What is code of ethics? A code of ethics outlines fundamental principles. It requirements that can be
used to set the basis for things one must and must not do. This paper will explain what a code of

Years ago, sociologist Raymond Baumhart was researching ethics; he asked a test group of business
people, "What does ethics mean to you?" The group had several different answers:
"Ethics has to do with my religious beliefs."

"Ethics consist of the standards of behavior our society accepts."

The answers of the test group may be representative of how most Americans would respond to this

Ethics is a term that most people find boring and many misunderstand. Ethics is a branch of
philosophy that arranges, defends, and recommends concepts of acceptable and unacceptable
conduct. Deriving from the Ancient Greek word "ethos", translated means habit or custom.

then. The Code of Ethics is an ethical benchmark for investment professionals around the world. The
standards have generally been adopted regardless of job function, cultural differences and various
laws that differ from country to country. As a CFA member, you are obligated to adhere to the code
and its ethical standards.
High ethical standards are imperative in preserving the public's faith in economic markets and in the
investments profession as a whole. CFA Institute members must follow the Code and Standards. If
members do not abide by the code, sanctions may be imposed. Sanctions consist of cancelation of
membership to the CFA institute, withdrawal of suitable candidacy in the CFA program, and lastly

therefore, she should be the one being saved. However, assuming half of the thousands of
patients Dr. Rutland had saved are female, they are also, with the assistance of the medication, are
able to reproduce life. Because more lives would be able to be reproduced, not only by the females
who were on the medication, but as well as the men who were on the medication (it takes two to
make a baby), Dr. Rutland should still be saved.
Another argument presented in class was how although Dr. Rutland had invented or created the
medication, he may not be the only physician working on perfecting the medication. And even if he
is doing research, he may not be the one to perfect it. Just because thousands of lives had been
saved in the past does not mean others will be saved in the future. A counterargument for this,
however, is that it is a "what–if" argument. Because he has saved so many lives as of this point,
chances are he will continue to do so, even if he does not perfect the medication. Also, there is no
evidence that someone else is or has been working on this medication. Finally, even if there are
others working on this medication, or if Dr. Rutland does not perfect the medication, if he dies in
this fire, none of this will ever be known.

Ethical System Reflection The Ethics in Justice course has outlined various ethical systems. This
was done using the course textbook: Ethical Dilemmas and Decisions in Criminal Justice HUM
3350 Custom Edition by Lethbridge College, and peer presentations on each of the ethical systems
outlined in the text. Ethical systems provide a foundation, in a variety of areas, for individuals in
determining, morals, and actions within their lives (Pollock, 2015). Individuals may fit various
characteristics within numerous ethical systems; however, it is important to reflect on oneself, as
well as one or two ethical systems, encompassed individually, in every day activities. Personally, the
two ethical systems which reflect myself as an individual, are ethics of virtue, and ethics of care. This
is due to many characteristics I display as an individual in my life. Life experience, and education
are essential factors in my development, and beliefs. This paper will outline the two ethical systems,
how they conform with my personal beliefs, and how they apply to my everyday life.
Ethics of Virtue The ethical system, ethics of virtue, is based on the ideology, which bases ethics

the total useful impact of any other action that could be carried out instead of the first one. The point
is that all direct and indirect participants gain benefit. But applying this theory one should bare in
mind that long–term consequences must be also taken into account. Considering the situation given
with capital export, I should point out that this situation on the countries of export and import. If the
export country is a rather developed one (such as the USA, the United Kingdom etc.) and the import
country belongs to the underdeveloped one, it means that both parts will gain benefit from the
situation. The developed country will generate profit locating its production in the area of cheap
resources and workforce. In addition, the import country will get additional workplaces. As the
result, all participants have benefits in the situation. The capital owner generates benefit, the
unemployment rate in the import country reduces and the employees have ability to earn money.
