“O ye who believe,
fasting has been
prescribed upon
you as it was
prescribed upon
those before you, so
that ye may learn
self-restraint”.
(Al-Quran:2:183)
Best to finish reading the
whole Quran in this
blessed month.
Come for Umrah for those who can afford…
Spend most of your time at masjid
“O people! The
month of Allah(swt)
has come with His
mercies and
blessings. This is
the month that is
the best of all
months. Its days
are the best of
days, its nights are
the best of nights,
its hours are the
best of
hours”.(Prophet
Muhammad-saw)
Pray that Allah gives us the strength and patience
and to accept all our fasts in this holy month.
Perform a lot of prayers….
Do a lot of tasbih…
Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.w.) said, that Allah
Subhanahu-wa-Ta’ala
said:
“All the deeds of
man are for
himself, except
for fasting,
which is for Me
and I shall
reward it
MYSELF”.
Give thanks that a messenger was sent to guide mankind…
In Paradise there is a
gate called al-Rayyaan,
through which those
who fast will enter, and
no one will enter it
except them; when they
have entered, it will be
locked, and no-one else
will enter through it.
Fasting will intercede for a
person on the Day of
Judgement, and will say,
“O Lord! I prevented him
from his food and physical
desires during the day, so
let me intercede for him.”
• Whoever fasts one day
for the sake of Allah,
Allah will remove him a
distance of seventy
years’ from the Hell-fire.
• Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.w.) said, “Whoever
fasts Ramadan out of
faith and with the hope of
reward, all his previous
sins will be forgiven.”
Whoever fasts one day,
seeking the pleasure of
Allah, if that is the last day
of his life, he will enter
Paradise.
Verily, We have sent
it (this Quran) down
in the night of Al-
Qadr (Decree).
And what will make
you know what the
night of Al-Qadr
(Decree)is?
The night of Al-Qadr
is better than a
thousand months.
The night of Power
Therein descend the
angels and the Ruh [
Jibrael (Gabrial)] by
Allah’s Permission
with all Decrees.
(All that night), there
is Peace (and
Goodness from Allah
to his believing
slaves) until the
appearance of dawn.
(Surah 97)
What to do in the Night of Power
Narrated Aisha (r.a.a.), Allah’s messenger (s.a.w.) said,
“Search for the night of Qadr in the odd nights of the
last ten nights of Ramadan”.
Aisha (r.a.a.) narrated, “I asked
Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.) what
should I do if I find the night of
Qadr”.
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)
replied, “Pray to Allah: O
our Lord! You are the
most Forgiving, You love
to forgive, so forgive us”.
Ramadan Appeal
During Ramadan, maximum food is wasted. People cook lavishly just to show their
grandness of iftar. After fasting the whole day, and praying all the 5 times, finally
committing a big sin – throwing away food. Did you ever realize in some countries, not
having anything to eat, water and salt is used for iftar.
Instead of cooking extra food and throwing it away just to please your friends and
relatives, prepare what is necessary and please Allah by sending a sizeable amount to
poor countries for their saier and iftar.
Jazakallah
-----------------------------------------------
Brothers and friends
Did you care to share food with a poor in your life?
Did you care to share food with a poor in the last one decade?
Did you care to share food with a poor in the last one year?
Did you care to share food with a poor in the last one month?
Did you care to share food with a poor in the last one week?
Did you care to share food with a poor in the last one day?
Please do it if you have not and keep doing it if you already did, because it is never
enough and nobody knows whose child will be sitting there forraging for scraps of food!
HE, The Most Powerful Lord, has all the power and authority to put anybody to test, at
any time, anywhere, anyhow.
-----------------------------------------------
Dear Lord,
I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how
full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and
deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive
towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature
and interests. AMEN.
I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how
fortunate we are and that we must never never take things for granted.
__________________
Please don't break ..keep on fowarding to ur friend
On this good day, I would like to suggest a diversion of this'email not broken'. How about we make a
prayer for the suffering in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, Kashmir, Gujarat
and anywhere else around the globe? If each of us make a prayer and send this
friendly reminder to others, just imagine how much good deeds we will receive (without realising so).
May all of us get His blessing.
Think & look at this...when you complain about your food and the food we wasted daily.
All you have to do is to read around
4.5 pages after each prayer
Pages Prayers/day Days
Number of Qur’an
pages
If you are in real hurry you can finish it once
every two months by reading just 2 pages.
I never knew it was that easy to read the
whole Qur’an each month, by spending few
minutes after each prayer
And remember, each letter you
read in Qur'an counts 10 hasanat.
Ramadanis the month of excitement for Muslims. it is the month of revelation of Qur'an, the month of reading
and reciting the whole Qur'an, the month of tahajjud and qiyam al layl, of tarawih prayers, of sadaqah, zakah al-fitr and zakah
al-mal. It is also a month of social activities among Muslims.
