock and Pop." Later on 2000, she recorded the "Unplugged Album" which was a mix of songs
(sung in a mini live concert) from "ВїDonde estan Los Ladrones?" and "Pies Descalzos" And this is
all the work she has done to become a star.
Shakira has planned to do many things for the future. "Right now, she is taking a break, but her next
logical step is crossover the English Market" (www.geocities.com/ donde_ esta_ shakira/Menu/
index.html). The singer Gloria Estefan, Emilio's wife, is helping Shakira to translate some of her
best songs to the English language. She is planning to take over the American people, and I know
that she will because of her great talent and own style. Another plan she has, according to the
people who knows her, is to get married. Since the day she got a boyfriend, all the people is talking
about it, but nobody is sure of what she is going to do.
Shakira is a person that many people love because of her music and her

Examples Of Reliable Narrator In The Great Gatsby
The Broker of Truth A reliable narrator is one who shares thoughts and perspectives honestly, and
can be trusted to take account of important events. A reliable narrator will give great insight onto the
story and say what he is feeling. A unreliable narrator is one who shows prejudice and inaccurately
portrays the story and the characters. Nick caraway, the narrator, ofThe Great Gatsby is seen telling
the story of Jay Gatsby a bootlegger who lives an extravagant life, but he is doing so to see Daisy, a
girl who he's in love with, Nick's cousin. In the story The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays
Nick as a reliable narrator due to his honesty, trustworthiness, and his close connection with people.
Honesty is one of the most pivotal traits for a narrator to portray. Nick is a very honest man and
he often, through the novel is not afraid give his opinion. As he was introducing the novel to the
readers he gives and honest assessment of Gatsby, Nick says "Gatsby , who represented
everything for which I have unaffected scorn." (Fitzgerald 2) This displays that Nick is willing to
bring forth his opinion on Gatsby and shows that he will be honest if it is necessary. Nick is
exclaiming that his first reaction to Jay was off–putting, and he rejected his lifestyle. Nick honesty
fuels him into a friendship with Gatsby and lets the story flourish. Nick also seems to be in the thick
of things whenever something went wrong. He gets insider information throughout the story and

hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our
quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got

Essay about Patrick Henry's Famous Speech
Patrick Henry's Famous Speech
'Give me liberty or give me death.' These famous words were uttered by Patrick Henry on March
23, 1775, as a conclusion to his speech delivered to the Virginia House of Burgesses. Within his
speech, he uses the three rhetorical appeals (ethos, logos, and pathos) to convey a feeling of urgency
toward the changes occurring in policy within the Americas implemented by the British government.
He cleverly uses these appeals to disrupt the paradigm that Great Britain is going to let the American
people have any liberty.
The Purpose of this speech is to gain support for a freedom movement from the British government.
One can see this when he states, ?Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the...show more

The very first sentence, ?No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities,
of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But?? conveys the message of
him caring about what others have said before he spoke. It also implies that he disagrees with some
of their views, which he goes on to explain through deductive reasoning in his speech
Patrick Henry uses logos in his speech by talking about Great Britain and how its military is
infringing on the right of the people living in the Americas, and how ?a British guard shall be
stationed in every house? when there is no war. The point he establishes about the extent of British
abuse within America can also be viewed as pathos.
Within Patrick Henry's speech, he states, ?? it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope.
We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth.? Here he is talking about the people in the House
of Burgesses not realizing that the British are infringing on their rights as citizens.
[And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the
last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject
up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain.]
Using this series of statements, Patrick Henry presents a challenge to his peers. While

