To begin with, it is important to live a healthy lifestyle because there's less of a chance of getting
sick. When you have less of a chance of getting sick it doesn't necessarily mean that you have less
of a chance of dying, it will just lessens the worry. If you get sick, there's pain and plenty of worry
that comes with it. If you don't live a healthy life style there's a possibility of getting obese, when
you become obese there's a possibility of being diagnosed with Coronary heart disease. Coronary

health and wellness we are learning that many diseases, mental issues, and long–term complications

Essay about Health and Wellbeing
In society today, there is an extensive range of definitions of health and wellbeing which can be
seen as both positive and negative. A Holistic view can also be identified and defined. These
definitions of health have changed over time and will carry on changing within the future.
According to where a family lives or their social class everyone will have different meanings and
views of health and wellbeing. This may be due to what one person perceives as being healthy as
another person may not. Channel 4 learning (no date) describes that a positive view of health can
be seen as when a person is more likely to achieve and sustain physical fitness from exercising and

According to Floyd, Mimms and Yelding (2008) Webster's Dictionary defines health as "the
condition of being sound in body, mind and spirit... freedom from physical disease or pain." This
definition has very much taken the holistic view. Wellbeing is a term in which reflects on the
positive emphasis on health and can be broken down into six aspects know as environmental,
physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. To achieve a high balance of wellbeing it is vital
that a person is able to balance and take care of each aspect effectively. Underdown (2007) implies
that in 1948 the World Health Organization(WHO) defines health as 'a state of complete physical,
mental and social well–being and not just the absence of disease or infirmity.' This definition took a
holistic view as it mentions mental and social wellbeing and it was supported as it focused on a
person being healthy rather than not being ill. However, this definition has been widely criticized.
Seedhouse (1986) believed that for someone to be in perfect state of health is unachievable and
unrealistic.
There is a wide range of major genetic, social and environmental factors which influence the health
and wellbeing of children in today's society. According to The Marmot Review (2011) the more
deprived the area or district which a child lives in, the more likely it is to have social and

And after you stop dieting, you also may overeat to make up for what you missed.

context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals,

inversely related to participation in leisure–time physical activity, which may be related to people
with low incomes having less discretionary time and less access to exercise facilities and green
spaces (McNeill et al., 2006) In developed countries, people tend to have a sedentary lifestyle which
can leads to higher levels of obesity, therefore lower overall well–being. A study shown "The

The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay

can result in a person having a healthy life or cause them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise
are countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic
performance are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable.
Merely not using a person's body is harmful. Not being active results in a person's muscles
becoming weak and out of condition. The effectiveness of a person's heart and lungs will decrease.
A person's joints will become stiff and can be injured easily. Inactivity can be as much of a health

Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two
hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having
some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information").
Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have
different performance related requirements in accordance with their occupation but all people have
the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types ofexercise that helps
tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic
exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this,
such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and
boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise
(Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen
aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood.
An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person's requires both anaerobic and
aerobic exercise for good health. Simply doing a cardio work out is not healthy, and for a person to
see real results there must be some activity like weight lifting ("Anaerobic").
By performing some type of physical activity each

Although if you're eating habits are unhealthy changing them would be a good idea. An average
woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes) will lose more significant amount of weight
than some one who does not exercise at all. But you have to understand that when you are
exercising, you are also replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but I know I
would be happy if I didn't lose weight and replaced my fat with muscle. Overweight but fit people
generally have half of the death rate than people who are overweight and unfit. People who have
trained for quite a long time develop more effective mechanisms for burning fat and are capable to
remain leaner.
It does not matter what your level of fitness is, it can always be improved with normal exercise no
matter what your age, but you have to know that some kinds of exercise are more effective for
cardiovascular health than others. Any type of activity that works large groups of body muscles
for about twenty minutes increases cardiac output and metabolic rate. You should practice this at
least three to five times a week for it to be effective on the cardiovascular system. The heart will
become larger and stronger as a result of exercising so it will be able to pump more blood though the