No one can go anywhere without preparation, and no one invites a guest without preparing to welcome him / her. Similarly, to
welcome Ramadan, the month of fasting, one has to prepare. The following are some tips to help the reader prepare
accordingly:
What to do
Try to fast Mondays and Thursdays as of today.
• Start reading Qur'an daily after salat al fajr.
• Spend some time listening to recitations from the Qur'an.
• Train yourself to go bed early so that you can wake up far salat al fajr.
• Keep yourself in a state of wudu' most of the time.
• Evaluate yourself daily before going bed.
• Thank Allah for good deeds, and repent to Him for your mistakes and sins.
• Give yourself time alone, to meditate, make dhikr, tasbih, takbir, tahmid & tahlil. You enjoy life tremendously.
• Those who can afford to make Umrah before Ramadan comes should do so.
• Start giving sadaqah daily, no matter how little.
• Make it a habit like eating and drinking.
• Find time to pray extras, such as duha salat, qiyam al layl, and tahajjud.
• Spend more time reading Islamic books, especially the Qur'an, Sirah, Hadith, and Fiqh.
• Find time to help others with your wisdom, knowledge and other talents.
• Try to write articles on Islam for Muslims and others for non Muslims.
• Associate with Muslim scholars, hafidh, gari', and other ulama so that you may learn from them.
• Train yourself to do good, render free service to others.
• Try to learn how to make dawah to non-Muslims. It is an art requiring knowledge and diplomacy.
What to avoid
• Reduce watching TV, instead spend more time reading the Qur'an and other Islamic literature.
• Avoid looking at unlawful pictures, whether magazines, department store catalogs or otherwise.
• Avoid going to theaters; instead go to masjid, and make that a daily habit.
• Avoid eating too much. Eat only when you are hungry and try not to fill your stomach completely.
• If you drink coffee, tea or soda , be sure to reduce consumption.
• If you smoke, try to reduce daily usage; otherwise Ramadan will be very difficult for you to observe.
• If you like to listen to music, whether the style of western societies or even those from Muslim countries, reduce, even
eliminate the time you spent on them; replace them with reciting and listening to recitation from the Qur'an.
•If you enjoy playing cards and board games try your best to avoid them as much as possible and fill your time with
something useful.
• If you enjoy going with friends to picnics and other social gatherings, try to reduce it before Ramadan; otherwise fasting the
month of Ramadan will be more difficult.
• If you have friends who do not practice the teaching of Islam, try to avoid socializing with them.
• If you travel a lot on business, try to do more local business so you can be more closer to your family and community.
• If you are used to staying up till midnight, try to go to bed earlier, so that you will be able to wake up early for fajr prayer
and tahajjud as well.
• To prepare ourselves before Ramadan arrives is far better than waiting till it comes. To prepare ourselves for anything in life
is a sign of wisdom and maturity. No one is assured of living one day more; tomorrow may not come. So hurry and benefit
from blessings and rewards from Allah.
SOME HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADHAAN
This article provides useful advice on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadhan. If followed, it would enable
one to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadhan.
During the holy month of Ramadhan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible.
The diet should be such that we maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if one is over-weight, Ramadhan
is an ideal time to normalise one's weight.
In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast-
digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours.
Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal
flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates).
Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).
Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, sem (papry),
marrow, mealies, spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried
apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc.
The foods eaten should be well-balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat /chicken / fish, bread /
cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heart-burn, and weight problems.
Avoid
• Fried and fatty foods.
• Foods containing too much sugar.
• Over-eating especially at sehri.
• Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body needs during the day.
• Smoking cigarettes. If you cannot give up smoking, cut down gradually starting a few weeks before Ramadhan. Smoking is
unhealthy and one should stop completely.
Eat
Complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you less hungry.
Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is a slow-burning food.
Dates are excellent source of sugar, fibre, carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium.
Almonds are rich in protein and fibre with less fat.
Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium and carbohydrates.
Drink
As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.
Constipation
Constipation can cause piles (haemorroids), fissures (painful cracks in anal canal) and indigestion with a bloated feeling.
Causes: Too much refined foods, too little water and not enough fibre in the diet.
Remedy: Avoid excessive refined foods, increase water intake, use bran in baking, brown flour when making roti.
Indigestion And Wind
Causes: Over-eating. Too much fried and fatty foods, spicy foods, and foods that produce wind e.g. eggs, cabbage, lentils, carbonated
drinks like Cola also produce gas.
Remedy: Do not over-eat, drink fruit juices or better still drink water. Avoid fried foods, add ajmor to wind-producing foods.
