March 30, 2011 A Federally Qualified Health Center
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Charles Alexander Frank. Charles came to Community Health
Connection in the spring of 2009 and volunteered to work here translating English to Spanish for our Spanish
speaking patients during his summer break. He volunteered over the summer 2-3 days/week logging around 300
hours of medical Spanish translation experience. He has been a wonderful asset for our clinic. From March-
September 2010 Charles worked on our team as a referral researcher, politely contacting medical locations in
Tulsa and documenting what services they provided along with resources to overcome the language barrier.
After collecting massive amounts of data he organized and presented it to our referral specialist, who uses the
information to this day. He is very bright, personable, motivated to learn and achieve, reliable, and has
incredible enthusiasm. He has gotten along exceptionally with all of our staff and patients. He is a fast learner
and professional in every way. Charles Frank has a strong work ethic, he is punctual and always willing to assist
in any area he is asked. He always does what he says he will do and is capable of achieving anything he sets out
to do.
During his time as a nursing student he has excelled in academic and ,extracurricular activities. The summer of
2010 he earned his LPN and most recently (March 2011) passed the Assessment Technologies Institute (AT!)
Comprehensive Predictor, which indicated a 96% probability of passing the NCLEX on the first attempt. He is
currently the President of OU Student Nurses' Association and holds the position of Membership Director with
Oklahoma Nursing Student Association (state boards).
Community Health Connection is a Federally Qualified Health Center. We see patients from all walks of life,
all ages and provide them with primary health care, prenatal care, and behavioral health care. During Charles'
time with us he has been an asset to the organization in many ways. He is bilingual in Spanish which has been
extremely helpful with our client population, 80% of whom identify themselves as Hispanic. Charles is helping
us fulfill our mission of "Providing quality and accessible health care across all life cycles regardless of ability
to pay witch respects the dignity and culture of our community". I previously offered him a position with us at
CHC, but in order to develop his hospital based nursing skills, he respectfully declined, but continues to
volunteer his time with us as school allows.
I highly recommend Charles Frank for any position at St. John Medical Center. Charles exemplifies the values
of community service, volunteerism, leadership, giving, and caring for those who are less fortunate. His
excellent communication skills, organizational skills, internal and external customer relation skills, and his work
ethic will serve him well in any situation. Charles is a good student and in my opinion, he will excel at any
position with St. John. Please call me if you would like any further information. I can be reached at 918-622-
0641.
Sincerely,
~-i fJ C.J2 l0:rD