I Am A Healthy Life Essay
I'm living a healthy life in most aspects. Fist of all I keep healthy eating habits. I seldom skip
breakfast during my weekdays so that I'm energetic for my classes everyday. I always plan my
breakfast the day before, such as bagels or eggs. Breakfast is important so I try to make it fresh
and delightful. Sometimes I drink tea instead of coffee. Black tea is my favorite because caffeine
in it is lower than green tea or coffee. I always feel too excited after drinking coffee. I feel my
heart beating faster than usual and my hands may even shake. Usually I don't eat a lot at night,
especially before sleeping. This keeps my stomach healthy and prevents me from getting weight. I
prefer eating healthier food rather than fast food such as burgers and fries. Sushi or other Asian
dishes are always my dinner. They are light and balanced in nutrition, and good for my digest
system. However, as a college student, I have some unhealthy behaviors which are common
between me and my friends. The first one is, I always sleep after 12:00 am at night and it can be
later during the weekends. As a result of sleeping late at night, sometimes it is hard for me to get
up early in the morning. On the weekends I always wake up after 11:00 am. This is very
unhealthy because I skip my breakfast and also my biological changes. I have to get used to the

What Makes A Healthy Person?
Definitions about what a healthy person is and what illness is have changed significantly over time.
The World Health Organisation states that ''Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social
well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity''. Whilst this definition has not
changed since 1946, the understandings of what constitutes an illness has greatly. For example, at
the time of this definitions publication, homosexuality was seen as deviant or an illness to be
cured, whereas in modern western society it is no longer considered as such. Similarly,
menstruating women are often diagnosed with PMS, which is now medically considered an illness
but was overlooked in the past. In modern western societies, health and illness is often understood
using a primarily biological approach, called the biomedical model, which holds a strong focus on
finding cures for various diseases and allowing people to survive for longer. However, over the last
two centuries sociologists have challenged the model, often arguing that a biological approach
cannot be entirely sufficient for understanding health and illness. This essay will explore the
evolution biological approach and social theoretical critiques including the existence of health
inequalities and the over reliance on surgical and other invasive procedures in order to determine
whether it is solely sufficient in understanding health and illness. It will discuss how the social

Essay on Definitions of Health
Definitions of health
It is fairly difficult to define health as there are no agreements between scholars. This is why many
sociologists focus their research on the different issues and problems of ill health.
Positive definition of health: positive health looks at the physical, emotional, intellectual aspects of a
person's wellbeing. This is in the way that they do not have any diseases or ailments.
An example of the positive definition of health in a health and social care is a nurse in who is
working in a hospital can say to one of their patients that have recently started exercising to become
more 'healthier' 'you look very healthy'.

An example of holistic health could be that a psychologist's client may have bipolar disorder and
the psychologist would still focus on all of the other aspects of their client's life and not just on the
symptoms the client is experiencing of bipolar disorder.
Holistic health looks as everything as a whole and never different aspects of health individually.
World Health Organisation definition of health: the World Health Organisation defines health as "not
merely an absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social
well–being." (2013 K Pritchett Class Notes)
An example of health defined by the World Health Organisation in a health and social care setting
could be that in order for a patient of a doctors surgery to be healthy they would have to have a
complete state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well–being. This means that if a patient was
in a wheel chair they could never be seen as healthy as they do not have a complete state of physical
well–being.
The World Health Organisation thinks that people must have all complete aspects to be completely
healthy.
The Clinical Iceberg

statistics. This is because some people do not always seek medical attention when they become ill

" 'Good health implies the achievement of a dynamic balance between individuals or groups and

absence of illnesses and a state of mental and social well–being (Carey et al. 2000:3). In other words,
in order to maintain optimal health, it is imperative to have a well–balanced lifestyle which would
include a nutritious diet as well as mental and social well–being. This essay shows that food is one

activities, the Okinawans seem to enjoy high rates of longevity and good health as compared to the
populations of other countries (Mc Devitt 1999: 59). A further critical element characteristic of a
healthy lifestyle is to refrain from smoking and limiting alcohol intake to a minimum to enhance
physical well–being (Melton 2001: 32). Hence, it is evident that staying healthy means keeping
active. Various simple activities such as dancing, gardening, or brisk walking help to burn kilojoules
whilst at the same time providing enjoyment. Such activities can easily be done by everyone to keep
healthy.
Finally, social development also plays a fundamental role in promoting and maintaining good health.
Perry (1997: 26) notes that the elderly that live with their children and grandchildren gain several
positive impacts on their social and mental well–being. These benefits include emotional and
physical support from their children along with a close–knit social network, both of which are
significant to maintaining good social condition as evidenced by World Health Organisation 's
definition of 'health '. Conversely, the elderly are able to give emotional support to

