This document discusses the need for simple living communities where devotees can live together and associate with each other. It describes the Ganga Sagara Baru community in Indonesia, where devotees live self-sufficiently off the land while chanting, reading, and serving together. The community aims to establish varnashrama dharma and provide a place where future generations can continue chanting in a clean environment with sufficient resources. It encourages more devotees to join the community to strengthen association and help fulfill Srila Prabhupada's mission.

Simple Living in Krishna’s Abode
4. Devotee association is the main
problem for the practicing
devotees.
• Living with modern lifestyle
• Daily contact with materialist people
• Discussing mundane subjects most of the
time
• Thus we are subject to forget Krsna
5. Unfortunately
the mind says
“I am saved”
• I am chanting
• I am reading
• I am serving ….
• BUT… How long can we go on chanting,
reading and serving without proper
association???? That is still a BIG
question.
6. WILL WE BE ABLE TO CONTINUE
OUR DEVOTIONAL LIFE
IN THIS ENVIRONMENT?
• Chant properly
7. Even if we can, what about our
children, the future generation?
• Will they be able to chant if they can’t even get
enough oxygen to breath?
• Will they be able to chant if they can’t even get
clean water to drink?
• Will they be able to chant if they can’t even get
proper food?
• If we think they will not be able to get, then
where is our JIVADOYA to every living being?
9. • Therefore, it is very clear that at the present moment, we
are urgently in need of places for our devotees to take
shelter and take devotee association most of the time
and follow the lifestyle of simple living and high thinking.
• For these, we need a community where there will be only
devotees as members of the community.
• To make a community, we need land, cows, etc.
10. • If devotees are living together and meet their needs
sufficiently then there will be less chance to get
distracted due to the association with non-devotees.
• When there are devotees, the discussion will tend to be
more focused on Krsna katha instead of business or any
mundane discussions.
• In this way, we can concentrate more on our devotional
live and gradually qualify ourself to go back home, back
to Godhead.
11. Re-establish Varnasrama
• It is Srila Prabhupada ’ s last desire to re-establish
Vaisnava community based on the system of
Varnasrama Dharma in order to save the world from the
disaster caused by the modern so-called advancement
but actually the cause of the destruction of the whole
world.
• Srila Prabhupada has said that 50% of my mission
remains incomplete.
12. • With this consideration, a few devotees have taken Srila
Prabhupada’s mission to establish the Vedic system of
living in order to give a chance for everybody to advance
in Krsna consciousness both at the present moment and
in the future, at least for the next ten thousand years.
13. Some examples are a few
Varnasrama projects in Indonesia
1. Gita Nagari Baru ( GNB ) - Sumatra
2. Ganga Sagara Baru (GSB)
3. Gaura Hari Village in Gianyar, Bali
14. Ganga Sagara Baru
(GSB)
• GSB is situated on one island in Indonesia called
Kalimantan (also well known as Burneo island).
• It is a project with about 124 hectares ( 310 acres)
• The project was started in May 2003 with only 2 families.
15. • At the present moment there are three families taking
care of the land and they are fully self sufficient in food.
• They have Panca Tattva Deities Who were installed in
2005. Each family takes turn to worship the deities daily.
• The morning and evening programs are compulsory for
all the residents.
23. • The devotees in GSB are working hard starting from
cutting unwanted forest trees and making the land useful
for agriculture. Since last 5 years, they have survived
only on food produced from Krsna’s land and by the
mercy of the Lord. They are happy in their material as
well as their devotional life.
24. • No tension for monthly bill for electricity, etc., and are
happy in self sufficient lifestyle.
• The devotees are encouraging more and more devotees
to join and hoping by the mercy of the Lord, one day
there will be a community with at least 40 family
members.
• This is just the beginning of Srila Prabhupda’s mission.
