• National Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka (NCPCSL) was set up by UNIDO in
2002, under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
• NCPCSL is a registered as an Energy service Company (ESCo) under the Sri
Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA)
• NCPCSL is a member of UNIDO/UNEP Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production
Network (RECP Net), a global family of 52 NCPCs.
• NCPCSL is registered in Sri Lanka as a Company by Guarantee not for profit –
Registration No. GA 2822. CNCI and NCE are the partners
• NCPCSL became a member of Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN)
which is the is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism.
• NCPCSL became an Associate member of Global Ecolabelling Network
• NCPCSL is a registered Environmental Consultant organization under Central
Environmental Authority for providing environmental services to Sri Lankan
industries.

Eng. Samantha Kumarasena is the Chief Executive Officer of National
Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka.
He has obtained BSc (Engineering) degree, Master’s Degree (MSc) in
Textile Studies and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in
Management of Technology from University of Moratuwa. Mr
Kumarasena is an experienced Cleaner Production auditor and an
accredited Energy Auditor from Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority
(SLSEA). He has successfully completed his Lead Auditor training in ISO
50001 Energy Management System.
The Chartered Environmentalist under Institute of Environmental
Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) has more than 25 years of experience
as an Assessor, Trainer and Consultant at national and international
levels. Further, He has conducted several projects in Bangladesh,
Georgia, Pakistan and Vietnam.
He is a member of National Adaptation Committee on Climate Change,
member of National Mirror Committees on Environmental Management
standards and Circular Economy.
Eng . Ruwan Wijemanne
Senior Energy Expert

Eng. Ruwan Wijemanne is working as the Senior Energy Expert of NCPC Sri Lanka.
He has obtained B.Sc. (Hons) Engineering degree from University of Moratuwa, reading for
Masters of Energy Management in Open University and Completed MSc in
entrepreneurship and innovation in Asia e University.
He is a Certified Energy Auditor, accredited by Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority and
a System development consultant in ISO 50001 Energy Management System. He is also a
Level II certified infrared thermographer, an associate professional Green Building Council
Sri Lanka (AP-GBCSL) and Corporate member/ Director of Sri Lanka Energy Managers
Association (SLEMA).
He has worked as an energy consultant over 10 years and inspected more than 240
factories in major sectors such as Textile, Metal, Recreation, Food, SME and general
building sectors. He has also consulted for several non-conventional renewable energy
(NCRE) power projects in capacity of developing feasibility reports and initial environment
examinations (IEEs) for solar, wind, hydro and biomass sector.

Eng . MM Munsif
Energy Engineer

Eng. Munsif is an Engineering graduate from Curtin University Australia
and currently reading for a PG Diploma in Sustainable Process
Engineering at University of Moratuwa. .
He joined NCPC in 2016 as a member of the Energy Management team.
During his six (6) years tenure, he has been involved in conducting
Cleaner Production assessments in more than 100 industries, energy
audits in more than 60 industries and consulted in developing ISO
50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) in more than 15 industrial
and commercial buildings.
He also provides his technical expertise in other resource efficiency and
systems development missions of NCPC Sri Lanka. Munsif also holds a
diploma in Electronic Engineering and have received trainings in
Energy management, Resource efficiency, Life Cycle Inventory database
development, Green Chemistry, Eco Label development and
Responsible care in Sri Lanka and India.
Eng . Jonathan Nithiananthan
Energy Engineer
Jonathan, a graduate of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, specializing in
electrical power systems joined the energy management team of National Cleaner
Production Centre in the year 2020.
As a member of the Energy management team of NCPC Sri Lanka, he has taken part in
conducting energy audits and ISO 50001 Energy management system development for a
variety of clients.
He is also currently working on the EU funded Prevention of Marine Litter in the
Lakshadweep Sea (PROMISE) project.