The Importance Of A Healthy Body And Mind
A healthy body and mind are essential for improving the quality of my well–being and ensuring I
live a long extended life. Making good choices and decisions in my daily routine is the best
approach to take for achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. When it comes to health,
everyone makes good and bad choices which can either help you have a better life or force you to
face the consequences of illnesses and addictions. Individual behaviors, social and economic factors,
pollutants, access to quality health care, and policy–making are all core factors and equally
important influences to ensure everyone's well–being. Achieving any one of these improvements
requires planning a schedule that includes time for managing my school priorities, my health, as well
as ensuring adequate sleep and exercise. Scheduling would help simply the overwhelming list of
things to do, and in turn keep my stress levels low and allow time for socializing and relaxation.
Some important things I can focus on to improve my health and well–being are, exercise and
physical fitness, choosing nutritious meals, scheduling regular health and wellness check–ups, and
avoiding negative social influences. Proper exercise and physical fitness are important for
improving my wellness and can be beneficial in preventing the onset of the many health problems

for their body. If they did, they wouldn't put half of what they eat in it. What you put in and out of
your body decides how healthy your body can or will become. Having good eating and drinking
habits will most likely force your body to be in good health. To have a healthy body, junk food needs

Too much alcohol can only be harmful to your body. This list isn't the only way to maintaining a
healthy body. There are six different food groups that can help you maintain a healthy diet and
body. The groups are: meat, bread and cereal, fruits, dairy, vegetables, and fats/oils. These groups
provide the nutrients that a body needs. The meat group includes other foods beside the basic beef.
There are foods like poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts. The bread/cereal group also includes
pasta and rice. Fruits are pretty self–explanatory right along with vegetables. The dairy products are
the foods made with milk like yogurt and cheese. One group that you need but can't have a lot of is
the fats. Even though it has fat in it, your body can't live on those nutrients alone. All of the foods
go hand in hand, if used properly. That means you have to maintain a good eating balance. Balancing
your diet is one of the most important way to staying healthy. Eating too much of one thing, whether
healthy or not is not keeping your diet balanced. The correct amount of each food group will help
you maintain a balanced diet. When consuming products from the dairy category, only 2–3 servings
are sufficient. While eating from the meat group, you should only take in 2–3 servings also.
Sometimes a second helping is okay. In the vegetable group, you should eat 3–5 servings. In the fruit
group, you should have 2–4 servings (of different fruit). The most you