Personal Narrative Essay: A Day At The Beach
I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years,
it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let alone the beach, since I'm dealing with
neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel
the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me.
I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day.
The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't
mind, I was going to enjoy myself.
I headed out to the water after setting up my towel. The shock of the frigid water took my breath
away and I was momentarily stunned. However, I quickly recovered; finding my body adjusts
rapidly to the cold water. I waded a few feet into it before leaning forward and swimming out. I
didn't dare to go too far though, instead turning to swim parallel to the shore. I was comforted by
the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all of my worries. I looked
into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. Just when I was starting to get

astounding, and is attraction draws many tourists there every year. My experience touring Paris
will always be on of my favorite memories. Everywhere I looked, it was as if I was in a dream.
There was so much elegance in such simple structures it seemed unrealistic. Wherever I went, it
seemed as if the magnificence only grew with each passing step.
It all started with the most exhilarating train ride ever. It was about four hours long, and we were
going so fast that the world around me seemed non–existent. The trees were whizzing by so quick
that I could hardly see what color they were. The food that was served melted in my mouth making
me want more with every bite. Although I never wanted the train to stop, nothing could ever
compare to what was awaiting my family and I when we stepped off the train. The aroma of the
different types of food from a variety of places coming together to make my mouth water. Seeing the
bustling streets of Paris filled with people as amazed as we were trying to take in the scenery that
was so vast, it seemed like years before we could visit it all. I was so excited to see what awaited us
in the days to come.
Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower, standing next to such an amazing piece of art was a privilege
as well as intimidating. The Eiffel Tower is 1,063 feet tall making everything else around it seem
insignificant. My family and I waited in

