 Hemisphere: Hemisphere is the half portion of
the globe divided either by equator or bu prime

 Oriental world: The countries included in the
south east,south and east asia are known as
oriental world.
 Tropic of cancer: Tropic of cancer is imaginary
parallel of latitudes which is supposed to be drawn
parallel to equator,23 degrees 30/ north it passes
through middle of our country.
 Peninsula: a triangular land mass surrounded by
water on three sides or direction is called a
peninsula
 Tropical zone: The area of region lying between
23 degrees 30/ north and south latitudes is called
the tropical zone.
 Land locked: Land locked is a term often used for
stats and countries completely surrounde by land
with no coastline.
 India is one of the most ancient civilised country
in the world.
 It has achieved multi facaeted socio economic
during the past five years.
 It is forward in making progress in agriculture
technology industry and overall economic
development.
 India has also contributed to making a significant
history.
 India is a vast country lying entirelyin the northen
hemisphere.
 Tropic of cancer almost divides the country into
almost two equal parts to south east and south
west of the main land.
 Main land extends between 8degrees 4min north
and 36degrees 6min north.
 TTh land mass of india has an area of 3.28million
square km. india s total area accounts for about
2.4 per cent of the total geographical area of the
world
 India is the seventh largest country in the world
india has bounded of about 15200 km and the
total length of the coastline of mainland including
Andaman and Nicobar islands and lakshwadeep
islands is 7,516.6 km.
 From gujrat to arunachal pradesh there is a time
lag of two hours. Hence time along the standard
meridian of india passing through mirzapur in
uttar pradesh as the standard time for whole
country.
India is a south ward location extension of the
asian continent.
 The trans Indian ocean routes which connect
the countries of Europe in the west and the
countries of east asia provide a strategic
central location to India.
 The deccan peninsula protrudes into the
Indian ocean thus helping India to establish
close contact with west asia africa and europe
from the western coast and with southeast
and east asia from the eastern coast and with
south east and east asia from the eastern

 India occupies an important strategic position in south

 India has 28 states and 7 union territories .
 India shares its land boundaries with Pakistan Afghanistan
in the north west, china ,Nepal and Bhutan the north and
Myanmar and Bangladesh in the east.
 Our southern neighbours across the sea consist of two
islands countries namely Sri lanka and Maldives.
 Sri lanka is seperately from India by a narrow channel of
sea formed by the palk strait and the gulf of mannar while
maldivves islands are situated to the south of the
lakshwadeep islandsare situated to south of lakswadeep
islands