Two hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information"). Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have different performance related requirements in accordance with their occupation but all people have the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types ofexercise that helps tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood. An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. An average woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes) will lose more significant amount of weight than some one who does not exercise at all. Overweight but fit people generally have half of the death rate than people who are overweight and unfit. People who have trained for quite a long time develop more effective mechanisms for burning fat and are capable to remain leaner. It does not matter what your level of fitness is, it can always be improved with normal exercise no matter what your age, but you have to know that some kinds of exercise are more effective for cardiovascular health than others. Any type of activity that works large groups of body muscles for about twenty minutes increases cardiac output and metabolic rate. You should practice this at least three to five times a week for it to be effective on the cardiovascular system. The heart will become larger and stronger as a result of exercising so it will be able to pump more blood though the body. • 14. I Am A Healthy Life Essay I'm living a healthy life in most aspects. Fist of all I keep healthy eating habits. I seldom skip breakfast during my weekdays so that I'm energetic for my classes everyday. I always plan my breakfast the day before, such as bagels or eggs. Breakfast is important so I try to make it fresh and delightful. Sometimes I drink tea instead of coffee. Black tea is my favorite because caffeine in it is lower than green tea or coffee. I always feel too excited after drinking coffee. I feel my heart beating faster than usual and my hands may even shake. Usually I don't eat a lot at night, especially before sleeping. This keeps my stomach healthy and prevents me from getting weight. I prefer eating healthier food rather than fast food such as burgers and fries. Sushi or other Asian dishes are always my dinner. They are light and balanced in nutrition, and good for my digest system. However, as a college student, I have some unhealthy behaviors which are common between me and my friends. The first one is, I always sleep after 12:00 am at night and it can be later during the weekends. As a result of sleeping late at night, sometimes it is hard for me to get up early in the morning. On the weekends I always wake up after 11:00 am. This is very unhealthy because I skip my breakfast and also my biological changes. I have to get used to the healthy routine again every Monday. Another bad behavior is that I seldom do any exercises. I used to do it for few times every week, but later I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. What Makes A Healthy Person? Definitions about what a healthy person is and what illness is have changed significantly over time. The World Health Organisation states that ''Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well–being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity''. Whilst this definition has not changed since 1946, the understandings of what constitutes an illness has greatly. For example, at the time of this definitions publication, homosexuality was seen as deviant or an illness to be cured, whereas in modern western society it is no longer considered as such. Similarly, menstruating women are often diagnosed with PMS, which is now medically considered an illness but was overlooked in the past. In modern western societies, health and illness is often understood using a primarily biological approach, called the biomedical model, which holds a strong focus on finding cures for various diseases and allowing people to survive for longer. However, over the last two centuries sociologists have challenged the model, often arguing that a biological approach cannot be entirely sufficient for understanding health and illness. This essay will explore the evolution biological approach and social theoretical critiques including the existence of health inequalities and the over reliance on surgical and other invasive procedures in order to determine whether it is solely sufficient in understanding health and illness. It will discuss how the social construction of health and illness Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Essay on Definitions of Health Definitions of health It is fairly difficult to define health as there are no agreements between scholars. This is why many sociologists focus their research on the different issues and problems of ill health. Positive definition of health: positive health looks at the physical, emotional, intellectual aspects of a person's wellbeing. This is in the way that they do not have any diseases or ailments. An example of the positive definition of health in a health and social care is a nurse in who is working in a hospital can say to one of their patients that have recently started exercising to become more 'healthier' 'you look very healthy'. World Health Organisation definition of health: the World Health Organisation defines health as "not merely an absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well–being." (2013 K Pritchett Class Notes) An example of health defined by the World Health Organisation in a health and social care setting could be that in order for a patient of a doctors surgery to be healthy they would have to have a complete state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well–being. This means that if a patient was in a wheel chair they could never be seen as healthy as they do not have a complete state of physical well–being. The World Health Organisation thinks that people must have all complete aspects to be completely healthy. The Clinical Iceberg 'The Clinical Iceberg' is a term used to call the levels of illnesses that are found from official statistics. This is because some people do not always seek medical attention when they become ill therefore these official statistics may not be correct and showing the 'true' levels of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

'" (Better Health Commission 1986, cited in Carey, D., Perraton, G.; Weston, K. 2000: 3). According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 'health ' can be defined as the absence of illnesses and a state of mental and social well–being (Carey et al. 2000:3). In other words, in order to maintain optimal health, it is imperative to have a well–balanced lifestyle which would include a nutritious diet as well as mental and social well–being. This essay shows that food is one of the many important factors amongst others when striving to maintain good health. As a result of their late retirements and continuous physical activities, the Okinawans seem to enjoy high rates of longevity and good health as compared to the populations of other countries (Mc Devitt 1999: 59). A further critical element characteristic of a healthy lifestyle is to refrain from smoking and limiting alcohol intake to a minimum to enhance physical well–being (Melton 2001: 32). Hence, it is evident that staying healthy means keeping active. Various simple activities such as dancing, gardening, or brisk walking help to burn kilojoules whilst at the same time providing enjoyment. Such activities can easily be done by everyone to keep healthy. Finally, social development also plays a fundamental role in promoting and maintaining good health. Perry (1997: 26) notes that the elderly that live with their children and grandchildren gain several positive impacts on their social and mental well–being. These benefits include emotional and physical support from their children along with a close–knit social network, both of which are significant to maintaining good social condition as evidenced by World Health Organisation 's definition of 'health '. • 20. Health Goal Essay Health Goal Final Report When contemplating what goal I should try and reach, the most influential thing I could think of was trying to do fifty consecutive push–ups within the set duration of time. By doing so, it would allow me to work on perseverance as well as motivating myself, which would positively impact other behaviors I tend to do. My goal is related to this because I am forced to persevere through the tough times when I do not think I can complete my objective, which will overall help to strengthen my focus. When I began my goal, I did not anticipate the amount of time it takes to dedicate myself to what I wanted to do.
