To protect from viral infections caused by pathogenic bacteria. To optimize the rate of metabolism in microbes to reduce the generation of odour. To save the quality of the textile materials from unexpected staining, fade out of color and quality deterioration.

4. Objective of an finishing :
Preventing cross infection by microorganism .
Reducing the formation of odour by protecting
metabolism of microbes .
For safeguard of textile products from staining,
discoloration and quality deterioration.
6. Antibacterial textiles are used where moisture and microbes
meet.
The materials see use in a variety of applications including
healthcare; hygiene; medical devices; sportswear; food
packaging; storage; thermal and mechanical protection;
automotive textiles; heating, ventilation and air
conditioning; air filters; and water purification systems.
They are used to protect healthcare personnel with
functional clothing as well as fabrics all around the home,
including socks, mattresses, baby diapers and coverings.
8. How To Antimicrobials work/ Mechanism ?
Antimicrobials work at a cellular level to continually disrupt and prevent the
growth of microorganisms.
By creating an inhospitable environment for microorganisms like bacteria,
mold and mildew, antimicrobials protect everyday products like countertops,
toys, surface coatings, textiles and hospital equipment.
9. It’s the way these antimicrobials work to inhibit the
growth of microbe populations that protects products
against the effects of microbe growth that cause damage
and reduce product shelf life.
Because of the integrated antimicrobial solution into a
product to disrupt the environment for microorganisms
to grow uncontrollably, products are guaranteed to stay
cleaner and fresher longer.
10. Advantage
Acts only on the fibre surface .
Developing microbial
Resistance is less possible .
Good washing durability
Must be non-toxic to consumer
and environment .
Should not cause irritation and
allergy
It must be easily applicable .
Disadvantage
Might become deactivated,
even though present on the
surface .
Can be abraded away
Use of auxiliary chemicals ,
cross-linking agent and other
might affect biocompatibility .
11. My Opinion :
To conclude health and hygiene hazarding importance in descends
clears. Unpleasant odour can arises due to variety of components
produce in bodily fluid such as perspiration. Consumers are looking
for solutions to odour and microbial problem and unique benefits
provided by anti-microbial finish. With invent of new technologies,
the growing needs of the consumers in the health and hygiene can
be full-filled without compromising the issues related to safety,
human health and environment .