Famous Narrative Essays

  • 1. Star Wars: A Narrative Fiction I awoke in my bed, hearing my phone go off. I pressed the green button in the middle wearily. " HEY!" the phone seemed to scream at me. It was just my friend Paul, thank goodness. Even though he was two years younger than me, he was still a good friend. " Are you up? Come on, kid! I've got a surprise for you!" I got dressed, fixed my hair, and ran out the door. Paul, was standing there with the story that we had written together a few weeks ago. I wondered why, but the thought raced away when she spoke: "You're NEVER going to believe this, Kiana! Our story is going to be made into a MOVIE!" My eyes widened, my smile was so big my face hurt. " You're kidding!" I joked. Paul smiled even bigger. " You betcha! You know I've got George Lucas's email, right?" I nodded. George Lucas was the one who had written and directed all the original Star Wars movies. HIS story? We wrote it together! In fact, I came up with the storyline, the characters, the setting, everything! I started to feel a little jealous as I ate my fettuccine alfredo." Yes, Paul, yes. I believe Miss Kiana helped you too?" Mr. Lucas asked him. " Yes, I –" I started to say. " Yeah sure. I guess you could say that." he told him. I slammed my fist on the table. The others looked at me in concern. Mr. Lucas went on to tell us that we were going to fly to California so that we could oversee the film process. " Wow, I'm only 13, and yet I am the luckiest kid in the world!" Paul shouted out with glee as we got on the plane. I couldn't believe it! he was totally disregarding the fact that I had written most of it! I grew angry. Before I could say something, however, I heard a familiar Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Success Story Essay My success to education Blondie Torres ENG. 121 Concetta Williams July 18, 2011 Looking back at the past eleven weeks I have grown and learned so much here at Ashford University. I never thought that I would actually accomplish my educational dreams and be successful in my life, but I definitely have proved, myself wrong. I love knowing that I am doing great and I really try to do my best in completing my homework on time, with the occasions of a few speed bumps along the way. I decided to return to school to further my education for many important reasons. I have struggled tremendously in the past with my five children and I wanted to change that life style for good. I am so very tired of trying to make ends meet and not...show more content... I decided to just go for it and I am so glad I did because I know now that I have overcome that fear and I feel as if I can accomplish anything and everything. I can also say that I have matured in many ways as a mother, first time college student, and being a single mother of five. My kids had to adjust to the new routine as well. They did not understand at first but eventually they came around and little by little they gave me the time I needed to study and do homework. I still have to overcome a few obstacles in order to complete my degree program, just like I had to overcome all the changes that come with me returning to school. One of the main obstacles I must achieve here at Ashford University is to listen, learn, and to be obedient in all the discussions and the assignments asked of me. Last but not least I have to say I have to overcome all negative feelings I get from time to time to complete all my educational goals. I need to be prepared mentally and physically for anything that is being asked of me from my instructors. I feel that I need to keep an open mind as well because I know all the feedback from classmates and instructors will be of great help in making me a better person and learner. There are a few things I must do to overcome all these certain obstacles here in college in order to have a successful completion of my degree. I will have to keep doing all these helpful strategies that have gotten me this far. For example, using the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Fantasy Story Essay examples Fantasy Story Deep in the City of Chic, on the plant of Decorous, there was a school named Ennui High School. At this school there was a very interesting girl named Bliss. Bliss had long wavy golden brown hair. She had big blue eyes that were on flawless snowy skin. Her lips were full, and they were always the perfect shade of soft crimson even without lipstick. Bliss just turned 17. She was doing well at school, but she really felt she was ready to get out of her old routine and see what else was out there. One spring Friday morning, Bliss was sitting on the stoop of the apartment building were she lived with her parents. She was looking up at the pink and purple towering buildings around her. They are wonderful, but...show more content... Find the tree that is in the most southwest part of the park and tap on it twice. Go down the stairs, and