Vietnam is part of the mainland southeast asia, china borders it to the north, to the
west is Laos, and to the southwest is Cambodia. The South China sea is to the east.

The population of vietnam is 92.7 million.
The higher populated areas are surrounding the two main waterways; Red River
Delta and Mekong River Delta

Hanoi is the Capital of vietnam, it is the second largest city in vietnam. The biggest
city in Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh.
Religion
Buddhism is the most popular religion in Vietnam. (tam giao) or the "three
teachings" refers to the combination of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism
found in Chinese philosophy. In Vietnam, the three teachings have become weaved
together, as well as with early Vietnamese beliefs, to create a syncretic religion that
is followed to some extent by most Vietnamese. For most Vietnamese, there is no
inherent contradiction in making an offering to Buddha, a national saint and a
ancestor depending on the occasion.

Khai Dinh Tomb is located in Chau Chu mountain near Huế in Vietnam
The tomb was ordered to be built by the Emperor of Vietnam as his own future
tomb.
The Marble Mountains are divided into five peaks that are named after the five
elements of earth, water, wind, fire and wood. The mountains are also home to
many caves, some of which house incredible Buddhist sanctuaries. Some caves
contain Confucian or Buddhist shrines, and others were used as sanctuaries and
hospitals during the Vietnam War.

3. Some interesting food in Vietnam include Pho and Cha Ca. Pho is a Vietnamese
soup, made from beef stock and spices and noodles and thinly sliced beef or
chicken is added. Cha Ca is a fishcake consisting of filleted fish or other seafood
with potato patty, sometimes coated in breadcrumbs or batter and fried.
Agriculture
Agriculture employs half of Vietnam's population. The primary agricultural areas
are the Red River Delta and the Mekong river delta and the southern terrace region.
Rice is the main crop. Sugarcane and sweet potatoes are also important.
Agriculture is very labor intensive, and they don't have tractors and things like we
do so a lot of plowing is done by water buffalo. In recent years Vietnam has started
exporting seafood and that has become a major source of foreign exchange.
Minerals
Vietnam has roughly 5000 new minerals such as: oil and gas; coal, titanium,
bauxite, phosphate rocks, rare earth, copper, gold, iron ore, mineral construction
materials and some others.
Colonization
France took over vietnam in 1887. The French introduced Christianity. The french
colonized vietnam for profit. They used Cheap labor and an abundance of
vietnam's raw materials. The French took over many smaller plantations, to make
large, cash producing ones. On these plantations they produced rubber and rice.
Conditions for the vietnamese workers was horrendous, they got very little pay,
worked long hours, and never got breaks. Sometimes many would die in a single
day.
4. French colonialism did end up helping vietnam with improvements in education.
France ruled vietnam for 100 years.
