• Conference recordings
• Evaluation materials such as tests with automated responses

Whatis OER?
“… learning, teaching and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public
domain or are under copyright that have been released under an open license, that permit no-cost
access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation and redistribution by others.” UNESCO

Basic Principles of an Open License
• reusable: Material can be used in part or completely for own purpose.
• Ex: download educational video for learning purpose.
• redistributable: Material can be shared/distributed with others.
• Ex: e-mail another with a digital article.
• revisable: Material can be modified.
• Ex) change language and format (written to audio)
• remixable: combine material from one resource with another to create a new one.
• Ex) Combine a PowerPoint slide with a book’s podcast.
• retainable: No restrictions on right to digital material.
• Material may be retained for personal use, regardless of the author or student.
4. • Before using OER, check the type of License attached, as there may be limitations. For example, some
open resources may not be reproduced without permission.
• Author of the material does not lose the copy right, as the author is granting automatic authorization
for different types of uses.