Lethargy ('low blood pressure')
Excessive sweating, weakness, tiredness, lack of energy, dizziness, especially on getting up from sitting position, pale appearance and
feeling faint are symptoms associated with "low blood pressure". This tends to occur towards the afternoon.
Causes: Too little fluid intake, decreased salt intake.
Remedy: Keep cool, increase fluid and salt intake. Caution: Low blood pressure should be confirmed by taking a blood pressure
reading when symptoms are present. Persons with high blood pressure may need their medication adjusted during Ramadhan. They
should consult their doctor.
Headache
Causes: Caffeine and tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day, lack of sleep, hunger usually occur as the day goes by and
worsens by day end. Associated with "low blood pressure", the headache can be quite severe and can also cause nausea before Iftar.
Remedy: Cut down caffeine and tobacco slowly starting a week or two before Ramadhan. Herbal and caffeine-free teas may be
substituted. Reorganise your schedule during the Ramadan so as to have adequate sleep.
Low Blood Sugar
Weakness, dizziness, tiredness, poor concentration, perspiring easily, feeling shaky (tremor), unable to perform physical activities,
headache, palpitations are symptoms of low blood sugar.
Causes: in non-diabetics Having too much sugar i.e. refined carbohydrates especially at suhur (sehri). The body produces too much
insulin causing the blood glucose to drop.
Remedy: Eat something at sehri and limit sugar-containing foods and drinks.
Caution: Diabetics may need to adjust their medication in Ramadan, consult your doctor.
Muscle Cramps
Causes: Inadequate intake of calcium, magnesium and potassium foods.
Remedy: Eat foods rich in the above minerals e.g. vegetables, fruit, dairy products, meat and dates.
Caution: Those on high blood pressure medication and with kidney stone problems should consult their doctor.
Peptic Ulcers, Heart Burn, Gastritis and Hiatus Hernia
Increased acid levels in the empty stomach in Ramadhan aggravate the above conditions. It presents as a burning feeling in the
stomach area under the ribs and can extend upto the throat. Spicy foods, coffee, and Cola drinks worsen these conditions.
Medications are available to control acid levels in the stomach. People with proven peptic ulcers and hiatus hernia should consult
their doctor well before Ramadhan.
Kidney Stones
Kidney stones may occur in people who have less liquids to drink. Therefore, it is essential to drink extra liquids so as to prevent
stone formation.
Joint Pains
Causes: During Ramadhan, when extra salah are performed the pressure on the knee joints increases. In the elderly and those with
arthritis this may result in pain, stiffness, swelling and discomfort.
Remedy: Lose weight so that the knees do not have to carry extra load. Exercise the lower limbs before Ramadhan so that they can
be prepared for the additional strain. Being physically fit allows greater fulfilment, thus enabling one to perform salah with ease.

Please do it if you have not and keep doing it if you already did, because it is never enough and nobody knows whose child will be sitting there forraging for scraps of food! HE, The Most Powerful Lord, has all the power and authority to put anybody to test, at any time, anywhere, anyhow. -----------------------------------------------
  • 10. Dear Lord, I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests. AMEN. I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how fortunate we are and that we must never never take things for granted. __________________ Please don't break ..keep on fowarding to ur friend On this good day, I would like to suggest a diversion of this'email not broken'. How about we make a prayer for the suffering in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, Kashmir, Gujarat and anywhere else around the globe? If each of us make a prayer and send this friendly reminder to others, just imagine how much good deeds we will receive (without realising so). May all of us get His blessing. Think & look at this...when you complain about your food and the food we wasted daily.

  • 13. Pages Prayers/day Days Number of Qur’an pages
  • 14. If you are in real hurry you can finish it once every two months by reading just 2 pages. I never knew it was that easy to read the whole Qur’an each month, by spending few minutes after each prayer
  • 15. And remember, each letter you read in Qur'an counts 10 hasanat.
  • 16. Ramadanis the month of excitement for Muslims. it is the month of revelation of Qur'an, the month of reading and reciting the whole Qur'an, the month of tahajjud and qiyam al layl, of tarawih prayers, of sadaqah, zakah al-fitr and zakah al-mal. It is also a month of social activities among Muslims. No one can go anywhere without preparation, and no one invites a guest without preparing to welcome him / her. Similarly, to welcome Ramadan, the month of fasting, one has to prepare. The following are some tips to help the reader prepare accordingly: What to do Try to fast Mondays and Thursdays as of today.
