ANC武裝分支的第一位總指揮，並和湯波
共創南非第一家黑人法律事務所。
曾被美當恐怖分子，直到2008年曼德拉
90歲生日前夕，才將他除名。
監禁期間關在長2.5公尺、寬2公尺小囚室
裡。他在此練拳擊，走上熱愛體育之路。

南非政府多次以種族隔離制度為條件，
要釋放他，但都遭拒。入獄期間經歷喪
母及長子車禍身亡。
聯合國宣布他的生日7/18是
「尼爾森•曼德拉國際日」。