turn right of the path. Turn left on the next path. Go to the fountain, and take a left. Go to the Castle. When you get there ask me what to do next." And with that the voice was gone. Bliss looked with bewilderment at Jest. He was calmly sitting on the white floor licking one of his front feet. Bliss said, "That voice was a true bolt out of the whiteness. What was that? Where did it come from?", Jest answered, "Um, that was the voice of the magic wand. And it came from the wand." Bliss said, "That helps a lot. Well I guess we should get going." They went out of the white room through the emerald door to the royal blue hallway. They stepped down the red stairs and out of the light pink building. Jest said, "Do you know where Morale Park is?" "Yes I do, but I don't know where we are," answered Bliss. "Do you know how to get there from Mulisha Square?" asked Jest. "Yes I do," said Bliss. She followed Jest down the street. They did another series of turns until they were at Mulisha Square. Mulisha Square is a square block in the middle of Chic. It is made up of bright pink bricks. On two sides it is sunken with steps that are used as sitting places. From there she found Morale Park easily. Morale Park had always been one of Bliss's favorite parks in Chic. On this day it looked especially magnificent because it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay about The Life of Celebrities There are many advantages and disadvantages to a celebrity life. Some of the advantages that I will evince later on in the essay are: money, popularity, good press in magazines; however, some of the disadvantages that I, too, will evince later on are: privacy intrusions, harassment and childrens' privacy (children of the celebrities). This essay will also discuss the impact this has on us and will debate the luscious lives of celebrities – or, some may argue, the cruel, callous life of a celebrity. There are many advantages of being a celebrity – we all know that – some of these are: the money, celebrities earn impressive amounts of money, for example, Tiger Woods has made over a billion dollars; the popularity, everyone wants to be...show more content... Examples of this can be things like: simply taking a picture, naming the children. One may think why is this is an issue, well it can be, because what if someone may go to an extreme and kidnaps the child! (This is a widely discussed issue and there are lots of different points of view). Let us not prevaricate, celebrity culture affects us all. Whether we aspire to them or loath them: they will have an impact on us. Psychologists say some people aspire towards celebrities because they are made icons by the media around us. But some of us do not aspire – not even close –we think of them as futile flibbertigibbets and wish draconian punishments on them. Furthermore, some people even put food on their table through celebrity culture. The most well–known form of this is the paparazzi, who try to catch celebrities doing wacky, weird and wonderful things. And they are even magazines entirely devoted to fuel our addiction of celebrity. Where ever you look people are trying to rope in some cash from celebrity culture. Do not worry human rights freedom fighters; celebrities do have rights. The government body that enjoin these rights are the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Her exploration of this universal theme lends itself to a very large and diverse audience. Throughout Angelou's works, she allows her followers to witness her metamorphosis through different aspects of motherhood. Well–worked themes are always present in Angelou's works– self– acceptance, race, men, work, separation, sexuality, and motherhood. However, Angelou uses the latter to provide "literary unity" (Lupton 7–8). Maya Angelou was born Marguerite Annie Johnson on April 4, 1928, to...show more content... This centralization of the store has a direct correlation to the way Annie is the moral center of Maya's childhood family (Lupton 8–9). After ten years of living with Momma Henderson, Maya and Bailey are sent to join their mother in St. Louis. By the time the children are in their teens, they have covered the western portion of the United States, traveling between their parents' separate homes and Momma Henderson's in Arkansas. As a young woman she begins to doubt her sexual preference and engages in a onetime sexual encounter to prove her sexuality. After this experience, Maya finds herself pregnant. Angelou ends her first book with the birth of her son, Guy. This occurrence lends itself to a note of awakening that carries through Maya's next book, Gather Together In My Name. Between the conclusion of Caged Bird and the beginning of Gather Together, there is practically no break in the narrative. The former ends with Guy's birth and the latter when he is just a few months old. In its totality, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