  • 17. What to avoid • Reduce watching TV, instead spend more time reading the Qur'an and other Islamic literature. • If you like to listen to music, whether the style of western societies or even those from Muslim countries, reduce, even eliminate the time you spent on them; replace them with reciting and listening to recitation from the Qur'an. •If you enjoy playing cards and board games try your best to avoid them as much as possible and fill your time with something useful. • If you enjoy going with friends to picnics and other social gatherings, try to reduce it before Ramadan; otherwise fasting the month of Ramadan will be more difficult. • If you have friends who do not practice the teaching of Islam, try to avoid socializing with them. • If you travel a lot on business, try to do more local business so you can be more closer to your family and community. • If you are used to staying up till midnight, try to go to bed earlier, so that you will be able to wake up early for fajr prayer and tahajjud as well. • To prepare ourselves before Ramadan arrives is far better than waiting till it comes. To prepare ourselves for anything in life is a sign of wisdom and maturity. No one is assured of living one day more; tomorrow may not come. So hurry and benefit from blessings and rewards from Allah.
  • 18. SOME HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADHAAN This article provides useful advice on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadhan. If followed, it would enable one to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadhan. During the holy month of Ramadhan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible. The diet should be such that we maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if one is over-weight, Ramadhan is an ideal time to normalise one's weight. In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast- digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours. Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates). Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates). Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, sem (papry), marrow, mealies, spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc. The foods eaten should be well-balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat /chicken / fish, bread / cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heart-burn, and weight problems. Avoid • Fried and fatty foods. Smoking is unhealthy and one should stop completely.
  • 19. Eat Complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you less hungry. Drink As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid levels in time. Constipation Constipation can cause piles (haemorroids), fissures (painful cracks in anal canal) and indigestion with a bloated feeling. Causes: Too much refined foods, too little water and not enough fibre in the diet. Remedy: Avoid excessive refined foods, increase water intake, use bran in baking, brown flour when making roti. Indigestion And Wind Causes: Over-eating. Too much fried and fatty foods, spicy foods, and foods that produce wind e.g. eggs, cabbage, lentils, carbonated drinks like Cola also produce gas. Remedy: Do not over-eat, drink fruit juices or better still drink water. Avoid fried foods, add ajmor to wind-producing foods. Lethargy ('low blood pressure') Excessive sweating, weakness, tiredness, lack of energy, dizziness, especially on getting up from sitting position, pale appearance and feeling faint are symptoms associated with "low blood pressure". This tends to occur towards the afternoon. Causes: Too little fluid intake, decreased salt intake. Remedy: Keep cool, increase fluid and salt intake. Caution: Low blood pressure should be confirmed by taking a blood pressure reading when symptoms are present. Persons with high blood pressure may need their medication adjusted during Ramadhan. They should consult their doctor. Headache Causes: Caffeine and tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day, lack of sleep, hunger usually occur as the day goes by and worsens by day end. Associated with "low blood pressure", the headache can be quite severe and can also cause nausea before Iftar. Remedy: Cut down caffeine and tobacco slowly starting a week or two before Ramadhan. Herbal and caffeine-free teas may be substituted. Reorganise your schedule during the Ramadan so as to have adequate sleep.
  • 20. Low Blood Sugar Weakness, dizziness, tiredness, poor concentration, perspiring easily, feeling shaky (tremor), unable to perform physical activities, headache, palpitations are symptoms of low blood sugar. Causes: in non-diabetics Having too much sugar i.e. refined carbohydrates especially at suhur (sehri). The body produces too much insulin causing the blood glucose to drop. Remedy: Eat something at sehri and limit sugar-containing foods and drinks. Caution: Diabetics may need to adjust their medication in Ramadan, consult your doctor. Muscle Cramps Causes: Inadequate intake of calcium, magnesium and potassium foods. Remedy: Eat foods rich in the above minerals e.g. vegetables, fruit, dairy products, meat and dates. Caution: Those on high blood pressure medication and with kidney stone problems should consult their doctor. Peptic Ulcers, Heart Burn, Gastritis and Hiatus Hernia Increased acid levels in the empty stomach in Ramadhan aggravate the above conditions. It presents as a burning feeling in the stomach area under the ribs and can extend upto the throat. Spicy foods, coffee, and Cola drinks worsen these conditions. Medications are available to control acid levels in the stomach. People with proven peptic ulcers and hiatus hernia should consult their doctor well before Ramadhan. Kidney Stones Kidney stones may occur in people who have less liquids to drink. Therefore, it is essential to drink extra liquids so as to prevent stone formation. Joint Pains Causes: During Ramadhan, when extra salah are performed the pressure on the knee joints increases. In the elderly and those with arthritis this may result in pain, stiffness, swelling and discomfort. Remedy: Lose weight so that the knees do not have to carry extra load. Exercise the lower limbs before Ramadhan so that they can be prepared for the additional strain. Being physically fit allows greater fulfilment, thus enabling one to perform salah with ease. ______________________________________________________________________________ Please do not forget me in your Duas.
