(Yorkshire) in 1328
• He became an ordained minister in 1351

John Wycliffe was a priest or rector in many
different locations. First, in 1361, he became
rector at Fillingham. Then, he quit at
Fillingham and was called to be a priest at
Ludgershall in 1368. Also, later in 1374 he was
made rector in Lutterworth.
5. JOHN WYCLIFFE WROTE Multiple
LATIN BOOKS.
In 1360, he wrote : De logica (On Logic). In 1361
he composed a continuation of that book and
called it : Continuatio logicae (Continuation
of[the treatise on] Logic. He wrote three books in
1365: De ente in communi(On Universal Being) ,
De ente primo in communi(On Primary Being),
and De actibus animae ( On the Acts of the Soul).
In 1366-1368, he wrote a book called: Purgans
errores circa universalia in communi(Amending
errors about universals). He used many of his
books as back up as he preached against the the
Roman Catholic Church and it’s teachings.
6. His attacks On The Church
John Wycliffe was opposed in many ways to the teaching of
the church. The churches in England at that time, were
mostly Roman Catholic. Preachers would usually read the
Bible in Latin so the people had a hard time understanding
it. John was one of the first people in England to preach his
sermons in the English language. He made multiple attacks
on the orthodox doctrines, especially that of
transubstantiation. John Wycliffe's
attacks on such a firmly established doctrine
of the church left him almost completely
without followers. Many of his followers were
persecuted but he, himself, was not touched.
7. The Wycliffe bible
The Wycliffe Bible is a great landmark in the
history of the Bible and the English language.
The first and literal translation of the Latin
Vulgate Bible into the English language was
done mostly by Wycliffe's followers, notably
Nicholas Hereford. The better revision was

9. Summary
John Wycliffe showed love towards the English
people by preaching in a language that they
could understand. His teachings influenced
many people, such as: Jan Huss, Martin
Luther, and the Moravians. He showed many
people the true meaning of the Bible and
what it teaches.