One of the persons that most people like because of her own style of music is the Latin girl Shakira. Thanks to all the things she did as a child, and to all the things she is going to do, she has become a star that we, the people who know her, love. Shakira has done a lot of things since she was a child to become the famous person she is now. She was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on February second, 1977. At the age of 8, she wrote her first song, and by 13 she signed a record deal with Sony Music in Colombia, which resulted in her first album, "Magia" (Magic). She wrote all the songs...show more content... Thanks to this album, she gained international fame since her two first albums were just sold in Colombia. Later, after a year, she released her fourth album, "The Remixes," which include some songs from "Pies Descalzos" in remix style. On 1998, she began to work with the Cuban producer, Emilio Estefan. While working with him, she recorded another album called "ВїDonde Estan Los Ladrones?"(Where Are the Thieves?) Because of this album, she was called the "Latin Queen of Rock and Pop." Later on 2000, she recorded the "Unplugged Album" which was a mix of songs (sung in a mini live concert) from "ВїDonde estan Los Ladrones?" and "Pies Descalzos" And this is all the work she has done to become a star. Shakira has planned to do many things for the future. "Right now, she is taking a break, but her next logical step is crossover the English Market" (www.geocities.com/ donde_ esta_ shakira/Menu/ index.html). The singer Gloria Estefan, Emilio's wife, is helping Shakira to translate some of her best songs to the English language. She is planning to take over the American people, and I know that she will because of her great talent and own style. Another plan she has, according to the people who knows her, is to get married. • 11. One of my favorite places to go as a child was to the reservoir with my family. We would start packing a few days before we left, my brother's and I would go to school on a Friday than afterward we would go camping. Every time I would hurry home because I was ready to go camping. When I was little I felt like my family and I went camping every day even though we didn't. I have many memories of camping that are hilarious to talk about. I love to go camping because you can smell the lake, or you can start a fire which smells amazing. Waking up in the morning unzipping thetent and getting out to be able to see the forests is such a beautiful site. Sometimes my brother and I will sit in the woods on trees to watch boats and jet skis go by. While you are falling asleep, you hear animals like coyotes or if someone had dogs you can hear them. When I wake up in the morning to the birds chirping it sounds amazing. Waking up in the morning when my mom is in the middle of cooking potatoes, eggs, and sausage for breakfast you would be able to smell it, it was the best smell to wake up to in the morning. She would make hot cocoa, which made it ten times better. Some days my family and I would go fishing in the daytime, one or two times while we were camping we would go fishing at night till 3:00 sometimes earlier. If my brother and I were bored we would go into a forest and play games such as hide and go seek, or tag. I know I few times my brother and I would build forts out of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Essay on Sports Narrative Tyler Douglas Professor Thamm Eng 101–10:00 a.m. Due: Sep. 29, 2008 Essay #1 Narrative A major role in my life would definitely be sports. It is almost as if I look up to sports because I could not live without them. Sports pretty much define me as me. I love to play sports as well as watch all kinds of sports on T.V. and if I could ever go to a game and watch the players play live I would be thrilled. Basically sports define me because I am ambitious, I finish what I start, I set goals for myself, and I am a fierce competitor in which I love to win and I hate to lose. The greatest part about sports to me is living for the moment when the game is on the line and the pressure is on can you come through and make a play for your...show more content... With the game tied 6–6 that is when I went into my own little zone and was in my moment. The crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us through doing two a days and keeping us late after a hard practice, spending all of that time and hard work just for this one little moment when the game was on the line. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special moment. Now, it was in this moment when I had realized that sports define me as me because we never gave up, none of us wanted to lose, we set a goal and completed it, but most important we kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody is going to remember how many games we won or who the best player on the team was that season, but I guarantee what people will remember is when we had beaten Aberdeen for the first time in school Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay about Patrick Henry's Famous Speech Patrick Henry's Famous Speech 'Give me liberty or give me death.' These famous words were uttered by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775, as a conclusion to his speech delivered to the Virginia House of Burgesses. Within his speech, he uses the three rhetorical appeals (ethos, logos, and pathos) to convey a feeling of urgency toward the changes occurring in policy within the Americas implemented by the British government. He cleverly uses these appeals to disrupt the paradigm that Great Britain is going to let the American people have any liberty. The Purpose of this speech is to gain support for a freedom movement from the British government. One can see this when he states, ?Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the...show more content... The very first sentence, ?No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But?? conveys the message of him caring about what others have said before he spoke. It also implies that he disagrees with some of their views, which he goes on to explain through deductive reasoning in his speech Patrick Henry uses logos in his speech by talking about Great Britain and how its military is infringing on the right of the people living in the Americas, and how ?a British guard shall be stationed in every house? when there is no war. The point he establishes about the extent of British abuse within America can also be viewed as pathos. Within Patrick Henry's speech, he states, ?? it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth.? Here he is talking about the people in the House of Burgesses not realizing that the British are infringing on their rights as citizens. [And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain.] Using this series of statements, Patrick Henry presents a challenge to his peers. • 18. Personal Narrative Essay: A Day At The Beach I stretched my arms out and looked up and down the beach. Although I lived in Waikiki for years, it'd been far too long since I took a vacation, let alone the beach, since I'm dealing with neverending piles of school assignments and activities. As I strolled along the coastline I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me. I closed my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. The beach was oddly quiet for this time of that year, only a handful of people sunbathing. I didn't mind, I was going to enjoy myself. I headed out to the water after setting up my towel. The shock of the frigid water took my breath away and I was momentarily stunned. However, I quickly recovered; finding my body adjusts rapidly to the cold water. I waded a few feet into it before leaning forward and swimming out. I didn't dare to go too far though, instead turning to swim parallel to the shore. I was comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all of my worries. I looked into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. Just when I was starting to get tired and wanted to go back to the shore, I saw something. Off the distance of the coastline, there was...show more content... Those who are young with energy and risk takers, revel in a hearty chase. My experience touring Paris will always be on of my favorite memories. Everywhere I looked, it was as if I was in a dream. There was so much elegance in such simple structures it seemed unrealistic. Wherever I went, it seemed as if the magnificence only grew with each passing step. It all started with the most exhilarating train ride ever. It was about four hours long, and we were going so fast that the world around me seemed non–existent. The trees were whizzing by so quick that I could hardly see what color they were. The food that was served melted in my mouth making me want more with every bite. Although I never wanted the train to stop, nothing could ever compare to what was awaiting my family and I when we stepped off the train. The aroma of the different types of food from a variety of places coming together to make my mouth water. Seeing the bustling streets of Paris filled with people as amazed as we were trying to take in the scenery that was so vast, it seemed like years before we could visit it all. I was so excited to see what awaited us in the days to come. Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower, standing next to such an amazing piece of art was a privilege as well as intimidating. The Eiffel Tower is 1,063 feet tall making everything else around it seem insignificant. My family and I waited in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
