  2. 2. Location <ul><li>India is a vast country. It is lying entirely in the northern hemisphere. </li></ul><ul><li>The tropic of cancer divides the country to 2 equal halves. The main land extends between latitudes 8degree4’N and 37degree6’N and longitudes 68degree7’E and 97degree’25E. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Size <ul><li>India has a total landmass area of 3.28 million sq.kms. It is the seventh largest country . India has a coastline boundary of 15,200km and 7,516.6 km . </li></ul><ul><li>The standard meridian of India is 82degree30E which passes through Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh . </li></ul>
  4. 4. India and The World <ul><li>India’s landmass has a central location between East and West Asia. India is a southward extension of the Asian Continent. The trans Indian ocean routes which connect the countries of Europe from the west and countries of East Asia. </li></ul><ul><li>Deccan plateau helps India to have contact with West Asia, Africa and Europe . </li></ul>

India and neighboring countries <ul><li>India shares its land boundaries with Pakistan and Afghanistan in northwest ,China ,Nepal and Bhutan in the north and Myanmar and Bangladesh in the east. </li></ul><ul><li>The southern neighbors across the sea are sir lank and Maldives </li></ul><ul><li>India also shares historical links with its neighbors. </li></ul>

Facts of India <ul><li>The southernmost point of Indian-’indira point’ got submerged in sea water in 2004 Tsunami . </li></ul><ul><li>Since the opening of Suez canal in 1869,india’s distance from Europe has been reduced by 7,000km . </li></ul><ul><li>Before 1947 there were 2 types of states i.e. is provinces and princely. </li></ul>
